The Nintendo DS thread v.2

SMT Devil Survivor re-release got me massively hype for getting a 3DS

then i saw the region lock shit and i got tight =/

Iwata just said in a recent investors meeting that a lot of their 3DS games are actually done but they’re holding off to give 3rd parties some room. 3DS eshop and DSi transfers coming in May.

The page already provides a warning, but I will post here anyway: there are extreme spoilers.

EDIT: Question #70

Miyamoto working on New Super Mario Bros. Game for 3DS
Miyamoto Working on New Super Mario Bros. Game for 3DS - DS News at IGN

not surprising anyone but jesus…how many projects is Miyamoto working on right now?

i’m so excited for the 3DS it’s not even funny.

His team is working on shit yeah, I dunno if he’s actually doing much work. But still you’re right, I just hope they take their time and do things well (as usual, but come on, wtf is New Super Mario Bros. Wii?)

I still can’t get over the price, region lock and battery life to be even remotely hyped for 3DS. Hope they hurry along with 3DS Lite or whatever.

This.

If I wanted a graphically intensive handheld with low battery life, I might as well get a PSP. I’m probably just going to ride out the wait until the new version of the 3DS comes out, because we all know that’s coming sooner or later. I will say this about Nintendo though–their redesigns are frakking sexy. The GBA SP was probably the best redesign I’ve ever seen, and the DS Lite was also pretty damn good.

With that kind of history, I’m not really sure I want to dump so much money into a 1st-gen handheld.

If by “working on” you mean showing up once a week in a tee shirt and giving pointers…

so, how many of you have actually pre-ordered the 3DS?

I pre-ordered the blue one in fear of that one selling out didn’t want the black one.

Hey SRK, I’ve been thinking of getting a DS but I don’t know if I should wait for the 3DS or just go with the whatever the newest one is that is currently out. I read that not all DS games will be playable on the 3DS. How many games are we talking about? Any thoughts or recommendations?

Get a current gen one.

Seriously.

Why get a first gen DS3, when the lineup isn’t going to be all that, and there is already a new version being designed as we speak (you know that last is true).

As I see it.

Ghost Trick is pretty good, but after you beat it (which takes a good six hours?), it’s just another game you’ll put away on the shelf.

True.

I just own one of the original DS models and now the battery is just so low. I think I’ll be waiting for the next model of 3DS before picking it up.

Funny how Specs was just talking about Cave Story…

after all these years they are finally doing a region lock on the nintendo portables?

gay

Just popped in here to say Squeek Squad sucks ass I bought it 3 years ago sooo hyped for a new kirby game and it was way too easy even for a kirby game and was so simple and boring as fuck. Don’t buy it.

So I like supporting developers buying games but carrying all those chips is a pain in the ass is there something that lets you store a bunch of games in thing? Also I;m guessing my r4 won’t work on 3ds…

Ok, I think I decided to get a DS. I really don’t know much about the games so can someone give me some recommendations? Maybe a top 10 favorites or must owns, something like that.

  • I’d like to get a Final Fantasy or two but there’s a bunch and I’m not sure which one to get. Maybe tactics.
  • I’ve heard a lot of people on SRK like the Phoenix Wright games. Any good?
  • What are some good Mario games?

Thanks

Advance Wars: Dual Strike
Planet Puzzle League
Mario Kart DS
New Super Mario Bros.
Contra 4

Nice, I’ll look into those. Forgot about Advance Wars.

Thanks Blinky
