The New TN Thread: The Flymike Haters Ball Presented by The Button!

I want to play people late tonight on xbl, hit me up

SlowJamzMixtape

I’ll post up that info, punishment, tags, and stuff I use when I get off work here in the next hour or so. I’ve hit a good stride with her in this one and she’s better overall too, which helps lol. Marcus plays Nina so maybe he can help you out with that but I don’t even think his brain farts will let him know the notations of her moves or frames. But he’s a beast with her.

Really, the online is pretty amazing. I’ve had zero lag, no trouble teching, when I can catch it. Lol.
Bryan and Hworang are very legit.

I need a second character. Having fun with Dragunov though. I want a better launcher/launch combo with him. For now its df 2. His qcf2 launches also, but qcf just feels wonky in this to me.

I’ll play

So is there any difference between lee and violet?

So is practically any character from all tekkens in the game?

Only character I can think of that isn’t here is Gon.

FlymIke: Ya, let me know when you have a chance, and ask Marcus for some Nina stuff for me…I am lost, lol

I hope his name is pronounced “gone” for delicious irony.

FlyMike: keep in mind I know how to use her but I know know any punishes; etc. I mainly need low to mid combos that juggle start either start high, mid, or low and good basic combos with Nina that are easy and make sense…

Finally in. One of the worst days I’ve ever had with this company. 13hours of storm damage, poles, attics, and crawl spaces. Never did this much grunt work before ever. Nothing technical, all manual. Pissed and tired as fuck. Only doing this because it’s you. (And if you’re a happy Old Man Wilson and play game, others will too.) Anyway, typed some of it at work. Will post rest up here in a sec…

You had such a tough day at work you only managed to type up ONE tekken essay???

Guys, I need an ad slide or flyer for King of the Bling created. Free entry into ANY of the tournaments you want at King of the Bling if you can do this…hit me up or post up

@ Jason: You’ve been liking a hell of a character. Good and bad reasons. Off jump, she’s a largely unsafe character and you have to really manage your transitions. Whereas other stance characters may have crushing properties or can defend while in stance, Zaf cannot block in any of them. Her stances are mainly for evasive purposes, mixups, and gimmicks. You can look at it like, if you’re not evading, attacking, or mixing up while in stances, you’re going to get smashed out of it. This doesn’t mean that you attack as soon as you go into stances. If you have conditioned people or mindfucked them, you can wait it out a split second or bait something that Zaf can evade while in that particular stance. So, against some people, might not have to use stances at all. Just straight punish them and end it. Also, she is not a “toe
for toe” character. She will not win in trying to out-bulldog someone. But she’s great for feeling out a type of player which is the only way that you should approach your style of play that match with her anyway. In a way, you might feel at home with her with your style of play in 2D games. She benefits largely from spacing, footsies, and pokes. You do this to see what type of person you’re against and also to work your way into mixing up and creating an offense. Worst thing you can do with her is be inside against certain characters and not have a plan and they go on the offensive. Also, she doesn’t have the best TA filler or enders. People who use her are either committed, or trying to gimmick. So you have to build your individual game. But she has excellent movement(ss and backdash) which lets her do her thing. Gonna post a few stuff, not every move and nothing highly technical, just a good grasp of stuff so you can build a decent foundation and inquire other shit later.

Punishment

.10f: 1,2; 1,3(hold b to cancel out of SCR); 1,4(automatically goes into TRT)
.13f: d/f+1,2; d/f+1,4(slightly more dmg but linear if stepped whereas d/f+1,2 catches steppers to the left plus goes into her NEW extension. So full string is d/f+1,2,1. Last hit is slightly delayable. Decent pushback on hit. Knockback stun animation on CH. Can catch with a deep dash 1+2 in some situations or near wall.)
14f: d/f+3,4 (Outside of punishment i only use this move really for TA filler near close wall. But last hit on CH gives you a combo. First hit is df+3 so not much range for those 14f+ punishes that causes pushback)
16f: d/f+2 (your main launcher. At 16f its not a generic df2(15f) but its magical because it has great range and magically goes under shit. Also picks up off ground so great for rollers and quickstanders.
17f: u/f+4 (Ugh. At fucking 17f its not generic 15f hopkick. I only really use this move to crush slower shit or to launch
lows and get up kicks.)

While Standing punishment
11f: ws+4 (Simple. if it’s not a safe low, subconcious kicks in that you punish with this unless you get a launcher. Standard of 95% of all characters. Make this muscle memory.)
15f: ws+1,2 (One of my fave moves. Launches on regular hit now. Taggable. Hitconfirmable but i usually commit to it. Dunno how punishable ws+1 is on its own, but ive been punished for it in T6.)
17f: u/f+4 (Only in this section because you can come up off the ground with hopkicks.)
18f: ws+2 (big launcher. Taggable. If you press down on hit or block you backroll across the screen into MNT stance.)

Tracking moves
f,f+4 (I heavily use this. Mid. I space and let it rip.)
f,f+2 (Big damage. High. Not much range so you gotta be inside. Plus frames on block. I use this for TA filler in certain combos because of dmg and the arc opponents fly.)
d/f+1+2 (Launcher. A bit slow, but is a lower mid that crushes tons of shit. Good move.)

Safe moves
1+2, 4 (the 1+2 is safe. The 1+2,4 is safe. 1+2,4,4 is not. But on CH, 1+2,4 becomes a safe launcher. Use this move.)
SCR+1+2 (God move. Plus frames on block. Strongest b! option. Launcher itself on CH)
F+4 (linear high. Knocks down)
2,2, 1+2 (h, m, mm. Only the first hit is guaranteed, even on CH. But string is delayable. Last hits spike down.)
F+3 (“Sweet Chin Music”. High. Only safe if you hold back to cancel SCR. On hit if you don’t cancel SCR, you can just hold forward then hit 3+4 to b! for weaker combo. Otherwise you immediately cancel out to deep dash with d/f+1 pick up. Her strongest launcher that isn’t CH.)
MNT+d+3,1
TRT+2 ( launcher. Taggable. High crushes.)
TRT+3 (knockdown on reg hit)
U/f+3 (Mid. Splats on wall.)

Scarecrow stance (SCR) 3+4
Straight forward stance. Most vulnerable imo but best pure pressure stance.
Key neutral stance moves that enter: 3; 1,3; 1,2,3; df+3, f+3, f+2,3
SCR+1 (pokey)
SCR+2,2 (NC. 2nd hit puts in crouch animation, on CH knocksdown. But first hit on CH allows the 2nd hit to b! and you get a combo.)
SCR+1+2( explained in tracking section.SCR+3,3 (NC. mid. Keeps your pressure.)
SCR f+3,3 (NC. Mid. Knocks away or splats on wall.)
SCR+d+3,3 (only first hit is guaranteed.)
SCR+3+4 (usual b! for most combos. Outside of that, it knockdowns on reg hit and has most range of any SCR move.)
SCR+4 (huge quick mid launcher. Taggable.)
SCR+3 (Sweep of doom. Launcher low. Crushes highs. Use this with SCR +4 for psuedo 50/50s though better players can react to this.)
SCR+d+3+4 (roll away into MNT) SCR+d+4 (Nice low that knocks down and leaves opponent in face down, head towards position.)
SCR+3,3,4 (m,m,l. Low allows you to cancel to MNT. If low hit and you went into MNT then you get lil combo)

Tarantula (TRT) d+1+2
Most evasive stance. High and mid crushing. But only allows you to move forward.
Key neutral stance moves that enter TRT:.** NEW** u/f+1+2; 1,4; d+3, 4~d, while running+4~down (MATRIX SLIDE)
TRT+1 (your main poking low. On hit allows you to maintain annoyance. Knocksdown on CH.)
TRT+2 (big launcher. Mid. Taggable. High crushes.)
TRT+3 (quick safe mid. Knocks down on reg hit. Mad oki. your true mixup in this stance rests on this move in conjunction with TRT+1)
TRT+4,3 (Eh, this move will get you in trouble unless against scrubs. But is natural combo and launches on CH)
TRT+1+2 (your farthest advancing move in TRT. Pounce. Knockdown on reg hit. B! animation in combo or airborne opponent. High crushes in begining, low crushes towards end.)
TRT+d+3+4 (knockdown low that goes into MNT)

Mantis (MNT) d+3+4
Best of both worlds. You can do the most shit with this stance.
Key neutral moves that enter MNT stance: ** NEW** d+3~down; fullcrouch d/f+3~d, 2+4 throw; 2,1,3; 2,1,3~d(without low);d/b+1+2; d+2, 4; d/b+4~d; f,f+3+4~d; ws+2~d
MNT+1 (quick mid. Leaves MNT)
MNT+2,1,4(only first hit is guaranteed except on CH all are. Knockbacks, splats.)
MNT+3 (small launch on CH. MNT 3,4,4 is low, mid, overhead mid string. MNT 3,4,d+4 is low, mid, low string.)
MNT 4,3 (CH launcher or just the 3 by itself launches. Very high. Use 1 to leave MNT and get the combo)
MNT d/f+3 (awkward mid launcher. Taggable.)
MNT d/f+3 (mid handstand. Shit is crazy plus frames on hit. Knocksback/splats on CH.)
MNT+d+4 (SLIDE. Knocks down on CH. Leaves them in face down feet away.)
MNT u/f+3 (overhead mid. Hits grounded and crushes lows)
MNT d+3,1 (safe. this is your starter after neutral d/b1+2. On CH allows the small combo for MNT d+1, 4 followup.)
MNT 2+3 (turns you around. You’re probably asking why would you want to be BT in MNT stance. Answer is simple. By pressing forward while BT in MNT, you run away quickly. By pressing back, you advance, BT. Not smart, nothing she can do advancing BT in MNT. Controls are awkward here but get used to it. Also you can just d+4 while in BT MNT and slide away. This was one of my taunts in T6 lol.)

Damn, that’s it. Didnt list all moves or any combos and setups. Too tired. If you have any other questions about her ask later, but that’s last time I do this type of massive post. Dont see how guys write faqs, holy shit. Also if you have general questions on Nina, i used to use her a tiny bit. And I’ve fought her enough to know stuff. So if you cant get Marcus and its something else you need then i can probably help. I don’t check here often anymore because I’m tempted to answer
EVERY question or comment about TTT2 and that’s way too time consuming lol. Anyway, have fun.

Man, I had stints were I had to wait on shit. Like equipment, rate issues, and such. Instead of sitting in a customers home looking at them looking at me, I just notepaded some of the above stuff in my phone. Never again though lol.

Later guys. Keep playing.

Alright, so here’s how I see it. And this is coming from a guy who loves fighting games (that doesn’t prevent me from getting salty about a complete lack of progression in skill) and potentially wants to open up a business directly related to fighting games sometime within the next 5 to 6 years. There are a lot more people getting into video games competitively every day. But what do they see when they get bombarded by sheer numbers when they decide to make that leap: League of Legends, Starcraft, Halo, Call of Duty, etc. We’ve got a thriving community right here already that can make these games accessible to people who don’t know otherwise. I’ve actually made an attempt to show my friends the fighting games I play, why I play them, and basic strategies to keep in mind while making your way through a fighting game. They all came away not necessarily with drive, but at least an interest in what it feels like to play these games. I think it’s to the point where the scene won’t get bigger and better until we bring in new blood (I’m a weird exception because I sought out fighting games randomly about 8 months ago). Why should people have to settle for subpar games like Halo (camp) or CoD (CAMP!!!) when the outcome is decided by you and only you with fighting games? Is there any way that we could set up an event that could reach out to more than we do now? SRK is great but only the people already playing FG’s are watching these forums. So what about getting some space at a local campus, bringing set ups and local veterans like Josh, Pat, Chris, and Milln and raise awareness for Game Galaxy? After all, when Game Galaxy prospers, we all prosper. Every friend I’ve ever told about Game Galaxy has never heard of it and thought arcades were dead except for in big cities and the ones who have made it out, loved it. This is kind of a long shot, but I’d be willing to do a lot to make it happen. And it doesn’t have to be this exact thing, but I feel like something of this nature would be needed to give the place a jumpstart. Somebody brainstorm with me, we’ll talk with Jason, and maybe we can convince a few people to use their leisure time beefing up their FADC combos, rather than grinding on CoD online with all the 12 year olds and frat guys.

You won’t pull FPS people away from their crapfest completely. It’s rare someone makes a transition 100%, maybe they tinker with fighters but today’s FPS crew is really set on that one genre. A good step forward is joining the TN group on Facebook and directing people there through word of mouth and sharing on FB, then once some word gets out (between the website/srk/FB/etc) I can help build the hype for sure (also, trust me, there are more local veterans than you think  ) and get this scene back off the ground. It’s not what it used to be. I really hope to change that somehow, altogether. It can and will happen.

Also, if anybody quits playing TTT2, you get slapped by Eugene.

Sorry I haven’t been around for a while, I’ve been busy with school and moving this past weekend. TTT2 matches will be played soon. Just hit me up for some games

Mike that guide was better than 90% of TZ characters forums seriously minus the Lars forum finding the info you want is a huge pain the ass on TZ everything is so disorganized and all over the place for the most part

Mike, thank you sooooo much…I definitely needed something to explain what the heck I was doing which was booty progressive Tekken scrub madness; but seriously, Josh hit it spot on, TZ is not easy to navigate and the community is not welcoming to new players.

The thing is REGARDLESS of game, as much as people talk about SRK they have guides and ideas to transition you as a player into different games, KOF, MK, etc…Tekken has never had anyone willing to do that and I am 100% certain because of the fact that there is just so much in the game it’s hard for anyone to really give a good analysis of a character as a start up guide for beginners but Mike, that was exactly what I have wanted…Cody gave me a good list of stuff for King so I have some stuff from him as well but at the very least both of you guys explained the stuff in a way that makes sense to me

In the evenings after baby action I’ll be in training mode getting a feel for some more Zafina stuff; I have got to get a good combo with Nina that I can REMEMBER. I saw Ian doing this one where he did SS1 in the combo but as many times as he has told me I can not remember it for the life of me.
