Dudley’s stage always sounds awesome. Especially when Q’s theme is playing. LOL.

RUU!!! i wanted an all Ken final!!!

lol@ tokido and pierre talking while they play.

is it just me or does it say there are no Chun li and Yuns allowed in tourney on KSK’s website?

…maybe it’s a new rule, and why did tokido have points coming into that ranabt?

iono, that’s what i read under tourney on his website…either that or my japanese sux

Here is generally what it said before the most recent Ranbat:

Starting from the next Ranbat, after the 9/15/07 Ranbat, there are the following rules:

  1. NO CHUN-LI’s or YUN’s
  2. EVERY match you have to change your character.
He said he just wanted to try at least one Ranbat with these type of “bold” rules.
He also wants comments and opinions on these rules from people.

That’s Interesting.

I’m quite surprised about that.
It’s an interesting experiment at least, but the “change youtr character every match” part might turn the ranbats into something a bit too random.

That’s all it’s gonna be. An experiment. We already got a pretty good idea of who kicks the most ass during the ranbats and even out of the people who dont always participate in the KSK ranbats. I guess it’s cuz I’ve been watching this stuff for over a year now so any change is cool by me.

The Q player in that last ranbat, OUT? That dude wins the all time record for most c&db attempts against an Elena player, and also the all time record for most successful c&db attempts against an Elena player? Weird stuff.

I don’t think Yun and Chun should be banned in a ranbat, but they should at least try and see what happens when you ban Chun SA2 and Yun SA3

then again random rules are always awesome, the idea of a “you must change characters” metagame is cool.

i wonder if finally ill see Ryu in a KSK Ranbat. Ive seen more Alex, Twelves, Necros and even Qs than Ryus.

You mean you dont ever see Ruu? He was in the last ranbat before the newest one. I can understand the lack of wanting to pick Ryu. He’s really just a lesser Ken in the long run. Akuma has way more trickies at least compared to Ryu and has real solid options that Ryu doesn’t. His only issue is the weak defense. I think after a while of playing Ryu it’s tough to stick with him when you know that Ken is simply just doing everything he does better. For some people I think playing Ryu would be simply for the challenge or if you really like his SA2 or SA3. Which are both fun supers and potentially game ending supers but they dont give you the meter versatility that SA1 does and SA3…well it’s SA3. It does what it does. Then there’s the people that pick Ryu because he’s Ryu. Ryu’s kara throw doesn’t give him that much of a boost either. Ken will scare you into doing something with his mighty footsies any ways.

If I were to pick Ryu I would definitely run SA3 just because I like gimmicks and that would be fun for me. If I were to run SA1 or 2 I would just eventually run to Ken. I can set up the same and even more stuff with better meter options. SA2 looks cool and does hella damage but…half your matches you’re going to end up burning the meter any ways and you could have done that with SA1. Sometimes burning the meter ends up costing you the chance to seal the round.

BOOOOURNS I love watching jpn Yuns and Chuns. I’d rather watch Nuki or Boss than TM, Yamazaki any day :(. It’s too early for something like this, theres still so much to the high level top tier game that makes it so exciting to watch, I feel that people who complain about fucking GVision ranbats being a boring Chun/Yun fest need to STFU and just watch a little more attentively.

Some people just dont like watching the same characters. Just like how people hate on dynasties in football and basketball and all that stuff. They wanna see something different and they wanna see the big guys fall. Watching the big guys do their big guy stuff is good and all but not everybody gets excited about watching Nuki or Nitto find some way to rape everyone in the ranbat. Maybe varying their style a bit…showing off a new thing here and there. Yet, generally by watching vids you can tell they just understand the game at that level and people understand that.

I dont have a problem watching top tiers because good 3S is good 3S. I just definitely prefer to watch lesser characters go at it considering I believe learning how they work is especially key to getting better. Since it is a game where anyone who’s decent with a non top 3 can take you out and we’re in a country where people are rather reluctant to play non top 3 seriously in tourneys. At best usually going for Mak or Duds. Even then it’s tough to find people who play Mak or Duds that are really going to challenge you. Unless you’re in a 3S hotspot (hell…even if you are) you wont get too many chances to understand what it’s like to play against a really serious Dudley or Elena so it’s good to see it an action when you can.
