The Nintendo Switch Thread! - Deadly Premonition 2: Blessing in Disguise 7/10 - Paper Mario: The Origami King 7/17

Shining Resonance any good? I know its not a traditional Shining game.

Sounds like this lag is your TV.

I’ve played Switch a shitload in both handheld and docked mode exclusively with Pro Controller and never once experienced any lag.

Idk. Never played it. I was going to pick up during Black Friday “week” when it was on sale for iirc $30. But I never did since I had already bought too many games that week.

I remember @hawkingbird (?) saying it was decent tho.

Shining Resonance has a fun battle system and somewhat decent music but that’s about it. The story is the most cringeworthy anime stuff you could possibly come up with, the dating stuff is so bad you might think it was written by a sheltered 12 year old who’s never seen someone from the opposing sex and it has a truckload of backtracking because you can only teleport back to your base but not back into the area you were before.

The good points (battles and music) kind of carry the game for 10 or 15 hours (which is as long as I played it) but after that all the negative stuff starts to overshadow the rest and it just turns into a minor mess IMO.

I have with the post above. Shining Resonance is a decent RPG. Story is the most niche anime bullshit there is. Feels like a really shitty light novel at times. It’s worth it if you can get it for cheap. Never full price.

Agreed. Learned that at a very young age from a wise turtle.

Yep, I bought on sale myself, although have yet to dive in outside of the demo. It is a PS3/360 remaster of a non classic so it definitely doesn’t need to be purchased at full price. I wish Y’s VIII was on sale but that one is Nintendo first party like in the lack of sales.

Some of those sales I posted late last night/early this morning are also going on at Amazon. There’s also some sales going on at Best Buy.

Crash trilogy for $19.99

Target is selling digital codes for 10% off.

Edit: Why are Best Buy Links sooooo dumb? EMBED BITCH

Everything has lag, you just can’t perceive the few ms of latency. Straight wire even has latency.
Look up Rear Admiral Grace Hopper, 11.5 inch piece of wire has a little more than a nanosecond of lag (assuming the electrons are going the max speed of light).

Playing Switch games on handheld mode feels more responsive than on TV for me but that could also be my TV and not the Pro Controller.

Mega Man 11 for $14.99

Sonic Mania (Digital Code) for $13.50

Pokémon: LGP! (digital code) for $40.00

according to a employee working the Electronics section at the Walmart near my house, the layaway program is supposed to start at the end of next month for that store. Wife and I were shopping earlier and we both went down the Nintendo isle and started picking out games that we wanted to get with the system. Current physical game list to go with the system looks kinda like this:

  • Mario Kart 8 Deluxe
  • Smash Bros Ultimate
  • Zelda Breath of the Wild
  • Zelda Links Awakening
  • Pokemon Sword/Shield
  • Super Mario Maker 2

I’m gonna be busy for a while playing all of those …

have been asked by fellow GD members to stop spamming the gif, hence why it got murked

Summary

A subsystem within a subsystem. More new uninspired Pokémon designs. The new key characters seem kinda cool though? The gym leaders so far have been pretty cool looking.

If I’m taking in what I’m seeing correctly though it seems like there are version exclusive gym leaders? That’s a very odd choice.

Edit: yup. According to the :crossed_swords: :shield: website that’s exactly the case. Version exclusive gym leaders.

new dunkey video!

Digimon Cyber Sleuth Complete Edition up for preorder on amazon. Price point is $49.99. Which is fair imo. Both games had a lot of DLC (albeit free) and both were originally $60

Senran Kagura Peach Ball reviews are slowly starting to come out. Surprisingly, They’re ranging from high 7’s and high 8’s.

Going to give a brief summary.

Reviews are citing it as the best Senran spin-off to date.

The game play is excellent, albeit easy but still had enough challenge to be fun.

Plenty of unlockables and it rarely feels like a grind or a chore to unlock them. The unlockables range from costumes, artwork, music, peach ball palettes and more.

Actually applaud the ways they went about fan service. Whether it be visual or dialogue.

Although they showed it being a thing in trailers many reviews stressed that yes, intimacy mode is in game.

The one overall complaint a lot of reviews had is that they feel Marvelous sorta played it safe and approached this as a budget title when there is a frustratingly huge amount of untapped potential.

Summary

The reason they mention it has tons of untapped potential is that the game play is incredibly fun but somewhat limited due to there only being 2 tables and 5 girls from the series making cameos. Most reviews said they hope this game gets ton of DLC because it deserves it.
