The Nintendo Switch Thread! - Deadly Premonition 2: Blessing in Disguise 7/10 - Paper Mario: The Origami King 7/17

I received my Snes switch controller today. The d-pad and the buttons are great. It does have some flaws, you cannot go back to the home menu with it, it also tries to sync every time you press a button when the console is off. You’re better off with a 8bitdo controller.

I posted this in the video game music thread but Marvelous has released the Daemon x Machina OST on iTunes, Google Play, Spotify and Amazon Music.

45 tracks in all.

Link’s Awakening is so good. I played through the 3rd dungeon last night. It’s just so much fun and feels like I’m a kid again playing a Zelda game from my childhood.

I couldn’t remember if I played it back in the day but assumed I did, but when I faced the boss of 3rd dungeon I had a flashback and it triggered something that I just remembered that boss and how you defeat him. So I’m pretty sure I have played it before, even though I don’t remember a thing about it.

Squeenix recently did an interview with a Japanese magazine. They said in the interview that they feel DQXI-S is more of a remake than a straight port due to how much content was added, the amount of QoL adjustments and general work they put into the Switch version. Saying for most the team the general feeling of working on the title was like recreating the game from the ground up.

During the DQXI-S live stream earlier this week The DQXI developers mentioned that DQXI-S was a title Satoru Iwata personally asked Squarenix to bring to the Switch during the switches planning stages and before DQXI had been officially announced. The devs cited that DQXI-S releasing for the Switch on Friday is “a promise we can finally fulfill”

Whats the go with Okami on the Switch? Not a buggy mess is it?

Same with Valyria Chronicles? Not sure if VC4 is worth picking up too??

Dunno about Valyria Chronicles but Okami is a fine Switch port. Even suports the touch screen for drawing.

VC4 is good not to different from the first game, which is anime World War. If you like FE but want something with a more modern setting or want a less harsh turn based strategy with guns that isn’t a straight XCOM clone it is the closet you can get.

IIRC Digital Foundry was really complimentary of the Switch version of Okami.

Snake’s cheeks got hit with that Sean 3rd Strike nerf. Boy had the cleanest booty in Brawl but as the song says, no one man should have all that power.

Bloodstained Switch Port update from 505

Hi, everyone.

Work on the Nintendo Switch graphical and performance update continues. We apologize for the long development cycle. Most of the changes are on a room-by-room, enemy-byenemy basis so there are a significant number of assets being reworked and it’s taking more time than initially expected.

We are pleased with the progress that has been made so far and look forward to getting it into your hands. While the teams are working on an extensive list of myriad improvements, their focus is on four principal areas: Visual Fidelity, Loading Times, Particle Effects and Input Lag.

Visual Fidelity - The way that backgrounds and environments are rendered are being significantly updated. This will result in noticeably sharper environments in most areas throughout the game.

Loading Times - Load times between scenes are being greatly improved, but are still not where we would like them to be, so work remains.

Particle Effects - We have already replaced hundreds of particle effects with new assets and more yet remain. The new ones look the same to the user, but are much less impactful on the performance of the game. This has been one of the main culprits for framerate drops during fights.

Input Lag - Input lag times have been significantly reduced, once work on this is completed the game should feel much more reactive when playing.

The improvements are expected to be released in two separate updates. The first update will contain the vast majority of the improvements. The second update will improve performance with a couple of especially troublesome areas and enemies.

We expect these updates to be launched by the end of November. We will give more specific timeframes when we are closer to release.

After the Switch upgrade is live, there will be a handful of assets/enemies that we want to improve like the Doppleganger enemy for example. These improvements will be part of our regular development cycle and updated when ready.

New Little Town Hero trailer

I still don’t understand how the battle system or party member system works. They’re doing a fucking horrible job of showcasing and explaining both aspects. Which are extremely important when it comes to an rpg.
