So instead of making a Money Match and a separate tournament…

Dark Geese it’s your tournament, but I would have just soft banned the usage of Kim and Big or Kim and Hotaru together.
We’re actually talking about that…some say I should softban Kim, Hotaru, Tung, Big…some say its too early…so its in the discussion right now…
Why softban playable characters?
I would understand Goodman being banned… Him being the end boss and all…

Regarding Big/Kim, eh whatever man. It’d sure make things a lot easier for me lol.
Isn’t this like all the other ideas of trying to softban characters in other games? (i.e. OG Sagat from ST, Chun/Ken/Yun from 3S, Big 4 in MvC 2)

Trust me this is the ONLY Goodman tournament…people are clamoring over seeing it for MWC so its kinda like a Money Match thing…
The Low Tier NGBC Tournaments are gonna take effect after EVO World though… But come chip in in regards to no Goodman in the SNK thread since thats where all the Goodman discussion is going on.
I’d suggest a points system
2 pts max
S tiers are 2 pts
A tiers are 1.5pts
B tiers are 1 pt
C tiers are .5 pts
D tiers and below are free.

In Japan/China they started a points system for KOF XI, as a matter of fact.
I understand the concept of a points system but I don’t think it works well in practice.
This is because of the main problem: the points are distributed by tiers, and tier lists are often arbitrary and rarely static.
I mean, it’s pretty obvious that Kim/Big/Hotaru/Marco are at the top of NGBC and Kula/Gato/Oswald/Eiji are at the top of KOF XI but once you delve into around the mid-tier things get extremely fuzzy.
Is Cyber Woo worth .5pt or zero? Is Kaede 1.5 or 1? Questions like that have a significant impact on the game and can’t be easily resolved, since everyone will never agree 100% with any tier list.

That is very true…when it delves into mid tier is when things get fuzzy…but I guess the main goal is to label the people that run the game and not allow them…meaning if you wanna choose the others go for it…

Well, at least a points system, while confusing, is far less scrubby than “soft-banning”.
Especially since “soft-banning” doesn’t actually do anything other than frown on people who play the game the way it was designed and use top-tiers to win just like any tournament winner ought to.
If a points system would actually get people interested in KOFXI and NGBC in the US then I would be all for it. I would just want a LOT of thought and variety of opinions going into making the tier list.

HOW ABOUT THIS:
We all take a vote on NGBC tiers. Let’s take the first 30 or so votes from players who have ACTUALLY ENTERED AN NGBC TOURNAMENT IN THE LAST 12 MONTHS (let’s say…from Final Round X to the present).
Then each voter fills out a bracket:
(S-Tier: Worth 2 points)–5 characters
(A-Tier: Worth 1.5 pts)–7 characters
(B-Tier: Worth 1 pt)–15 characters
(C-Tier: Worth 0.5 pt)-- 7 characters
(D-Tier: Worth 0 pt)–5 characters
For each vote, characters given points based on their tier placing. After all voting, the point average of the character is determined and his/her tier placing is given based on the closest range.
For example, here’s what my vote would be:
(S) Big, Kim, Hotaru, Marco, Tung
(A) Robert, Kyo, Iori, Shiki, Haohmaru, Terry, Kaede
(B) Everyone else
© Akari, K’, Shermie, Kisarah, Geese, Asura, Nakoruru
(D) Ai, Chonrei, Chonshu, Genjuro, Yuuki
That’s what I am looking for too…I am just wondering do you all think I should as I say wait until SNK Season III to start the Official Low Tier NGBC Tournaments or should I do it at EVO World?

And yeah Leader Duo Lon is NOT 2.5…that is fucking ridiculous…

Soft-banning would not work in the US.
As for tiers, this would get the discussion going on the mid-tiers. We might find something out about one of them. I thought Shiki was a B originally, but now I can argue her being A.
This also would allow people to use Big, but just with Yuki or Nak. (That’s the D tier right?)
