I didn’t say it in the post above, but this game is actually fun. I am a Castlevania fan, one who got bored of Castleroid games a long time ago and I find this to be very refreshing. I have run into a lot of CV fans who literally won’t talk to me now that I admitted I enjoy this game. To me, that is disgusting - you haven’t even played the game yet and you judge it? CV needs change, and while this is only a side-step for it, I think CVJ is a great step forward in the right direction.
If you like Castlevania and have an open mind (aka don’t bitch about how everyone doesn’t look how they “should” and gameplay is different) this game is definitely for you. If you don’t like CV… I can see where a lot of the fanservice would be lost to a person unfamiliar with the franchise, but I still think it is a lot of fun. Not perfect, maybe it can’t be taken seriously… but fun.
Friday I don’t think I’ll be around to play. Here’s my Wii info though. Haven’t played a lot of Smash so I really haven’t added friends or anything, most of the time I’ve been on Wii it’s been to play either Super Castlevania or Mega Man 9 lol! Well, add me I guess, and yeah I have to get around to adding Wii-heads from that Wii friend code thread here…

O.o; errrrr…I’m not entirely sure the point of this post after the last sentence lol.
You have to take into account that a lot of people were iffy about this title…Castlevania? fighting game? It’ll probably take awhile as people may start to realize that the game is actually pretty fun. Not to mention the fact that I’m sure there are people who’d rather unlock all the characters first before attempting to jump online…it ain’t like xbl where you can see what everyone on your list is doing at one time.
I’m watching Rioting Soul and Warna Brotha play this game currently…I haven’t touched it at all yet but this game looks like made fun though lol. Rioting soul is rushing down with Golem and command grabbing all over the place lol. Golem can do the dash move to get in on people and then immediately do the grab afterwards…blocked or not.
And he can roll around the stage quite fast at the cost of using some of his meter…don’t take golem for granted!
Just saying if I could play it with a good fighting stick, it’d be worth something.

Played the game for a few hours today, and even though it has a ton of issues, it’s still pretty fun if you’re a fan. It definitely feels like a rushed project though, both the graphics and gameplay aren’t very polished. The game itself actually has a lot of okay ideas that resemble a fighting game, but they aren’t implemented very precisely. On a base level, the biggest annoyance is that it’s really hard for some characters to catch up to fast runaway characters. For instance, Eric Lecarde has seemingly no means of getting in against Shanoa, who has a lot of good long range tools. At the same time though, smaller projectiles have a difficult time tracking opponents, and the evasion moves recover so fast that they’re difficult to punish them even when they’re expected. Regardless, the game has its charm, or maybe I’m just a Castlevania *** (I am).
Carmilla is pretty fun at the moment, she has a lot of long, wacky variations of what is essentially the same combo. For example:

B, B, B, jump cancel into B, B, B, A + B, Merciless Dance, jump cancel into B, B, A + B, Merciless Dance

If you have the Stopwatch, which might be her best sub weapon since it allows her to land her super, you can cancel into a time freeze after the Bloody Heel segment of the combo to land a free super (B, B, B, jump cancel into B, B, B, A + B, Merciless Dance, jump cancel into B, B, A + B, Stopwatch, then Maiden’s Teast). Time stop combos deal about 85% damage.

yeah banning super talk is stupid. yeah they do a ton of damage, but they are blockable and you can hit them during startup(at least the ones I’ve seen so far) I’m enjoying the game and the characters are little more varied than I thought they were going to be(different object actions, grant’s aerial dodge, different stances etc) I think the game could be a good casual fighter. damn I still have to unlock everyone. I’m sick of the castletroid games too which is why bought haunted castle for the ps2. ahh the good ol days.
Who and where? This is rediculous. They are no worse than ST. And I just know that super is going to end up being a necessity in some match ups.
Having a bunch of fun shoulder rushing into grab with Golem. ME, ANGRY. YOU, AFRAID. His roll is a deal breaker.

GGs to Katha, I won both matches against Carmilla with Simon and Shanoa who I have unlocked via the DS / Order hook up. BTW I use the name SIMON for this game like I have for every single Castlevania game since Simon’s Quest. Online is fun, LOL at being able to turn on Stage Hazzards. Get’em zombies! :lovin:
Still took a while to find those matches and that was in unranked mode. Setting the game to find matches worldwide helps. I’ll be back online Saturday in the afternoon repping House Belmont. Sniff, sniff, this game is beautiful maaaaang! Maybe not the best fighter, but at least it’s a GOOD 3D Castlevania game. :tup:
