It’s still good to play through Easy mode to get a feel for the stages. It will help when tackling Normal.
Im thinking about checking out Chrono Trigger when it hits stores. Quick question. Does CT have elemental summons like Chrono Cross? (played Cross but not Trigger)
If Square could somehow port Cross to the DS, that would make my year! Wishful thinking…:wonder:
There are elemental spells, but no summons persay.
The closest thing in the game to summons is the combination attacks you can dish out with your party. Party members that gain exp together will eventually learn techniques that they can execute together. Some of the 3 person attacks are really fuggin’ sweet.

I was sooooooooo disappointed with Crono Cross… mostly the because of the gameplay, and because no matter how many characters you had, they had little variance between each other. Story line was decent at best. Crono Trigger blows cross outta the water. Looks like they’re adding more content to CT DS.

I tried playing Chrono Cross before playing Trigger since I thought it would be as good as FF7.
Didn’t even playing it for longer than an hour. Chrono Trigger on the other hand? When I picked that up, I couldn’t put it down! The music, design, gameplay, you name it, was.on.point!
Chrono Cross is one of the most underrated games of all tiem. The thing that sank it for most people was that it wasn’t Chrono Trigger 2. It expanded the story for Chrono Trigger in a really brilliant way. The battle system was great, the graphics were great, it has the most incredible soundtrack I’ve ever heard, but everybody wanted Chrono Trigger 2 and because it wasn’t that, people shit on it.
Oh, and Catchafire, I don’t know who you’re refering to in your sig, but change it before the mod who obviously pissed you off decides to ban you for insulting them after you had a thread closed.

That was one of the very few soundtracks I could actually listen to from the first to last song without skipping a track.
I’m still on the fence about buying CT YET AGAIN. Chances are, I will not. I just can’t bring myself to buy a game I have bought twice in the past.
I still have my original snes copy, and it keeps staring at me.

Anyway, CT’s the PSX version of the game, so I won’t feel completely ripped off. Akira Toriyama’s style in this game looks similar to the Dragon Ball GT anime he’s helped out with. Just with a better storyline. Like the *Front Mission DS, *this game looks like a must-play. Must play.

Side note: I’ve been playing Air Traffic Chaos and it’s a really fun game, although it’s hard as #uck! If this is a glimpse of what it means to be an air traffic controller then I want no part of that job.
This is so fucking true. Cross wasn’t a bad game (by JRPG standards at least), yet it gets a lot of irrational hate from CT fanboys.
As an aside, I can’t wait for the new Valkyrie Profile… it comes out in a couple of days in Japan doesn’t it?
Chrono Cross wasn’t that bad, but it wasn’t very good either. That’s the problem.
I don’t see how it’s any worse than the typically acclaimed JRPGs.

QFMFT! Chrono Cross had a nice battle system where you could of attack multple times instead of once. Loved that. The innate color strength/weakness, great sound track, graphics, cut scenes etc. While there were a few gripes I had with the game, It is was an overall great game that is truly underrated.
BULL…SHIT!! I would LOVE to hear why you think that way. I played the entire game and ended it. (Ditto with my brothers.) How this game “wasnt very good” is beyond me. maybe it something that Im missing… :wondering:

Chrono Cross was all right, but the thing is, Valkyrie Profile was released around the same time and that game blew me away at how original and fun it was. The best thing about CC was easily the music.
