The Nintendo DS thread v.2

That’s pretty gay to screw over ds lite owners, it’s understandable the first time but after a third revision of the same handheld it’s retarded but a brilliant business move.

Anyways paying for ds games is a waste of money when you can get them free right? I need help so pm me.

Also what’s the general consensus on dsi? fail or awesome or meh? I’m always up on having new tech but this just sounds like a waste of money it has a slightly bigger screen, shitty camera, plays a bit of shitty music while also not having the gba slot n less battery life.

Whether it would be good or not depends on the games that come out for it.

Also, technically the DSlite was just a design remodel; it had no lite-only games. You could still use your DStank if you wanted to.

However, I’m a bit miffed on the DSi having i-only games. But I’m not surprised. It’s Nintendo.

Maybe I’ll pick up a DSi when ‘homebrew’ stuff comes out for it.

Well, I personally don’t see the need for a new DS considering the lite is doing so well. Sure the new ds looks great but it’s just eye candy for now.

It would take quite a bit to get me to fork over cash for a DSi. I’m talking about an FF6 remake or a new 2D Mario game.

Or a Zelda 2 remake w/ enhanced 2D graphics and no bullshit stylus controls. That would do it too.

its been said many times over in this thread that the DSi is a glorified DS, which is actually a good thing. It has a higher processing speed and 4x the memory. atm, though, there are just too many DS games that can be easily played on a DS before there is any need to move on to the next DS iteration.

what I was really looking forward to was bluetooth connectivity. I mean, c’mon now, wires are so 2000-2004ish.

Henry Hatsworth is getting mildly challenging already, and I’m only in world 2. The humor continues to keep me laughing.

I really am not fond of the DSi’s appearance. I think the light is much more sleek and elegant. Plus, as has been stated, I see no purpose to having two cameras. I’m sticking with the lite for now.

Haven’t played any ds games since phoenix wright2 came out other then phantom hourglass which I should’ve bought when I had the chance

List of games I want in order:

1.ninja gaiden
2.phantom
3.layton 9only played a lil bit but it was really fun I like games that make me think)
4.bangai (I don’t know wtf it is but it looks a lot like my favorite shumps)
5.canvas curse (looks hit but I hope it’s not like squeek squad that game was trash)
6.pw3/apollo
7.gta (highest rated ds game but I’m not loving the topdown view)
8.yoshi island
9. advance wars (never played an aw which one is better the 05 or 08?)
10.sonic rush2
11.n+
12.chrono trigger

games I have no idea if they’re good or not:
big bang
world ends
dq5
revenant wings
lunar knights
retro game

Any feedback on any of these games would be appreciated as of now ninja, ph, and layton are the only ds games I know are definitely getting my money.

I’m not, I’m paying extra for the new system, I want the extra power to be used for something.

Final Fantasy CC: Echoes of Time is the best game on the DS. Prolly my fav Final Fantasy too :smokin:

Don’t think I can take Chinatown Wars out of my DS. Wished I pre-ordered it, too. That 10 Gs sound pretty good right now. Especially when you’re safehouse hunting. I can’t raise that much. If you hate the top view so much, change it to the Movie View when you’re driving. It’s a real pain in the ass, but it’s got a dramatic feel to it.

Ninja Gaiden:DS is a fun title. Hard Mode is pretty difficult.

Definately, Phantom Hourglass is a must play. Not much after-complete options, but a great game nevertheless.

About your 9: Well, it’s the latest one for me because it drops the campy feel the previous AW titles gave it. Sure, Dual Strike, and the others before it, keeps the SNES version aestetic. but Days of Ruin is the better title. People die and people feel death in Days of Ruin and the story helps with the theme. Not to mention the online play mode.

Zoolander: as I have stated before, if you’re in need of puzzle variety, get PPL.

Anyone playing broken sword?

what to you get to world 4, it had me going crazy, after i beat the second stage i wanted to play more but i stopped because i was getting so pissed. still a great game though, just the difficultly curve should have been more gradual

Thanks for the heads up, I’ll check it out later.

I like the style of the advance War titles (especially character design), but I like the one in Ruin too. And as you say, Ruins plot is extremely good. I was very surprised at how good the dialog and plot was, actually.
But the graphics in the “fight scenes” are dissapointing. No beatiful pixel art like the old games, just kinda ugly drawn art if I remember correctly.

Speaking of the style of the Advance Wars series, I was slighty surprised when I found out that Hiroaki (yes, the SNK artist) worked on the designs/art for Days of Ruin.

I’m thinking of buying a DS Lite, I need to get money before they stop selling them outright.

What do you mean? El Dorado V? Hell and Heaven is EnVlcBXpTtc]this… and with more epic goodness - !! Virtual On? They were also featured in Alpha 3… with voice acting and better sprites. Pure awesomeness, I say. (:

ROOOOOOLLLIIIINGGG STTAAAAAAAARRRRRTTTT~

I’m with you on that. I wasn’t a fan of the entirely forced stylus-based gameplay of Phantom Hourglass. I do wish Nintendo would utilize the d-pad and the XYBA buttons with the touch screen harmoniously in a future DS Zelda title.

That would be gun.

But for Advance Wars, if you loved playing the first two on the GBA then I would recommend Dual Strike but if you’re after something a little different from that, go for Days of Ruin.

I personally loved Dual Strike and thought Days of Ruin was a great addition but that appeal didn’t last very long even I loved most of the great unit additions and capabilities. But overall, I found the levels generally harder in Days of Ruin than DS, especially ones that specifically require you to rush.

It’s really up to you man.

My Blue Dragon Plus game from eBay came in a clear package. And the instruction manual looks off. Either this is from some other region, or it’s bootleg to the extreme. I mean, it seems to work fine, but…

I guess that’s what I get for buying it new for $13.
