It’s all good mayne. They didn’t even have the AE 2012 edition. Those guys started the Street Fighter tourney at 10AM while most people were still standing in line outside. That and they used regular Super Street Fighter IV, lol!
A couple of guys came in with a KOF setup later on. I wasn’t too surprised when they told us they were from Memphis.
There is a strong MTG scene here and the people I left behind, when I quit and sold out my collection, are wanting me back. I mean I can go 25 mins in either direction and play in drafts and standard tourneys. I hate the fact that I the only person in my area that plays fighting games and it is counter productive to never play in real life and then drive 3 hours to be bodied to have to leave right after I am out to get home the same day. If the Knoxville crew had a more stable schedule and played games I wanted to play I would feel a lot better about playing. Like I said this is just a temporary hiatus that is me checking back out the MTG community and making sure the metagame is what I want to jump back in. I was spoiled when i played with a diverse metagame and have never been able to go back because of the three to two deck meta. I was looking at standard the past two days and it looks like I am out 2 to 3 hundred for my 60 card deck and 15 card sideboard to compete again. That is another reason I am saying hiatus because I am not sure I want to spend that kind of money right out to compete. I had a solid collection before I quit last time and really need to take time to deliberate if this is worth the move to play again.

So Martin sent me a message on xbl telling me to check out one of his replays on ssfiv:ae… He beat Latif. I’ll try to get a video of it at some point, he said it’s been overwritten on the replay list but he has it saved to his hd.

Well, I only was messing with for 10 minutes and specials were easier on this than anything I have ever used before.
General movement and footsies were not hard at all. In fact I would say the quick to block thing with the buttons is pretty ridiculous. The only thing hard to learn is correct jumping methods but that might be a good thing; the game is teaching you NOT to jump but it seems to be one weakness using this would be if you are getting attacked and are required to do “more” to jump away or jump up/towards but I haven’t had that much difficulty using it at all.
I do know this, if you have NEVER played fighting games before, this is the peripheral for you because it’s much easier to just piano things, almost ridiculously simple. Add that to footsie games and this can be very very dangerous but Brandon and I have barely messed with it yet.
Personally I have seen nothing that can’t be done on a controller/pad so far, but the “ease” of use is pro-pad like for moves regardless of what anyone says. If you assign a macro to 1-2 buttons and all you have to do is piano here and it’s a split second, it’s essentially the same thing; it really is EASIER than I thought it was; learning curve is really limited to combos and jumping up towards and up back…
So far only MK and SF4 but I’ll be messing with it all week…
I think for Tekken considering there is no need for jumping, the hitbox would work insanely well for that game, more so than MK9…how many moves require you to press “Up” in Tekken? I know you can jump in that game, but why would you?
