I think a Kim / Big ban would be in the best interest of this game. As long as they remain the way they are, everyone in going to use them in a competitive scene. They just have too many unfair advantages that other characters just don’t have. Of course once you ban them, is every team going to turn into Marco / Hotaru? Are they as overpowering as the current top tier? Is this game broken so far beyond playability that it’s not even worth all this banning because you fix one problem and something else breaks? And most of all, is forward step guard cancel the true reason the japanese don’t play it? Maybe so.
This conversation is rediculous. No points for XI, no points for NGBC, no Goodman, no softban. I don’t really even want to question the reasons someone may do this (especially allowing Goodman).

Bottom line: Dark Geese beat the fuck out of Mago’s Kim/Big team with two characters that supposedly suck. That seems like a decently balanced game to me.

The game’s system is more broken than the characters, namely the backturned throw crossups, meter always building no matter what, GCFS to a more minor degree and then you have the top tier.
I find myself agreeing with Edward for once, at least partially. I’m 100% with Alex though, leave the game alone. This is coming from the guy that fought Justin in grand finals, okay? I like the challenge. No tops -would- make things like cake for me like I said earlier, but I’m just against doing things like this in principle. The scrubbery here has gotten whack.

Well that will be the ultimate result. Beating people with Goodman will result in A) Even more people hating DG and B)Even less people playing NGBC. Finally NGBC will fall into crap all together.
Big/Kim are bad enough but to proudly display the brokeness of Goodman and brag about it does nothing good for NGBC. Even you DG must have known that Goodman in a tourney will do nothing but bury NGBC. And if you win with him what are you gonna brag about? There’s nothing to be proud of when it comes to winning with Goodman. And imagine if you LOSE? You’ll be the biggest joke of the SNK scene.

I think tiers will always be something to discuss about…but allowing goodman makes the things even worse. Ok, Big/Kim team IS strong, it would be stupid to deny it…but i think they ARE beatable somehow, there are a lot of good chars like Marco, Tung, Hotaru and uhmm well, kyo, Moriya, etc.
BTW, does anyone if Lee stands a chance against that team? as far as I know he is not bad and is B tier or something, i havent seen a good lee player since Debukun.
Yeah, I put the idea for a points system up, but only as a less dumb idea to Goodman whoring. Also, fact is, removing Big and Kim would actually hurt the balance of the game overall, as the new top tier would likely end up being even more dominating.
I support the general consensus of the NC players that this idea shouldn’t be considered. I can’t speak for the Triad- but I can guarantee that none of this will ever happen in NC.
I guess that makes all this discussion sort of pointless anyway. The real question we have to ask is how do we get more people to play this game? NC has done well in this, but what about other areas?

Allowing a boss character that isn’t playable in the arcade, has not been toned down as a selectable character, who’s moves all look the same, etc etc. makes no sense. Learn how to play the game, exploit the system, and fight the top tiers.
…or just allow a broken, banned character who only Dark Geese has bothered to learn…
