The Nintendo Switch Thread v. Come post on Mega Shock!: I’m not updating this anymore

Whaaaaat?

It’s not that strange. A lot of people don’t like smash. I’ve actually never liked smash. I love the concept of smash but I think it’s gameplay is absolute garbage. I just have weird Alzheimer’s when it comes to it.

Every time a new one gets announced I get super stoked. I get hype about all the character reveals, I preorder the game, so on and so forth.

As soon as release day comes and I play it I’m hit with a mental tsunami reminding me of every reason I hate smash.

I’m just not into “fighting” games that aren’t competitive and have too much random shit going on in them. I also hate how every character has the same “special moves” in the sense you press a direction + attack to do them. I also could be wrong about all of this because I literally haven’t played Smash since N64. I didn’t like it then and have absolutely no interest in ever playing it again.

Oh and the percentage “health” or whatever it is I hate too. And I hate how rounds are timed and you play till the time runs out. It’s also boring as fuck to watch and has way too many characters in it.

I pretty much dislike everything about the game lol. There is not one quality about it that I like, other than the characters that make up the incredibly too large cast.

I’m down to play smash…but for pure fun and easier to manage groups, Merio Kart is better.

I have about 20 physical games I’m in desperate need of a game case or a bad ass switch case with some game case to spare. Just got in SOR 4 as well so it’s busting at the seams.

you guys should get Bomberman so we could all play 4 funsies. Played with my cousins and it was a blast

I think Smash is competitive, its no matter how many times people try to argue with me Smash isn’t a Fighting game.

Alot of actual fighters has this too. Timed rounds and odd health bars. Example: Bushido Blade does not even have health, with the right attack you can 1 Hit KO someone for the match.

I believe World Heroes 2 on console had an option to hide the hp bar as well

That might have been for the death match modes. If I remember correctly, one hit or touching of an environmental hazard you lose. It was fun.

I can understand not liking but it sounded to me like he was saying the only smash game he liked was the n64 one which would be kind of a crazy opinion imo, but he explained it.

Anyway, I guess we can keep it to karting, seems like the only game we can really agree on in here

I have never liked it, starting with the N64 version is what I meant.

Smash matches can be modified for stamina (HP in game) and no time or less time. That’s as traditional as you can get. I’m surprised “competitive smash” never did this.

Mario Tennis Aces is dope. The story mode can go fuck itself but the multiplayer is fun as hell. Was just over a friends house and it’s basically all we played. From 2pm until
10pm.

Personally Stamina mode is a novelty but personally it makes the game less interesting since the game clearly isn’t made for it in mind. The more interesting aspects of the % damage in the game is that as more damage is piled onto characters it ends up changing situations and certain combos become possible or no longer work. Matches are forever changing and fluid. Because of this it ends up making stamina kinda stagant since regardless of what people’s damage is set each character is always going to as if they’re set at 0%. Gimps are barely possibly in that mode due to this and there are other disadvantages that I’m not even thinking of in comparison. Stamina would probably be more if the game played more like a traditional fighter so I’d imagine playing this mode with characters like Ryu, Ken, and Terry would probably be more fun but you try to play a character like Bayo in this mode and it’s probably not gonna be a fun time.

I could see how that would be less fun, but I didn’t know about any of what you just said, so…

:grinning: I need to redownload it, but I’m down! I had to archive it to accommodate this 12GB MK11 update last week :confounded:

That is a terrible prize pool, given a good chunk of the population of Switch owners probably have all or at least two of those games already.

Probability just give away any download codes I can’t use.

My kid is sleep so I have an hour or so to Kart or Smash if people are down. I haven’t played Smash with you guys so think that’d be fun for some crazy shenangans. Anyone feeling like playing?
