Im late to the pokemon discussion and while I could write a 3 page essay imma be brief.
Pokemon franchise has become stale. There is a competitive community who has tried to “balance” a singles 6v6 meta even tho GF introduces changes that fucks with that on every gen. The game themselves (progression/story) have been dumbed down beyond fun. Yes, they used to be somewhat challenging, not jap rpg challenging but at least def not the hadholding that it is right now (healing twice per route, auto share exp, constant reminder of what to do/where to go, etc). There was def grind involved as with most rpg styled games. Idk ut has lost a lot of its appeal despite certain key changes (phys/spec split in gen 4, fairy type introduction, defog reworked, etc). The issue is they keep adding dumb shit to appeal to the lowest common denominator (big moves to go boom! Look your mon is now Huuuuuge! And has big moves too!). I was very dissapointed in gen 7 after the great stuff gen 6 brought to the table (improved graphs being the first games on new console, new in game mechanics like breeding ev training etc). Gen 8 kinda looks good altho then you remember it could look 4 times better considering the Switch is not a GC in terms of specs power. Oh well i can go on. Just plz dont bring “millions support it” cause is not really an argument that necessarily implies quality (think fifa cod etc)

The rival healing you before fighting has been something I’ve hated as long as they’ve done it. It’s so dumb.
I loved the nugget bridge so much because it was a gauntlet of trainers and then that shit eating fuck Gary (#bestboy) challenging you.

Turning XP share off and forcing me to seperately grind 6 different Pokémon is the exact definition of arbitrary difficulty. It’s not even a matter of difficulty at that point, it’s a matter of how much time you’re willing to waste.
No? I want there to feel like there’s a point in the battling, capturing, training and exploring. To me right now there isn’t.
This is just going around in circles and I don’t really care anymore. We simply look at the game differently now.
I don’t know how many times I need to repeat but I don’t hate Pokémon. I’ve been a fan since day 1. Just right now I don’t find the core generational games engaging or fun.

hahaha there’s not enough “disgusted/smh” reaction gifs on the net to describe this foolishness. Not that long ago, people would think a person wasn’t being serious for even bringing that piss ass excuse for a character up as a possible addition to the roster.
This might seriously be the worst character addition I’ve ever seen in the history of gaming, man. It’s so absurd it’s actually hilarious to me. I guess we may actually get “L Block from Tetris” next…but that might actually be a more interesting idea there. How about a Power Pellet from Pacman, or maybe a POW block from Super Mario Bros. 2? Maybe a random henchman from that old Kung Fu arcade game? …or perhaps a boulder from Dig Dug…not the Pooka or Fygar but that boulder you drop on them…? 
Those would be great, “iconic” character ideas, right? Sure ok It’s surprising that this nonsense isn’t more downvoted than it is just yet. This is amazing, man…
edit—now of course I need to check the Smash forums over at Gfaqs…I’m sure the reactions are GOLD… I’m always up for a good Hindenberg-level disaster to laugh at…

I get why folk are upset, as Minecraft and it’s “characters” are very far from my interests. Yet this is still one of the most successful franchises in the history of the industry, does extremely well in Japan and countries across the globe and you have an ‘in’ with the main publisher.
I am surprised but it makes sense. For kids that grew up or are growing up with Minecraft, congratulations. For us old heads, meh, be glad it means third party reps are still on the table.
man… I remember when people first started throwing around the idea, some were just saying “Steve” without also mentioning the title of the game… and here’s my “old man” moment—I had to google search for a second to even figure out who that muthafucka was…“Steve…? Who the hell is that…?”
Horrible character design from the game with the most atrocious visuals (in fairness I realize it’s due to the horrific “style” chosen for the game), less personality than goddamn R.O.B. the robot… this is… there’s no words for this shit 
Here’s another character idea since all bets are off apparently—how 'bout that turd that Duke Nukem picks up from his last game on 360/PS3? You actually get an achievement for that if I recall. Duke’s Dookie, the next Smash character …or if this were an MA-17 maybe you could throw in the Purple Dildo from Saint’s Row 3. Or… what about Bo Rai Cho’s Vomit from Mortal Kombat…whatever part he was in? That could be an interesting “character” too, I guess.
