Yeah but I have to guess he said something stupid about how he was going to fix it for Cal to pull the trigger.
I mean ideally he should have been fired immediately following the KC playoff ass kicking before he traded Hopkins but I hope the offense can regroup and end respectable looking without the bullshit week to week scheme dogma.
It was his call to let go of Hopkins and sign a few key pieces to long term deals including their quarterback in Watson. Hopkins would have accounted for a huge chunk of the salary cap for a WR that is dependant on the quarterback if the team caved in to his demands (Hopkins wanted near $20 million a year).
O’Brien gotta hold that L though. He gambled and now the team is winless at 0-4.
See the problem is you easily could have payed Hopkins and DJ Reader (another important player rarely talked about) Instead he opted to overpay for players he liked because they balled out in practice like the following Nick Martin, Fulton, Cunningham, Merciless (especially after the abysmal year he had it made even less sense.) and you overpay for a kicker of all positions. He also dragged his feet with the LT they got from Miami and had to way, way overpay for him.
Edit: I don’t know how DJ became Adam… but fixed that.
As for the trade he just wanted him out and took the first offer available, it was made more apparent when we saw what Buffalo gave up for Diggs. To make matter worse some teams FO mentioned that they didn’t even know he was on the trading block because if they had known they would have had some really good packages ready for trade.
I will give him a pass on paying Cunningham as he is very good, but Martin and Fulton are two parts of the offensive line for their production. And everyone else you are correct as that money we are paying Cooks, Cobb, the safety I forget because he ain’t done shit besides get burned and David Johnson could have easily paid Hopkins if it was all about money. And the trade was done before we knew how bad Covid-19 would fuck things up for the cap.
I haven’t watched the Washington Football Team this season, has he been that bad or is this a over reaction probably due to him not being this coach/administration’s guy?
He’s been decent but he plays like a guy who hasn’t much experience and will take some time to develop. But part of me thinks there is something else going on. Alex Smith is the backup. So either Haskins is hurt/sick and the team don’t really want to say anything or he’s not doing what he should be doing in the film room.
It would be a nice story if Alex Smith could make it back on the field and succeed. But probably it is something Haskins did or didn’t do, the NFC East is still open for anyone to take right now.
Don’t care my Bucs up fucking 13-0 but the refs calling the worst non-false start ever(instead NZI)… Now its giving the Bears momentum and a possible 7 points… Bullshit…
