i honestly dont know, when i see somebody doing them online and dropping like 3 times in a match, it just leaves me baffled. i always go for combos that i know i will never drop.
Right now, my normal BnB does around…360 starting off a cr.HP. Doing the Double SS brings me around 411 (I say around because it’s extremely hard to see the damn numbers on my TV. Obviously I haven’t started using the Double SS because I don’t have the faith of not dropping them and if I can’t get the consistency up to at least 80% I will never use them in a match, but if I CAN get the consistency up there’s absolutely no reason not to use it.
I dont use them for the damage. Its 10x easier to land her super from skullsplitter than geyser. 10x easier for cross art too. More damage obviously, and lastly easier to land raw launcher at the end of them. sure its a bit tight but trust me once you get it down the options she gets just keep comin. plus they look cooler.
i have no problems with both super and cross off geyser. but i dont use them anyway because its a huge waste of meter. i only use cross art if enemy has shitloads of recoverable health or if it will kill them.
i never miss cross art, and timing for super is easy - you have to do it when enemy character is on his back in the air.
I always thought ss combos were considered her most optimized combo

They are (except for maybe Tag Canceling, Geyser is usually the better option there).
i thought the same until i saw 6:48:

I meant being used in the Tag Cancel not coming off of it.
I agree I don’t feel like trying to re learn her bnbs for like 50 damage though. I guess if you want to be the best you can be, go for it.
Do you guys think Nina will play significantly different in v2013?
Based on how they’ve changed blonde bomb I’m expecting it to be a very long range poke that is relatively safe if spaced properly. That in itself is a significant change.
Obviously her anti-air problems will be all but gone now. I’m wondering if lk geyser will be able to anti air ppl directly above her.
I think her air defense is going to be much more solid, but her ground game will be very different. She seems more like either a long range poke artist with her skullsplitter and blonde bomb or an in your face mix up character. I don’t think her normals are going to be that good anymore so she probably can’t play footsies well anymore (she was only ok at that in my book to begin with).
Her strings still have nice hitboxes so she may still play very similarly just with more damage.
This is about where I am with the SS combos as well. i do practice them but they just are not consistent for me at all yet.
Once they are, ill be using them.

Just got to wait and see how bad the hit boxes were reduced. And yea she aint no chun or julia in the footsie department.

She wasn’t to begin with. Her AA game gets better, but so did pretty much every Tekken character’s. Idk, it seems like in 2013 the game will change around her moreso than her changing herself. She doesn’t seem all that different other than having a better AA, which again, everyone on the Tekken side now has.
Now i was never a big tekken person, but do you guys think she transitioned over to 2d style fighting pretty well or is she missing some key attacks or stances that could have possibly made her scarier than she already is?

Her butterfly combo into ivory cutter would have been a nice thing to have in this game.
Because how do I become a better player if I never attempt to try something more difficult? Also if you use gems ( I don’t), then the skull crusher combo would be better since it incorporates normals/special moves and a launcher. Besides, no one likes looking at the same boring combos over and over again. I like mixing it up.
Hey! Have you guys tried her back dash trap? If you do the flash kick (df short, df forward) it’ll catch like every backdash (except xia and chun, well… it catches but you have to alter your follow up). You can do command throw or BB and it’ll hit or you can do geyser and go into SC(isn’t the move called skull crusher?) combos. No more backdashing!
I wish they would have given her the reverse ivory cutter or ray hands or WS1
if you screw spacing even a little bit, you gonna get punished real hard. more than that, 1st hit of flashkicks is -3 on block, so your opponent can reversal dp or super or whatever he wants to do. somebody did that to me the other day.
