Hitbox: The only argument I see so far from actual evidence is being able to jump while holding down … to me, that is broke. If they programmed it to where Left + Right = Neutral, then they need to do the same thing to any combination of directional buttons that includes Down + Up.
Also, so basically you can plink a DP? … (F, D+F+HP plinked)

Not sure, I’ll test it out when I get home.
5 man Team Middle TN KOF will be assembled at one of the Fight Nights
same goes with 5 man Middle TN AE…so if you can’t make it on a Tuesday, plan on coming in the evening one of those days, we’ll post dates soon…we may do AE and KOF on both days or split up the days…
Keep in mind this is for players that are PLANNING ON BEING IN MEMPHIS JUNE 2nd for the Memphis TOURNAMENT.
If you don’t plan on going, but want to compete anyway, that is fine as well, we will select 2 alternates for each team in case of anything. I will also be an alternate on both teams in case the original alternates and original winners are not able to attend. i.e. Jason is your last case scenario if people can’t show since I will be in Memphis anyway.
Per Hitbox, the guys in charge clearly stated these things have advantages but like with anything you have to learn to use them but they offer CLEAR advantages for players that are not able to use stick/pad. I would even go as far as saying in Tekken since you can just press down to block and inputting that on a stick is slower than a button, these things might be pretty nuts for BDB and blocking games…will definitely check them out with Tekken when it arrives.
recapping on tournaments:
March 31 Saturday at Hickory Hollow Mall-milln’s KOF/UMVC3/SC5 Astaroth wins for free tournament
April 28-Saturday at Hickory Hollow Mall-Game Galaxy TN Dolls tournament madness (AE, KOF, UMVC3, SC5, SFXT)
June 2-Saturday in Memphis- BAWSE Jas’s Mega Memphis BEatdowns (a lot of games)
June 24-26 Fri/Sat/Sun in Hickory Hollow Mall-EVO MWC XIX (all the EVO games, XBOX 360 on everything except for MK and whatever Milln runs)
The problem is “games” are not made for this, the controllers are made for the games specifically for alleviating move difficulties. Things like this are precisely why MK2/3 have such weird shit going on and MK9 has changes in the tier list based on an accessory almost.
I don’t see the difference between pressing-holding one button to press one more button, and pressing another button to get a DP on this as opposed to a macro (pro pad) pressing one button either. You are simplifying the input, simple as that. If a controller exists to simplify it is exactly the same thing you are talking about, “ease” of use regardless of if one thing is being done like the other.
Obviously finger speed is faster than wrist speed but because of that you see VERY unnatural things in games that come about from using new devices.
It’s still too early to tell but if XXX player has an advantage with a hitbox I want to be able to do it too, so I’ll just create a stick that looks like that and macro it up…I don’t see what the difference would be assigning stuff to buttons when it’s very very close right now with just a simple piano touch…
I’m very eager to see what this is like but from the looks of things it definitely is very advantageous to use these but think about this for a second, there are regulatory parts/equipment used in every single sport. You can get an advantage by having a bat that is corked. Makes it easier to get home runs? It wasn’t banned before right? Suddenly people realized it should be banned. I am sure there are lots of examples like this because the tournament scene is not “governed” but there has to be a standard of equipment and Hitbox is soooooooooooooo new and just like with Golf Clubs (yes, freaking Golf Clubs) there are certain stipulations that are understood and advantages that are not allowed based on the governing body’s allowance with these matters.
Keep in mind just because EVO allows this does not mean it is the right decision, they are notorious for selecting the incorrect games and systems and if you have an “advantage” with a better system, why not use it, right? Well, 360 is better for fighting games than PS3, yet we use it. XBOX was better for fighting games than PS2 (sans a few) yet we used PS2. Heck, arcade was better for a lot of stuff, yet we used console/PS2/Dreamcast because it was easier…there’s a lot of things that don’t entirely make sense with this but you need proper time to evaluate these and I just don’t think anyone really knows everything these can do just yet…that’s precisely why I wanted to avoid one of the Moe vs REO UMK3 finals where Kabal was doing instant air fireballs in UMK3 1/2 inch off the ground which is IMPOSSIBLE on a stick, wasn’t even meant to be in the game as such by the developers but obviously using different equipment this can be done…I always think of these types of instances (and REO was not using a hitbox but it wasn’t a stick on Arcade) when I think of “rules” for tournaments…
Can’t wait to get this in the mail…
Hiryu, I think Cody would shake his head for ages about the EWGF, he had to do a LOT Of training to get that on cue…lol
We still on the hitbox topic?
It’s ongoing, people are trying out new things, it is going to come up again and again.
It was really easy for me if you map focus attack to LB. Xbox dpad was GREAT. Too bad there wasn’t any lagless converters for it.
And yet i can do one the first time i have the hitbox in my hands… Lmao. Dead horse. Just dont be surprised when you test one
I assume that hitboxes give an advantage in SC5 too. Fastest input just frames seem like they’d become incredibly easy. Piano qcf/qcb and press the attack = just input every time.
Seth is #1 heuehuehu.
GG to Abe and Sev in tekken. Like I said last night, that’s the one fighter that’ll I’ll keep going back to and when TTT2U drops, so does all the other fighters, lol. Sev learn Julia, man. With your skill, you’ll make people rage quit in person.
@Maxninja
I play Asuka, she so fun to me but with your skill I figure you play a Mishima or Lee. If you want some tips though I’ll help you out.
You guys post too much for me. A few days ago on Tapatalk, I saw the page count was 20, then the next day it was 38 than yesterday 48 and now a new thread…slowdown, lol.
And late shoutout to Lil Majin and ShinBlade doing y’all thing at MLG. Take that shit the next time and y’all should try to go to EVO you have a legit shot at taking it.
But perhaps the fact that these games are designed to be played on controllers that can’t hit more than one direction at a time is reason enough to not allow them?
@ Maxninja: Derek is the resident Asuka player. And I can use her decently. Not the best punishment or pokes, but she’s a good character. I figured you might use Anna though. She has some stuff similar to Tira imo.
@ Derek: That dry bitch ain’t fun. But she’s solid as fuck. I like how people finally respect her now lol. You said he should play Mishimas and Lee? Wtf? I gotta see him play now. Y’all talking like he might have that true blood in his veins…
Lmao at hitbox drama. Maybe they’ll release a GEM that auto does neutral on stick. For $4.99 a month.
I hope one day a drug in pill form is released that slows down one’s perception of time (not weed) for superhuman play and that tournaments will have drug testing for tournament players so we can have Major League Baseball types of fiasco like steroids for gamers.
But for now, ban energy drinks!
@ derek:
Just curious what do you say my skill level is? And How would that fit with heihachi/Kazuya and Lee? And any help will be very appreciated.
@Mike
Really? Hmmm, I have to check Anna out if she’s anything like Tira. And i’ve only had this game less then a day i dont think you want to see me play. >_> But I am getting down wall combos, juggles and Bound moves and understanding how it all fits together. Asuka can do some mean damage
@ Woot: Nah ban all that shit they try to feed you at MLGs and other events that have you feeling like a sluggish gross fuck. I can’t bring bottled water inside the venue, but I’m expected to drink Dr. Pepper and NOS for 3 days? And hot pocket thingies. This is gamer genocide.
@ Maxninja: It’s just some stuff I noticed that made me compare Tira to her. Next time I see you around I can show you some stuff with both of them. Both are pretty easy characters to get into, just different core approaches to each. Like Asuka is more defensive, yet Anna has counter stuff but better punishment and poking. Both can be played in diff styles though.
Simultaneous opposite inputs result in neutral per the boards that are in the official ones (Toodles PS3 Cthulhus). For 360 dual mod, you must have a SOCD cleaner to force it to not report both opposite directions.
Also, UF, DF, DB, and UB say hi.
Got some things to address it seems…
1ST OFF. GOOD SHIT too Kinetik in KOF yesterday at Fight Night.
@Kinetik - Your Mature is really solid and your best character. You should place her last on your team with Athena 2nd and whoever 1st. A really good strategy when team building is to always place whoever you’re learning 1st. This way, you get experience with that character and if you lose with them then your weakest link is already eliminated instead placing them last just to die with a bunch of meter on deck. Keep training dude. You’re definitely improving.
@Sev - We shall play next time. Hate we didn’t yesterday.
2ND OFF. FUCK ANYONE that doesn’t think Sev and myself deserve spots on the 5v5 KOF team OFF TOP! Both of us have proven on more than one occasion that we are 2 of the strongest players here WITHOUT QUESTION. All non-believers can GTFO. No disrespect but peeps already know where they stand.
