The Nintendo Switch Thread! - Deadly Premonition 2: Blessing in Disguise 7/10 - Paper Mario: The Origami King 7/17

The only thing that keeps me from agreeing with you is the D-Pad. It isn’t terrible but it could be better. Give me a Genesis Six Button D-Pad on a Pro Controller and you’d have perfection IMO.

The Xbox 1 controller is the worst. It feels very cheap and plastic and buttons don’t have kind of satisfying action. The Pro Controller is too fucking expensive when the wired one does the same thing for 25 bucks and his a long as fuck cord. A little bit too small tho. PS4 controllers are a bit too expensive to but they are the only option. They have a great build, are very durable, and are the proper size for an adult. Joycons can be used in multiple ways making them pretty dope.

PS4>Wired Switch>Pro>Joycons in grip>Xbone

All current gen controllers suffer from stick lean and it’s fucking annoying as fuck.

Nah fam. Any controller with a D-Pad in the primary position gets an instant L. This is not 1996. Analog is the primary input for 90% of the games. Why is it in secondary spot? Face buttons are the primary input on the right side of the controller and they get the primary spot.

I dunno, works for me in both spots. Literally one of the least important aspects of a controllers design imo. It works just fine in both primary and secondary positions especially since the PS4 controller is large enough for both to feel like primary locations ragardless.

Build quality is infinitely more important to me then the stick being in a primary or secondary position. After 15+ years of both, neither position matters to me at all.

Cause it’s more comfortable that way.

I’ll agree to disagree. I’ve been dealing with the dual shock controller for over twenty years. After more than two decades, I still find it to be ass. Also the DS4’s have shit battery life. I literally have a two of them and a charge stand because they don’t last for shit on a charge. I go days in between charging my pro controller. I only go hours before I need to charge my DS4. My original DS4 died after a year and half. I had to do a battery swap on my second one. At least the PS3 had good third party options so I could avoid the DS3. No dice on PS4. I think they finally got a descent one out but the PS5 is around corner which makes it a waste of cash.

I mean it’s pretty obvious you disagree. I don’t care about the battery, the charger is right there, I just plug it in and keep playing. Ive never stopped playing because a controller has died so I never understand this complaint personally. You can buy a 15 foot charger cable for 5 bucks and forget your DS4 even has a battery.

That’s cool on the pro controller. My 25 dollar wired one never dies. Ever. :coffee:

None of my Ps4 controllers have died. They just stick lean but I’ve gotten that on every controller for the current gen (except xbone as i dont have one but my roomate did and his sticks both leaned) so they all fail in that regard.

Pro Controller is my fave controller since DS2 and/or the Japanese OG Xbox controller.

I mean, I’ve been playing games since before analog sticks existed too, and I still prefer the PS method. Battery life sure, I don’t really care about that personally, the wireless feature of modern pads has nothing to do with my ratings of them. I’d just buy a longer cord if I needed to.

I literally use my DS4 hooked up to a phone charger in the wall outlet next to my chair when playing games. Have never even thought about battery life. Lol.

Yeah I do the same thing

I agree here. While super comfy, the D Pad on the Switch Pro controller is janky. It really became apparent for me with Mario Maker 2. I’ll be doing a speed run in New Supe and all of a sudden I do a ground pound mid jump, fucking up the entire run. I’ve interacted with some Mario streamers and its definitely anot just me and my big dumb thumbs.

I’m looking for a solid replacement just for MM2, and if the Wii U pro controller works with that adapter, that could be the answer. Otherwise I’ll have to look at the pokken or maybe the 8Bitdo. Haven’t decided yet.

If you get one of these

You can hook up stuff ranging from a Wii Classic Pro to a NES Mini controller to your switch. Its the perfect accessory to kick it old school imo.

That’s pretty hot, actually. Thanks, I’ll look more into it. It’d be nice to be able to use a controller I already own.

If I’m gonna need to plug my controller in all the time, charge me half the price for a wired controller.

Nintendo charges far less then half

Not an issue because I have plug in my pro controller once every 3 days IF, I forget to charge it. If I charge when I put my Switch in sleep mode it isn’t an issue.

I’m jus sayin.

Yeah, seems like several MM2 makers use PS4 controllers, I know Barb does for sure.
