The Nintendo DS thread v.2

Granted they are cheap, but seriously… They actually released a normal ol’ calculator and a normal ol’ alarm clock as full DSiWare? :lame:

Now this does raise a point though: The DS would be a good place to provide a graphing calculator tool. And if they released that on DSiWare for like 500 points, if you already had a DSi it would be a lot cheaper than buying a TI-81 for Algebra class.

Anyone heard of Scribblenauts? the second trailer for the game came out today

Scribblenauts - trailer 2

lmao did i just see him maul something with a crowbar hahahahah

the concept of this game is fucking amazing. I’ve been keeping tabs on it ever since it was first announced. They’re putting a large library of stuff to use (last I remember from the dev diary…they’re actually going through the dictionary) and you write that in and it appears. So if you didn’t want to use a crowbar and instead bring in a rocket launcher to solve your problem…You probably could do it. It’s mostly going to be limited to your imagination on how you solve things.

can someone explain to me what the hype is about Mother 3 (Earthbound 3)?

and Scribblenauts is being overhyped. If it won’t let me use “Dildo” to bash a dinosaur’s head in, then me no buy.

has anyone picked up a DSi flash cart? Im scared to buy one cuz im worried that nintendo will release a mandatory firmware update blocking it.

Once I’m finished with Suikoden, I’ll never play it again, which is a shame considering the amoutn of times I’ve played the first two installments.

TI-81? Eff that, give me my TI-89, Maple, or a Voyage 2000 and we’d be talking. I’d shell out a few thousand points for that.

anyone else playing dark spire?

I just got to the 5th floor and I’m getting raped pretty bad by spellcasters. I’m not sure if im missing some sort of special ability that will help me. oh well. I guess I’ll have to put it down for now because I just got Super Robot Taisen og.

Is it just me, or does the protagonist of Suikoden talk REALLY fast? The voice acting is fucking annoying.

in the beginning it bothered me, but it seemed to mellow out near the middle to end. I kind of liked it after a while.

any1 playing Super Robot Wars OG Saga Endless Frontier?

the game is real fun! the battle system is one of those active type ones where u press buttons a lot, so if u enjoy Mario RPG, Shadow Hearts, or Legend of Dragoon battle system u will enjoy this.

game has a lot of titties and titties jokes too. and robots.

This is embarassing but after about 6 attempts in starting Dragon Quest 5 on various platforms in the past 10 years i finally got past the first hour or so of the game and beat it on the DS.

It was ok but the game just didn’t have the character of the other DQ games, especially my favorite (part 4).

Anyway I just wanted to get that off my chest, now looking forward to Dragon Quest 6 or 9, whichever comes first. It’s been about 6 or 7 years since I played a translated version of 6 so I wouldn’t mind playing through it again on the DS, but I’m more looking forward to part 9. Hopefully it comes out sometime this century.

man i haven’t picked up no ds titles in months, been stuck on FE DS wifi. That shit is addictive kinda.

Holy crap Super Robot Wars OG Saga Endless Frontier looks fun.

super robot taisen is a lot of fun and finding the perfect combos and the timings actually is sort of challenging once the enemy starts doing their version of combobreakers. no stores around me had it though, so I had to order it. stupid atlus making hard to find games.

Coming from someone who’s had no experience with Mother 1/2, Mother 3 is a pretty quirky RPG. It has the trappings of a basic RPG (items, leveling up, magic attacks), but it’s probably the music, storyline and dialogue that set it apart from other RPGs.

The music is extremely well-done (it’s integrated into battles as a combo system), the dialogue–even in the battles or menus–is good enough to evoke a laugh from time to time, and the storyline isn’t Shakespeare, but it’s certainly enjoyable. There are times when the story’s emotionally moving and tragic, and times when it’s just plain funny–which is something I’ve certainly never experienced in a RPG for a while.

It’s a good game by all accounts.

super robot wars og endless frontier is too good.
