The Nintendo Switch Thread! - Deadly Premonition 2: Blessing in Disguise 7/10 - Paper Mario: The Origami King 7/17

Ah ok I forgot her left arm was amputated.

yeah, and that’s why I’ve been busting my ass off to try to find her a stick that’ll work for fighters too. She likes playing DBFZ and Tekken.

What issue are having with sticks? Do you need a lefty? Is that it? By that I mean flipped, stick on the right buttons on the left. I

yeah, I’ve already got a purchase with AFS lined up for her. Just need to have the funds and pull the trigger.

So she can only play with one hand or is there prosethics for the left side?

She’s using one hand at the moment for everything, but I need to take measurements for that amputated arm and send them over to ButterOJ. He’s been helping me out with trying to get stuff sorted for her.

FINALLY managed to kill a Metal Slim in DQII! Those suckers are worth the hassle.

Whoa thats tough.

I imagine maybe she’s playing claw style on the middle of the controller? And even then that’be hard to control both sides of the controller at the same time, especially on the fatter xbox style controllers. Cant even fathom how u’d get to the triggers.

yeah, that’s a good way to describe it. I had it in mind once I got the AFS case bought that I was gonna hit him up for the apparatus that she was gonna use.

Unfortunately but not surprising the Walmart I work at isn’t getting Digimon cyber sleuth complete edition on Friday. Nor are any of the other local stores.

Edit: shiiiiiittttt. A local Walmart Ive never been to before is actually going to have it in stock. And it’s for $41.88. That’s before my discount. Looks like I may be getting it after all.

I get off early enough on the 18th I could swing after work and get it. Despite me having never been to this Walmart before I know where it’s at. There is a GameStop in the same lot as it. I worked at it a few times when I first moved here.

Oh, and an @HD-Man Tag cause I remember him being interested in trying it. $50 for 2 games that were $60usd each when they first came plus all their DLC (which iirc the complete edition includes the Japanese dlc packs for both games that were never released outside of the country) is a pretty good deal.

Just curious - since you work at Walmart, what kind of discount do you get on those Arcade1Up machines?

10%. Walmart discount isn’t really worth mentioning, tbh. It just “gets rid” of sales tax, basically.

Gotcha. If I see the Golden Tee one go on clearance I am going to grab that one I think.

I’m considering getting the TMNT one I posed in the video game thread.

At Walmart if you work a full shift on thanksgiving (which most do), you get some voucher that bumps your employee discount to 25% for your total order the following weekend. Which is cool, I guess?

I just hate supporting the idea of “Thank you for spending time away from your family and friends on this family and friends oriented holiday so we could make even more money. Here’s a coupon that will help you get rid of that money you just earned from being away from your loved ones.”

It just feels like a slap in the face.

I was able to snag a SF2 machine they had on clerance here for $180. Friend of mines invited me into a 1up Arcade modding group on FB. My god some of the mods and upgrades you can do on these machines is too good. Might turn this one into a fighter cab with retro pi and grab another for some old school games down the road.

Those machines are just too little IMO. They are good for kids, but for adults they are too small, even with the riser. The only reason I’d consider Golden Tee is because it uses a special control panel and because you don’t have 2 players playing at once, so the small size isn’t much of an issue.

Thankfully I have a real arcade cabinet and seeing these Arcade1Up machines has made me want to convert it into a retro pi mame machine. I was googling yesterday and the pi2jamma makes it very easy to do. My monitor has an issue though in that it’s slightly dim so I need to figure out what is going on with that, but other than that it’s in fantastic shape.

I Have a coworker that works right down the road from the Walmart that will have Digimon cyber sleuth in stock. Asked if she could pick it up for me on Friday and I could pay her back when I see her on Saturday and she said it wasn’t an issue. Yay.

Now I don’t have to drive all the way out there. While it’s not a terribly long or difficult drive but it’s in a very congested spot on a Main Street in the city. So it’s not an area I like going to unless I absolutely have to.

For anyone interested our resident video game news anchor @sonichuman posted Digital Foundries in-depth look at Switcher 3 and how it measures up to the PS4 in the Video Game thread. But I figured as his aspiring co-anchor I’d post it here too!

I just finished watching it and long story short they had to tuck graphically where they needed which was expected but overall what they’ve achieved is amazing. Has some fram issues in a few areas but relatively stays at 30fps and they reccommend playing it portable but playing docked is still slightly better. Portable makes sone of the sacrifices made less noticable and of course the xbone/ps4/pc versions still exist. If you want to play Witcher on the go this is the best option.

Seriously though watch that vid. Like I stated earlier in the VGG thread. NO excuses now. Either put the effort in yourself or get it to someone who’s willing to put in the effort.
