Me it is Sunshine and 3D Land on the 3DS.
I beat 3D land and Galaxy 1, last two mario titles I played

So, Kensuke Tanabe the director of every Paper Mario game since Sticker star confirmed a long running theory about all the Paper Mario Games since Sticker Star.
He said in a recent interview that when his team has been given a Paper Mario project they are not allowed to make any original characters from existing Mario-Verse characters. They must be Already existing characters, generic enemies turned allies or brand new characters entirely unique to that game with no association to anything Mario-Verse.
Tanabe : Since Paper Mario: Sticker Star, it’s no longer possible to modify Mario characters or to create original characters that touch on the Mario universe. That means that if we aren’t using Mario characters for bosses, we need to create original characters with designs that don’t involve the Mario universe at all, like we’ve done with Olly and the stationery bosses.
Whether a character becomes an all-time hit or not isn’t up to us on the development side; I think it’s more the case that characters that fans truly accept naturally end up that way. I hope that the origami siblings in Paper Mario: The Origami King will stay in players’ memories, even if they do only end up appearing in this title.“
The interview goes on to mention Tanabe didn’t say who gave the mandate or why the mandate was given to his team.
Sigh
You know exactly who gave the mandate.
Outside of the lack of real allies and traditional rpg mechanics like leveling an experience it’s more or less getting rave reviews.
Gamexplain’s interview was actually very enlightening and addressed a lot of the concerns many people had. Apparently the last few stretches of bosses make the game worth it as they’re actually challenging as well as all things considered it’s a very fun game to play and a great world to explore.
It’s going to be hard to not get it when I got into work. Lol. I’m not worried about ghost of Tsushima. It’ll likely be discounted by or during Black Friday week.
Yyyeeeaah…we got at least a 95% idea of who gave that mandate. And I’m sure he thinks he’s correct because he’s The GUY over there and I feel even him probably saying what he said in the interview might get his tea table up ended for no reason.
Interesting statistic
Its also a weird comparison as the Switch surpassed the Wii
The right title should be the Wii U sucked and the GC underperformed
No it hasn’t. It most likely will after all is said and done, though Starting with the SNES, each Nintendo home console has sold less than the previous ones. Wii and Switch being the outliers.
GC had over 100 canceled titles from Nintendo alone. Not to mention canceled 3rd party titles.
That a weird flex you got there, as yeah the Wii Outsold the GC, but it didn’t really sell games.
Not everyone, but alot of hardcore gamers abandon Nintendo for the PS3 and Xbox 360 because of the Wii. Nintendo appealed to non-traditional markets but alienate part of their existing market. For example before the Switch, my last Nintendo console was the GC. Wii had nothing I didn’t already have elsewhere. And you can’t really compare anything to NES sales as the NES was at the time the only console on the market as everyone else went bankrupt, it be a few years before Sega brought the Mark III to the west as the Master System. And the SNES had stiff competition, the NES didn’t in it’s early days.
I’m glad more things are getting ported to the switch because it makes me feel less like I’m missing out on stuff. Yes, I have a PS4 bit the switch is my main console for the most part and if I have a choice between getting something on either console, I’ll probably pick the Switch.
That said, I never felt like that on any of the other Nintendo consoles I’ve owned other than the SNES. I had an N64 and a DS, and while I loved the games I had on them, I also felt like if you weren’t into first party Nintendo games, there wasn’t as much of a reason to own a Nintendo console. There was generally only a small handful of games for those consoles I was truly interested in because especially the DS, it seemed like a lot of the games were catered more towards younger gamers.
The Wii was something else on its own, and seemed like it was turning that around a bit.
So I think at least part of the reason the Switch is doing such gangbusters because it really feels like there’s something for everyone there, not just pokemon or Mario games.
on the Wii I really liked Red Steel 2 as a non 1st party title. Oh and it had MH3 too (although 3U is better on 3ds)

BAYO 3!? BRAVELY DEFAULT 2?! NO MORE HEROES 3?! METROID PRIME 4?!
Edit: according to Nintendo of Japan’s social media the mini-direct is only going to be about 10 minutes. They better come out swinging. There are no major releases for the Switch lined up this year except for the second half of Pokémon’s expansion pass.
Edit II Turbo: Dev stream featuring the games in the direct will air shortly after the direct airs

I went nuts during this “sale”
Dragon’s Dogma
Onimusha
Capcom Beat ‘em Up
Resident Evil 4 and 5
Odallus: The Dark Call/Oniken collection
Diablo 3 (used the rest of my amazon gift card to cut it to half price)
Pretty sure the partner showcase is mostly 3rd party stuff…not gonna hold my breath for anything related to 1st party but if we do get something? Great!
We’re getting closer to the direct that most of us really want…birdman handrub.gif
Anyone have a link to the direct stream? It starts in 2 minutes and can’t find it
