The NGBC Thread Version 2.0-Team tournaments in NGBC from here on out!

Well, at least a points system, while confusing, is far less scrubby than “soft-banning”.

Especially since “soft-banning” doesn’t actually do anything other than frown on people who play the game the way it was designed and use top-tiers to win just like any tournament winner ought to.

If a points system would actually get people interested in KOFXI and NGBC in the US then I would be all for it. I would just want a LOT of thought and variety of opinions going into making the tier list.

HOW ABOUT THIS:

We all take a vote on NGBC tiers. Let’s take the first 30 or so votes from players who have ACTUALLY ENTERED AN NGBC TOURNAMENT IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS (let’s say…from Final Round X to the present).

Then each voter fills out a bracket:

(S-Tier: Worth 2 points)–5 characters

(A-Tier: Worth 1.5 pts)–7 characters

(B-Tier: Worth 1 pt)–15 characters

(C-Tier: Worth 0.5 pt)-- 7 characters

(D-Tier: Worth 0 pt)–5 characters

For each vote, characters given points based on their tier placing. After all voting, the point average of the character is determined and his/her tier placing is given based on the closest range.

Okay…want me to make the poll??? Also when should this take effect and start happening in tourmanents?

Soft-banning would not work in the US.

As for tiers, this would get the discussion going on the mid-tiers. We might find something out about one of them. I thought Shiki was a B originally, but now I can argue her being A.

This also would allow people to use Big, but just with Yuki or Nak. (That’s the D tier right?)

Softbanning wont work here…and yeah if they wanna play Big they gotta use Yuki or Nak…that would be the perfect balance…

That said, I don’t think the game has been played quite enough yet to require it. It all depends on demand. If we can get twice as many people for the tournament using the points system, I don’t see why not.
I just want people to get to know the REAL NGBC first before starting on these alternate versions.

Truth is as stated before that it has not been played enough. Only a hand full of us experiment thru training mode to find something new and that is definitely not enough people. That would probably be NC and DG with maybe a couple others. I watched the first match between Brent and Jwong @ FRXI and Shiki/Mai with the same consistency in the other matches could have definitely gotten the job done against Kim/Big. It’s still out there right now, but all we can do is play it more.

I am to the point I dont even know if I can discover anything new in NGBC to be honest…

So yes a Point System tournament would be great to me certainly…encourage variety…

if not I can see things all boiling down to Big-Kim…and how much fun that would be??? EVO World this year??

Not enough research on the top tiers, they have but loads of weaknesses.

Goodman not playable in the arcade, not playable in tournament. Period.

What is wrong with this generation, seriously? Do your homework, study the top-tier, study the game engine, study your characters options on gaurd, hit, hit in the air, ultimate juggle properties, invincible properties either high or low.

Chun, Ken, and Yun have crap loads of weaknesses and I can beat them all if they leave that weakness open but i train and read so i can have the reaction and the knowledge base to get the opening that the programers left there for me to find.

That’s my point exactly. Someone else may find something out. Look at how the tiers changed in CVS2, MVC2, 3s…well maybe not 3s, T5DR, SSBB, SC3, and other games. This game has just been released stateside and there are still people that are good in other communities that don’t post at SRK. I think NGBC tiers are being a little rushed to conclusion. No way this game can be that shallow with so many options.

Why they quit NGBC before SBO… Also I doubt someone is gonna find something groundbreaking that me or the Triad or Joey havent crossed yet in NGBC… Also I may just experiment with the Point System a tournament just to see how things turn out…

Just tested Mr.Big’s crouching “A” , the relative recovery is +2. That is why people get thrown over and over because it is a traditional tick throw advantage.

Counted the number of crouching jabs need to break gaurd bar from Mr.Big and Kim.

38 jabs in a row for Mr.Big. 38 jabs in a row for Kim. No interruption and no tag outs.

Don’t be to sure. Durham had the atomiswave board and NGBC before anybody thanks to Neo-Jedi. There is something very ugly about this game but I choose not to saying anything for the enjoyment of the few people that play. The japanese quit for a reason. This is a warning.

I am just praying SNKp makes a new one for the Taito X2…not only would it look great but they would fix what was wrong with NGBC1…then if its wrong with NGBC2 why not make upgrades???

I dont see why they couldnt make a NGBC Version 2.0 or NeoWave type that fixes the issues with the first one???
