The Nintendo Switch Thread! - Deadly Premonition 2: Blessing in Disguise 7/10 - Paper Mario: The Origami King 7/17

It’s also super fun in a very classic arcade kind of way but this extra download thing is a bit of a turnoff…

heh, same deal… I also just recently found the rune that lets you break through floors, and now I have the spider rune too…on the current run I am in the High Peak Castle once again. Time Keeper has become a manageable fight now…this most recent time I beat her with some melee weapon and a good parry-capable shield, and some new powerup I’m using for the first time called “Corrupted Power V+”…let’s see…it adds damage [116 dps] with each attack for 8 seconds! The cost—if I get hit I take +30% damage while this is going on. It also covers the ground in inflammable oil and creates a toxic cloud around me.

This game is dominating my Switch gaming time at the moment, like an obsession… it’s all I play at this point.

Reminder…Halloween Splatfest is going on now.

I’m surprised Trick was the more popular Splatfest pick. I thought for sure it would be Treat.

I actually won a splatfest this time. Every team I chose prior I lost in.

So… new hardware next Summer is it?

Maybe. Rumor keeps popping up so despite Nintend not doing home console upgrades in the past, this may be a first. Everything is still rumor right now…probably sitting at 60% right now on the likely chart.

If they do I will likely upgrade because I’m a fan boy who wants to support my favorite video game company but I am also very materialistic in that I want the newest and shiniest.

Ninty is possibly my second favorite console + game maker.

Maybe tied for first.

But Sega is dead, so yeah.

First for being last standing.

I don’t doubt a revision will come soon. I just don’t think it will be some sort of huge spec upgrade. Improved battery life and a better screen is more likely IMO. If they get the Switch’s Tegra off of 20nm to 14nm. They could get better battery a slight upgrade to the specs. The X1 in the Switch is only running at a little over 75% power when docked. 393 TFLOPS compared to 512 TLOPS. Since several Switch titles run at a variable resolution multiple games would see improved performance even without any patches.

I just want more screen and less bezel. If the revision comes next year, I’ll probably skip it, but grab the revision after that.

Revision would come less too make an Upgraded version and more to fix the terminal flaws in the nvidia Terrga hardware the Switch runs on.

I was planning on buying a Switch for Chrismas, but if there is a new version coming next year, I’ll just wait.

This is what I always do for their (other) portable systems anyway: wait for the second version.

That’s a long wait on something that still doesn’t have quite have substantial evidence yet that it may happen but I get it.

If the thing is real then I suspect it may not happen until maybe holidays of next year. E3 to announce it and then possibly a late fall release. Dunno…sounds like the smart move if it’s legit since if they were to suddenly announce in the Spring after everyone bought the Switch for Smash during the Christmas season it might be too close. Not saying they wouldn’t do that since often times trying to predict what this company does at times is like trying to play wack a mole while drunk.

I just sold my 1st Nintendo Switch console just so I could by the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate bundle.

That seems awfully silly

If you are referring to the flaws that made the Switch easily hackable at the hardware level, those were fixed last year.

Unlike, say, launch DS or launch GBA Switch feels very well-thought-out and cleverly designed and at least on hardware level it’s not really missing anything important. I’m not saying they can’t improve it but you’re not buying a work-in-progress if you pick it up now.

The only thing about the Switch that doesn’t feel very accomplished is the dock but that’s also a part of the kit that’s very unlikely to receive a major makover.

The only thing I’d like to see built into the Switch is bluetooth support for headphones out of the box. It sucks that I’m buying a $40 accessory to use my wireless headphones that work with virtually everything else out of the box.

wishlist for the Switch revision…

  • Normal chat/messaging functionality for the online service
  • Several color options— with all the “style” variants Gameboy and DS/3DS had, it surprises me that Switch has basically almost nothing in comparison…and the “special edition!” versions of the system always look like the laziest shit imaginable.
  • Slightly more power, I guess…yeah…
  • Much better stand built into the back or as a small separate piece…not really a big deal though; if you had the WiiU (all 14 of ya)… that cradle that holds the tablet controller is perfect to hold up the Switch. I use it all the time if I want to put the joycons on the “grip” thing.

That’s about it, imo…other stuff is less of a physical thing and more service-side like more player icon choices (they’ve updated that what…twice?!..and it’s still pathetically small considering how many characters/IPs they own)

On another note— it probably won’t ever come back but I miss the days of the previous gen when “custom soundtrack” was a thing. I seem to be the only person that cares about that feature though, which is a damn shame. On 360, PSP and Vita you could play most games to whatever music you like that’s on the system…and yeah that’s a different thing from “just play music off your stereo in the background, dude.” I remember in the Saint’s Row games…at least the early ones…your custom soundtrack would be in effect as vehicle radio stations…then it would play something else if you’re walking around outside, it would pick another track for when something else happens, etc.
