The Next Fist of the North Star/Hokuto no Ken thread

Anyone notice that Level 7 is the REAL cut off for difficulty in this game? On DEADLY,the CPU has way more stamina and hits like a fuckin’ bus. It’s basically Eternal Champions '05 on DEADLY.

Is it going to be released free online or do I have to fork out some cash for this?

I wonder if multiple Daggard will be in there…

I just ordered this about 2 weeks ago and have not been able to put it down, I am very new to it but it is hands down one the best addictive fighters I have played in a long time.

It seems crazy deep right now, are people still playing this around the globe or has it died down a little bit ?

It has been around almost two years… but hokuto maniacs are still everywhere!

DemonDash, I don’t think they included your combo:( But on the bright side, that’s your Juda combo, no one can steal it from you now.

any word on a second game? I would def. like to see more characters this next time around if they do one.

Inc: Ryuuga, Shuu, Ryuuken, Kouryu, Maybe a couple of the fighter from the cassandra arc like the chick with the green hair. I’m not too sure about anyone from Hokuto no Ken 2 I haven’t seen that series yet and I’m sure I’m forgettiing some other decent fighters but yeah.

sory for the useless post X_X

been answered

What’s the button layout for this game? I finally got myself a copy of it. :o

After all of these years, people are still asking this question. First post on the first page. :expressionless:

Thanks. Don’t know why I didn’t bother checking. @_@

how do you guys find fresh information about this game?

i know about dustloop, and it has a nice wealth of information… but there are also many things missing (even about the basics of the game, ex. how does the stun system really work?)

is there no other good place to learn about the games unless someone knows japanese?

also, a few posts ago someone mentioned that now rei kills starting with just half a boost from anywhere… mind to give a few details? (or maybe i should just wait and see whether the dvd will give me the answer)

lastly, this is for pharaon (or any french player): do you know if there’s gonna be any HnK tourney in cannes in the next future? if so, do you plan on showing up?

thanks in advance

Anyone cares about Hokuto no Ken, hop on MSN now!!! Hokuto DVD is out, I am trying download it!!! my msn is tianyuan2k4@hotmail.com

Karkaroth, check my shin faq on dustloop, look at the index you will find what you need I think. Now I am busy downloading combo dvd and chat to taiwan and french peeps online, I will tell you more later.

Please post the vids Tianyuan, I can’t wait to see the new janky stuff .

a question for all you hnk junkies-
lets say SBX comes out, in gameplay its like a “hnk2” and it happens to be really good. what will you do?

  1. move on from hnk to sbx
  2. play both
  3. still stick with hnk only

tianyuan, of course your shin faq was the first thing i read about the game (and i found dustloop from there) and it was helpful to understand shin and the game in general.

but i feel like i’ve still a few questions left… like how the scaling works with stun, whether the throws reset the dizziness etc.
also, maybe some things are considered too obvious to be said? like the fact that star removing moves also shave blue life, i haven’t seen this mentioned anywhere in the net.

also, i’ve added your msn, i hope you don’t mind

throws don’t reset dizziness I believe. Any moves shave blue life at least a bit, although some specials, supers shave much more than others, such as Sekkaku or Hakuhazan.

We don’t know yet, but a HNK tournament in Cannes is highly unlikely as the game isn’t populer enough in France.

Last official tournament was held in May 2007, and only rankings are left for now (next one is on November 4th close to Paris). You can check http://www.hnk2d.fr/ for more infos.

too bad.

tian: sorry about yesterday, i was just in a hurry

i asked about throw- dizziness reset since that’s what it happens in ps2 practice mode. it’s easy to notice with shin (with the help of his useless feather projectile). i guess i just need to try in vs… anyway the rules for the “dizzy damage” scaling in combos are not easy to figure.
even a simple question like “why kill combos dont stun” could have many answers :stuck_out_tongue:

about blue life, i disagree with your answer… feel free to prove me wrong though

i don’t think every move removes at least a bit of it, just think about long combos. any wall hit, yes. or maybe you meant any special move?
anyway, for moves that shave blue life, i intended the ones that take out a large chunk of the previously existing bar.
those are all and only the moves that would take out a star, except that in this regard the limit to the number of star removing moves in the same combo doesn’t exist. (to make me clear: if kenshiro hits in the same combo with C+D, 236C, 236236A and 623A, the combo would remove 3 stars, but the last 623A would still “shave”).
the others limitations still apply (IE if shin connect 2 times with 214C in a combo, only the first will shave the blue life… the second one will just take out a pitiful amount, eactly like another special move of the same damage would).

last, i don’t think that some star removal moves “shave” more than others… i think they all take away the same percentage of the blue life present in the istant in which they remove the star.
i.e. with toki, sekkakko seems to take deplete the blue life more than his 236236C super just because hokuto ujou danjinken still does a considerable damage afterwards, leaving more new recoverable life.

At Evo, Mago would do a Kenshiro BnB combo and boost after an air hit and go into a bounce inf. I’ve never it in vids. Anyone know what i’m talking about?
