Biggest problem with this reset is that you’re doing it way too early, the point of a reset is to reset damage/hitstun scaling but if you’re doing it at the start of the combo its less efficient and you’re just wasting guaranteed damage. But it does seem like all you need to do this reset is land mighty smash M so as long just do the mighty smash at the end of the combo its fine, you can either do that with the help of an assist or solo by doing a charged mighty smash H > mighty smash M. Duck strong also posted a reset after mighty smash M that works against forward techs so could test both out to see which is more practical.
Being honest, you are right and it could be optimized for sure. I was using it on wolvy and it was killing him with 1 super although, so it seems very practical. Less inputs for same result is often the best choice in marvel 3 imo.
true but its not the same result in this case, if you were facing a character with higher health you wouldnt be able to kill him, and even if its just a lower health character doing a full combo + a reset will build more meter and will kill them without having to use any meter. So it builds more meter and does more damage, thats not the same result at all.
Ofcourse you should still go for less/easier inputs if you dont think you can consistently pull off the better/more advanced version, but you should still try to practice it considering the reward is pretty big.
Good point. I did notice that you could go for relaunch with H Mighty Smash and link the M Might Smash after, probably a good opportunity then as you have reached your HSD limit for the most part and all you can really go for is something that doesnt effect hsd or has prolonged enough stun, usually super. I will tweak some more and see what I can come up with.
So looping fullcharge :h: strike into thornado after an otg is actually practical now, it’s an infinite as long as you have meter, I know it was POSSIBLE in vanilla but it wasn’t practical. You can even do it midscreen,I think it works on every character I didn’t test raccoon though, on some characters like hawkeye you need to slightly adjust your timing but it works. Just a thornado fall into :h: strike m spark after a normal combo is ~970k. Costs 2 meters and build one. I know he had this in vanilla but it does more damage now as thor isnt hurt as badly by combo scaling.
Speaking of which, are you guys consistently looping mashed thornados? I have trouble with that.
ive never rly tried doing it in a real match. I spent a little time trying it out in training mode but it didnt seem very consistent and the timing can change based on the character so i didnt bother.
I sure as hell can’t get in online but I can do it pretty consistently in the training room.
Mashing it definitely makes it less consistent, and its like impossible against big characters now. I messed with it for awhile and I think its just harder in general to get them to pop high enough for that last hit to whiff now. Of course now with charge mighty smash being easier you can dhc to way more supers now since comboing into a grounded thornado is easier.
How do you loop tornadoes? Are specific assists needed?
By hitting Mighty Tornado with the opponent above Thor at a certain distance, typically landing air L-Mighty Strike. When I do land it, it’s because I tagged the opponent while attacking from mid-air while Thor is grounded.
It can also be done with fully charged ground M/H-Mighty Strike.
I caught Abegen’s matches at Evo. The way he linked Tornados is pretty solid but you need an otg assist that only hits once (x-23, Hulk, She-Hulk, Wesker). If they’re in the corner do regular bnb then jump over their body assist the otg assist hits and make sure Thor’s already started Tornado in the air. The closer to the ground he is, the better. Thor will be free to move the INSTANT he touches the ground and the stun from Tornado leaves them flying just long enough for m/h smash. If you use heavy smash to link them just remember one thing. Heavy smash has like four parts to it. The shoulder, the first hit in the air, the second hit and small lightning explosion at the end. Cancel into Tornado after the second air hit. It DOES cause a bounce. It feels easy enough to be practical. With Hulk assist I netted 919,200. At the end you can link another h smash and go for reset. If you get it, it’s essentially a dead character
