The midscreen reset makes them go under you if you try to end it with light mighty strike. I had to adjust it with high mighty strike and jump up forward and catch them with mighty hurricane.
The fly one works when you get them in the corner though.
All of them work but as said before timing is a bit different… The new one Foo?(Could be wrong on name I cannot find it but I will sorry if i am wrong about your name) did is amazing its on stream archives if you have not seen it … was an Air series followed by a fully charged mighty smash into a jumping L attack wait on them to tech fly up and hurricane … it was pretty damn sexy.
Keep in mind if you’re working on air resets vs the CPU that you fly over them if the CPU, or opponent, isn’t doing anything. Turn air recovery on FRONT or BACK and you’ll have an easier time. It makes sense, because in live play players rarely just drop without pushing backwards.
I haven’t see any demonstrations of this reset being done in ultimate, so I made a little video. This is becoming one of my favorites since, depending on the hitstun deterioration of the combo, it can catch front, back, or neutral tech. I wasn’t able to get it to work against Shuma, though
there is any way to combo ( not DHC) after a Mighty Punish ?
there is any way to combo after an air normal grab ? neither wesker assist nor mighty thunder hit -_-
There’s no way to combo after a Mighty Punish. The opponent doesn’t stay grounded for very long, so the best thing you should do is preposition yourself for a mix up, or just be ready for whatever they do on wake up.
As for a normal air grab, an OTG assist will help with that. Some OTG assists need to be called before actually landing the grab to hit. For example, if I know I’m going to get an air grab, I’ll call Dormammu’s purification and then air grab. Thor smashes the dude right into the pillar, and they go straight up, and afterwards, I super jump towards them for a Mighty Hurricane reset. I haven’t worked with any other OTG assists, but you should definitely look into 'em. Hit the lab, set the CPU to jump, then see which OTG assist works best for you after an air grab.
Pretty new to Thor and thats the first time I’ve seen this setup. Any tips on landing the fully charged Mighty Smash? Also, is this corner only? Thanks!
I also need some timing tips on landing fully charged Mighty Smash, I can’t seem to land this to save my life. I get that I’m supposed to delay the aircombo, but can anyone be a bit more specific?
there are 2 things you need to do, delay the j.S in the air combo and do the mighty smash as soon as you land. Thor’s j.H has a lot of hitstun so other than the j.S you dont need to delay anything else in the air combo. Just practice it a few times to get a feel for the timing, its much easier now with the faster mighty smash so you dont have to delay it as much as possible like you used to in vanilla.
is tridash j:l:>c:l:>c:m: xxx :rdp::l: jump :hcb::h: and old combo or is that something that’s new to ultimate. Can be done mid screen.
you can also switch out the :l: mighty strike with a mighty strike if you do M just air dash up forward and do :h: mighty hurricane at the peak of your jump.
It’s kinda old kinda new. Back in vanilla, since Mighty Strike had so much recovery on hit if done on the ground, you’d have to do like a jump cancel instant air Mighty Hurricane to follow it up. Now, all we gotta do is jump up for the Hurricane. I love Ultimate.
Not sure if this was mentioned or not, but I have been playing around with this reset since vanilla and it was really spotty in vanilla because of his air throw range. In chocolate it seems, it works much better. So in the corner:
IAD S, 2a, 2h, M mighty smash, 2m x fly, wait for opponent to tech, L mighty hurricane
I placed the cpu to randomly tech, very little adjustment in timing is need to catch forward, back or neutral techs. Definitely not trying to pass around theory fighter stuff so, poke holes in the strat if you see fit.
