The Nintendo DS thread v.2

if you think the crab is bad, wait til you get to the sand fish. What a bitch.

I am at albus right now. He’s annoying as fuck too.

Fish isn’t bad, I pounded that bitch with my vol hammer into super hammer.

Is there a mist/flying form? I already have the bat one and that one doesn’t even fly!

Because IGN is the devil. Famitsu >>>> IGN!

Oh god has anybody found the mom yet? That’s the only villager I’m missing and I’m positive she’s either in misty forest road or tristis pass.

If you beat albus without getting all the villagers u just get the bad ending

 He has the same stance too. I never let him grab me though, only saw the Q kick.

I thought the Crab boss was hard at first, until I stayed on the 2nd top platform and just wailed on him. He can never hit you there, and the only times he can you can just jump out of the way. I was up 'till 6 A.M. playing this shit, small DS screen+weed=eyes looking like Akuma’s. They’re still kind of fucked up and this is 8 hours later.

Mom is behind the waterfall in that one level, where it used to be frozen until you get the glyph and thaw it. I think that’s Tristis Pass, but I’m not sure.

Wait how short is this game? You already fionished it?

There’s an entire castle after you save all the villagers and beat Albus. The Castle is huge, and supposedly it’s as big as the one in Dawn of Sorrow.

Ok. I just finished the cave with the Skull head boss.

You’re going to have to be more specific. I’m at the waterfall part and all i see if the water pounding down on my face =[[[

edit:

many thanks, i feel like a moron now D=

Well, stand to the right of the waterfall and jump in between the waterfall and that little piece of rock onto the rock. Then just jump to the top from there, using double jump+down jump to get through the waterfall onto where the treasure chests are and that mushroom.

I died on the crab a couple times but i figured it out

this game is so NOT just stand there and beat the shit out of bosses

I LOVE IT!!

right, so when you beat bosses without taking any hits you get medals - which serve absolutely no purpose - but if you’re a completionist like me you have to get em anyways. here’s some boss strats that worked for me so far:

stuff.

Spoiler

tbh by now, there are a bunch of youtube video tutorials (thanks no$gba) - go there if you’re stuck. guess the last thing I’ll say is fire/ice union rapes the sand fish for free.

contra lookin’ boss: ironic, considering this is pretty easy. just spam the shit out of him and bdash/hug the wall when it’s about to claw you. nets are easy to avoid. magnes when it goes all jigglypuff. etc. etc. etc.

skeleton: same shit. just spam the shit out of him and bdash when it makes any sort of motion. you don’t even need good reflexes. if you wanna play it real safe, wait til it does the kick and then whack at it. by the way, use the hammer; it’s, uh, super effective. if you’re patient you can also axe it (axe armor drops the glyph). when you’re cornered, duck - it’s gonna kick. sooner or later it’ll back up and then do this silly dive - just walk under it. when it rolls back, magnes back. rinse and repeat.

giant enemy crab: even the fucking game calls it that, loool. few pointers:

  • use the hammer. crabs don’t like being cracked open eh?
  • every time you ascend, stay on the topmost platform and wait until the crab reaches you (you’ll know what I mean). stay on the left.
  • otherwise, drop down to the lower platform and start, uh, attacking its weak point for massive damage.
  • hammer spam negates bubbles.
  • when you do enough damage, it will slowly inch its claw towards you - that’s your signal to jump. the trick is to be alert - when you think you’ve hurt the boss enough wait after it’s done with an attack pattern
  • jump back down and wait it out (i.e. cause massive damage) as the crab vents on the ceiling. two exceptions: the 1st time the crab goes mad, it’ll whack the ceiling three times. on the third time, however, it will try to whack you (i.e. it will home on you). if you stay in the bottom left corner you WILL GET HIT. that means after the 2nd whack, jump up to the top platform and wait in the middle. when it’s about to claw a 3rd time, retreat. also, when you get to the 3rd ceiling, you’ll want to wait on the top platform.
  • don’t mess up the last jump, lol.

skull head: annoying. the two best glyphs for this situation imo are the vol macis and luminatio. kinda luck based. here’s the algorithm

  • when the head rises out of the ground, spam up+Y with hammer
  • when you run out of hearts, switch to luminatio and… spam that too. you should PLENTY of mp by now. what makes luminatio so crucial is that it cancels out the really annoying skeleton jacks (most of the time). that makes the tentacles the only concern. slide when necessary.

edit: fuck me, it’s a lot more efficient spamming up+Y ice. lol.

mermaid: you can play it ranged and win it out by attrition. try lightning. the only attacks you really have to worry about are her water reppuken and the tsunami. but this is boring.
the glyph that will make this a LOT easier is pnuema. your reppuken is a lot better than the boss’ - crazy wind weakness.

the idea here is not unlike previous strats. get in her face and mash ground reppuken in spurts, bdash cancel and then jump away. don’t use up+X; raging storm doesn’t have enough invincibility and you recover too slowly. you should retreat every time just to be safe, but if you’re feeling sharp, her attacks are telegraphed like crazy - if you see her make ANY movement, bdash jump will avoid the attack. if she calls in the spikes or uses her antiair, you’re in luck, go crazy.

obviously don’t break the spikes. if you’re using the spider summon, be very careful not to let the spider break the spike when you’re taking cover from the tsunami, lol. ideally with proper spacing you should have a readily accessible spike behind you. constant reppus should keep her in the same spot.

you need like 70-80 hits to take her down, give or take depending on your level.

frankenstein: hard at first. on the positive side, if you mess up, you get to, uh, die quickly! and start over faster!

his attacks are telegraphed even more than mermaid demon, with one exception. if you’re running away from ceiling planks, don’t just run back at his face - you might eat his spike punch. if he’s already diving, bdash and double jump as far as possible.

two weapons of choice: vol axe and reppuken. I personally used reppuken, but axe is just as effective because he’s so fucking tall. plus if you’re on a bind when the planks fall, you can axe 'em, though 99% of the time you can simply dodge 'em. you can try vol scythe, but you really need to play it ranged this time.

whenever he dives, you get raging storm for free - as long as you do it on startup. you’ll recover quickly enough to escape his jax pound.

obviously duck under the legs when he starts running (well, strutting) at you. if you want you can lead him on and get extra hits, but you CAN get cornered. if you do you die by hundred hands.

100 or so hits and you should do fine.

more strats as I run into more bosses and figure out what to do.

So Spiderman: Web of Shodows for the DS is getting better reviews than it’s console counterparts…maybe I’ll pick it up first.

I’m playing OOE too, and I’m loving it. The game itself it’s not that hard so far, but yeah the bosses are annoying as fuck until you figure out the exact strategy to beat them. I’m at the sandfish right now, stopped after a few deaths cause I’ve been playing the game for hours.

As for the crab, he’s not that hard once you figure out how to beat him. Right when you start, climb up to the last platform, wait for the crab to stop climbing (not before, he can hit you with its leg), and then jump to the small platform to the left. Use glyphs that hit very low like hammers and sickles. Just crouch there and combo the fuck out of him, you’ll constantly hit one of its legs and you’ll be safe against the bubbles. Watch out because once in a “round” it’ll try to catch you with its claws. Just jump to the upper platform again and after it’s done go back to your safe spot again. After it breaks the ceiling, do the exact same process. In the third round, repeat the strategy but when it gets angry and starts hitting the ceiling / walls, go to the upper platform again and just wait crouched in the left. Then go back to the safe spot again and keep hitting.

At last, just climb quickly using the magnet glyph (don’t use the platforms, the crab will catch you) and when you reach the last magnet use it to reach one of the ledges at the sides. Now you just have to jump up to the elevator, and you’ll automatically kill the fucker.

I hope that was clear enough.

Lol Adverse, the Ketsui game is fucked up.

Any reason why I shouldn’t be using the B (lock?) shot instead of the Y one? Only thing I notice is that I get the bigger 5 multiplier and more damage using the B shot.

hehe

the regular shot (Y) is not very effective in this game since it’s a boss rush. there may be some weird scoring mechanic with it given that it gives a totally different color of multiplier chip, but i’m not sure yet.

see if you can get to death label mode. that shit is tits-out hard ;D

I found the lightning Glyph works wonders againts the crab boss; it seeks out the enemy and attacks. The damage is much less than the weapon glyphs, but it’s alot safer.

Minotaur boss is a complete bitch.

I hope OOE doesn’t have a broken skill like 1000 blades in POR , that shit made bosses so easy.
