Toriyama is everywhere! Think I’ll hold off on Blue Dragon Plus,* Dragon Quest remakes*, and Dragon Ball Origins if I get Chrono Trigger. That’d be too many cross-eyed characters for my liking. Still, the Blue Dragon show itself is intriguing enough to warrant the purchase of the handheld sequel. It’s good to see Akira keep such a style for his new work.

In that case, I’d say, yeah, buy it. It has larger screens, has a supposedly faster chipset, dual touch screens, better wifi (802.11g now), and media player. If I wasn’t a nasty bootlegger, I’d probably get one.

As long as you dont play GBA games and dont care for Guitar Hero On Tour, then its a decent purchase.

Actually the dual touch screen was just a rumor. I’m 99% sure that it still only has one touch screen.

Black Sigil: Blade of the Exiled. It’s by Canadian dev Studio Archcraft and is supposed to be a throwback to SNES RPGs, including a Mode 7 world map. :tup: Also has a Final Fantasy-esque real-time turn-based combat system of sorts.

Yeah, that title has been on a lot of people’s list for a long time. They keep on pushing the game back, and there isn’t a set date for release. Any game that borrows and builds from the SNES era of RPG gets a thumbs up from me.

Looks pretty damn good. I am intrigued. Sounds like a nice change of pace from the RPGs that have been coming to the DS recently.

super card, I used the patch that they made for the J version but it still gets frozen after the first gate.

I’m going to put off CT until after i’ve give black sigil some good playing time. If I were to play CT now, my enthusiasm for BS wouldn’t be as high. And besides, i’ve already played CT for the SNES so I’m not in a rush to replay it right now.

Rest assured I will pick it up though!

Dragon Quest IX Update

The major area of this update concerns character customization. Unlike past DQ games, DQIX lets players create a unique main character prior to the start of play. You can set areas like gender, body type, face type, hair style and color, skin color and eye color.

Once you have a character set to your liking, you’ll find yourself in a pub known as Ruida’s Pub. Staffed by three ladies, Ruida, Rika and Roxanne, this place serves as your base of operations for your adventure.

While Rika and Roxanne’s functions aren’t known at the moment, Ruida will offer you pre-set party member choices. Going through her, you can assemble a party quickly and head out on adventures with little wait.

Ruida’s pre-set characters can’t be modified aside from changes to equipment and accessories in eight areas. Those who want to spend time creating their party members from scratch can also do so using the same tools they used to create the main character.

In addition to a look at the character customization and pub area, the screens we’ve included in our media section below offer a look at five of the game’s character classes. During character creation, you’re free to assign a class, or job, to your character. As in most RPGs, the class affects battle style and strength. So far, Square Enix has detailed Warrior, Mag, Monk, Martial Artist and Thief jobs.

Started playing Metal Slug 7. Good fun so far. Mission 3 is kicking my ass.

It feels strange being able to carry multiple weapons though. As does characters having special abilities. Currently I think that Ralf is the best, followed by Fio. Ralf’s Vulcan Punch rips armored enemies and vehicles apart so fast.
