The Official 3rd Strike Match Vids Thread

eks was like “oh no you di-in”… slam, ban, thank you mam. Anyway, I missed those matches yesteday. gj v sugiyama. How come australian players got so good?

International students who played here, a willingness to travel to places like Hong Kong and Japan, but most of all people like Jack who have served for years as community hubs and both stopped the game from dying as well as introducing new players and showing them the ropes. The game really almost died here in 2005 (arcade closures), so I’m very thankful to the efforts of people who provided us with cabinets to keep the arcade scene alive, as well as achieving the ultimate goal of an SBO spot this year.

yeah, willingness to travel is a bitch to come by XD
seriosuly though, I didn’t see it coming last year, I hadn’t heard about good Australian players up to that point. How big is the community? Sorry for going off-topic.

Yes we do and yes you do.

10 matches of Q [TM] vs Dudley [Aiku] from Mikado

TM’s something else o_0

Great Matches

Spoiler

When I saw the link, I thought, Well, statistics say TM either wins three or four, and it’s interesting to see that it came up exactly that. Too bad TM missed a couple c&db combos, including one to win a match; Aiku messed up on a couple machine gun juggles, but nothing that would have won a match or done much more damage than was already done. Other than those couple missed combos, I thought TM played about as well as he could have, and I think Aiku played about as well as he could have as well. This is excellent proof of tiering; out of ten matches played by two guys who are masters of their respective characters, the Q player won/could have won the exact number of games predicted by hypothetical matchup charts.

Check out the previous update on Mikado, Aiku also annihilated Rikimaru’s Chun in their best of 10 match.

Euro qualifiers grand final

Somehow that wakeup raging demon was so predictable, yet so good to see:D Anyways, good job on winning the qualifier with that nasty comeback of yours:P

over 100 players from different states show up at our nationals, though that is across all games. 3S had 50+ entrants last year, but unfortunately many of our players have returned to their country of origin since then =[

anyone else annoyed that aiku doesn’t throw the rose meaty?

rofl, yeah. That kept throwing me off. I just kept thinking something felt wrong about those matches.

i know almost nothing about australia but does it hurt you guys to have like 2 coasts and nothing in between, making it super hard for a national to be in a good location? we have like, las vegas and a national held on both ends of the country

haha totally agree!

Just noticed those now but the links are down now :frowning:

Also annoyed that Aiku doesn’t know the corner combo after sweep/ex mgb: one hit fierce upper, st. strong x fierce upper. He needs to do his hw .

Shend, I was gunna ask if you had those matches too . Did anyone snag them?

Congrats Naz thumbs up

Shend: uber props for posting TM matches. Definitely my fav Q player

Grats on going to SBO you bastards. Uhg, I’m so jealous. Anyway, it’s not Two Geki, Tou is pronounced To~. After the dude said it once I was like wtf, after like the 100th time I couldn’t stop laughing. Too bad EU can’t put together its best players overall in one team. Kx was doing so well.

Being there watching the euro finals was too good. French players were on fire, KX was playing extremely well - then, a single mistake of trying to chip a MAX-metered Gouki - and the wind changed, Harmonaz turned what seemed to be a loss already into a great OCV. And people went crazy.
Honestly, Europe deserves at least 2 spots.

A little copy and paste of what the Prince (guy behind camera said) on the RBUK forums:

P.S not to sound like a know it all but it’s more like tourgeki

Thanks, you’re right it is pronounced tourgeki but that’s how the french pronounced (toogeki) it and we found it quite funny hence toogeki, Voila, Le Pressure and whatever may have slipped out during all the excitement.

Glad you enjoyed the vid, it was hard to keep it focused on the screen sometimes.
