The newest Castlevania game... is a FIGHTING game!

Right! 3 games! You know your Castlevania!

LOL I’ve played every single game except for all of the non color ones from the Gameboy years and Castlevania Bloodlines on the Genesis, Konami port Bloodlines to something in my lifetime please…

Vampire Kira - :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

Looking forward to Death getting the Shinigami upgrade. He’ll wear black lipstick and will have a fondness for eating apples. :lovin:

“We can only talk about playing with Simon Belmont, Dracula, Alucard, and Maria, but out of those three everyone except Dracula could double jump…”

Jebus feck, can these people count? Or is their grammar that off? The English major in me churns and toils…

Aside from my total lack of respect for any game source, CVJ looks great. As a big CV fan, I have been asking for this for years (Darkstalkers + CV Characters = Win). And as a vehement hater of “3d” fighting games, at least this actually going to play 3D - fully articulated stages a la Power Stone.

All I want is the entire CV3 cast, Richter, and all the bosses from SCV4 to be added. This is gonna be a good year in FGs I think.

Cool beans, I guess? :wgrin:

Eh, I’ve mostly started to drop off with CV. Re-Rondo (PSP) was the last game that really excited me at all, though I’m willing to give OoE a fair shake as well (especially if it’s supposed to be more like CV2: Simon’s Quest, where you can wander the country-side).

As for Bloodlines? Yeah, I’d definitely be all up for that.

Come to think of it, they DID say that there were going to be more surprises in store for those who buy both OoE and CV:J, besides just unlocking characters. Maybe a free game as an unlockable for those who paid upwards of nearly a cool hundred for their CV fix?

I’ll gladly accept Bloodlines and MSX Vampire Killer! :wgrin:

NO.

I’d think that I’ve been fairly receptive a number of the designs thus far. The Jojo fan in me likes the eccentric detail that Obata put into these designs, even if some of the characters DO look too much like his old designs from Hikaru no Go and Death Note.

…But if I see Death being any thing beyond a stylish skeleton dude in a black robe, with a bad-ass scythe, heads WILL role. I can only take but so many changes.

I dunno…the way IGN made it sound, it was looking like (what I thought from a while back) that Simon was perhaps the ONLY Belmont in this game. IGN can be hacks, but I don’t think they would go forth to just state “Belmont” when they were referring to Simon, unless they had reason to.

But yeah, side characters and bosses would definitely be good. Grant, Sypha, Eric Lecarde, Maxim and Soma for more good guys, and dudes like Slogra+Gaibon (operate as a team!), Carmilla, Werewolf and Minotaur would be great starts for a roster for a first game, I would think.

Yep…2008 dun did it again. Now we’re even getting another Power Stone-like game through it!

EDIT: Y’all missed the IGA interview:

The character designs in this game are INSTAFAIL

Matter of tastes, in my opinion. I think they’re fine, and they basically just for this game (series?), so mainstream CV fans have nothing to worry about.

But on the whole, it seems that the Japanese fans do enjoy these designs much more than Westerners/Americans.

Me, I want Frankenstein (AKA Frankenstein’s Creature/Monster) and Medusa. Mummy, Werewolf (they could use the Werewolf character from the 64 games, but no one likes that series ha ha), Big Bat are optional lol! I can see if more of the classic monsters don’t make the game because they may not want to be another Darkstalkers, but of all of them I would really like to see Frankenstien and Medusa, in that order. Naturally assuming Death is in.

Medusa would be some what expected, if they were going to go more in the vein of the “classic bosses”, which would also include the Frankenstein monster and the Mummy (and Death, but he’s obvious, any way).

Giant Bat I really couldn’t see, unless he was NPC mid-boss of some sort.

But again, I’m really hoping that Slogra+Gaibon can make it. They, as well as Carmilla, the Werewolf and the Minotaur are among my fave bosses. If not this time, then well, there’s always the sequel… XD

We need a fucking GC/Classic Controller option! No way I’m shaking my controller like an idiot, trying to get moves to come out! I don’t see how some people can tolerate shaking controls for serious gameplay. It felt so imprecise in Twilight Princess; it’ll only be worse in a fighter. Unless they have the character attack in the pattern you swing the Wiimote. And I don’t mean snap to the closest preset pattern. I mean move the character’s arm how you move yours. Well, move the weapon how you move the Wiimote. And of course, physics to determine how the whips swing. But if it’s got preset attacks, then I’ll not buy this game unless it supports a non-waggle scheme. Hell, I’ll take a sideways Wiimote.

It’s my hope that after people perhaps get a chance to play-test at E3, maybe at least SOME individuals will put their words into the ring for a GC/CC controller options, if the dev team hasn’t already programmed them in (and just holding out, because they want to try and market the Waggle options for the sake of casuals).

I mean, if this game was going to be some thing more like say, Virtual ON, I would have been more receptive to Waggle. But not when it’s basically looking to be some where between Power Stone and Naruto GNT.

If it’s playable online I’m buying it.

Seriously when did Dracula ever look like a gay night/dark elf robot with cow udders that function as machine guns, Austin Powers style? Seriously Dracula should not fucking look like that.

For one, the “cow udders” don’t work like that. From what we know thus far, they’re just ornaments on his costume. That’s it.

Who’s to say what he “should” look like? And what “right” does any one have over another?

For instance, if I had it my way, Simon and all the other Belmonts/whip-users would still be manly, Conan-style Barbarians, and not the bishounen or trannies that Kojima has made 'em since SOTN (barring Julius Belmont). Can’t stand Kojima’s flowery artstyle (especially what she did to Simon), never have and never will.

This style is on the other hand, as I’ve said, growing on me. It does remind me of manga designs like from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: eccentric character designs with lots of insane detailing. That, I can dig, and in my opinion, it’s appropriate for a series of this sort.

But again, this all boils down to personal tastes. For me, at least, Obata’s style is probably the one art style I’ve liked for this series since Drac X Rondo’s early 90s anime-style. So, as far as, I’m concerned, it’s perfectly fine for a spin-off on the CV franchise, and it can stay exclusive to this spin-off.

Hey Dracula, the Centurions called. They want their exo-skeleton back.

Batman wants his Hydro Storm look back too.

Without question, this will suck major balls.

And I like Castlevania.

The random hate just makes it that much more interesting to me.

If it turns out that you can use a Gamecube or classic controller, can the OP edit the thread title plz?

any vids out yet?

So basically, another one who seems to dig it like IGN’s dudes, and one who doesn’t.

Same one who doesn’t seems to have no love for this style of game any way (and he even went on to indirectly TMNT Tourney Fighters on blast).

Any way, the bigger news if confirmation on more characters, which can be found in the 2nd article.

To cut to the chase…

Carmilla, from Rondo and CoTM (**** YEAH!)
Cornell, the werewolf guy from CV64:HoD (**** YEAH!!!)
Everyone from CV3, Trevor, Grant and Sypha, along with the confirmed Alucard (**** YEAH!!!)

As long as this game can deliver on being a nice Power Stone like game, I can see myself loving this.

Wow, like I said before I was not expecting him. Nice. :woot:

Wow, confirming the cast of CV3 alone is enough to make me purchase it now.
