But I actually got to play it today. I can’t believe I’m saying it but the game is fun. Plan to pick up my copy tomorrow. Before I knew Lars was in my team was going to be Law and Bison, but that may all be changing very soon.
I must admit I am in “maximum vibe out mode” right now and didn’t completely read all the DLC posts but I will say this - it can eat a dick. It, and subsequently microtransactions are the worst things to come out of this generation of gaming.
Of course it’s a business, no one here is arguing against that. I’m not stupid enough to think a company won’t want to make money.
However, as a CUSTOMER, I have the right to complain about being shafted when it comes to my purchases. I have the right to complain that Capcom consistently tries to underhandedly force feed us DLC bullshit and act like it’s some big thing that they never had planned on holding out on us for.
My MAIN complaint here is that 360 owners get fucked. Period. Same with any PS3 user who wants the 12 Vita characters. I give no shit as to how complete or not the DLC is on the disc. The point is that a LARGELY playable character us on the disc. Are you a game developer yourself? Unless your answer is yes, you don’t know how the hell it works either, so don’t pretend you do. You don’t have to be a game developer to realize that enough work has been done on several of the cast that it’s basically a close to finished product. The Vita ones obviously ARE finished, so the characters were DONE. All that’s left is some PS3/360 specific shit obviously, which Capcom could have spent more time on finishing, rather than releasing an incomplete product and asking us to pay later for what they “wrapped up.”
However, the more realistic scenario here is that they purposefully locked the characters (same way they do with costumes, etc. UMvC3 anyone?) as a marketing ploy, and gradually “feed” us the characters/costumes one pack at a time to keep people hooked. It’s an underhanded marketing ploy and it’s a nasty way to do business. It would be like you go to the movies, buy your ticket, and they cut shit out of your movie until after you’ve watched the majority of it, then ask you to pay to see what you missed in a separate room. It’s just stupid.
Insert TO nightmare argument here (I don’t think anyone disagrees on this point, so I’m not gonna put my 2 cents in unless you guys really want it)
People who want to play some of their favorite characters don’t get to because Capcom wants more money for their stupid game. Hell I’d be less frustrated if the characters were day 1 DLC, as long as you could have access to all of them. It’s just stupid to make people wait for shit that they shouldn’t have to. And then if they ask us to pay for all of those characters, that’s just adding insult to injury.
The fact of the matter here is that people had to HACK the content out of the disc. It wasn’t MEANT to be known. And most of the youtube vids showing the content have been taken down due to copyright infringement under Capcom. What does that tell you? How many pre-release SFxT videos are up showing the default cast? How many of those got taken down? Capcom doesn’t give a shit unless you’re exploiting their stupid scheme.
Of course I openly admit I could be wrong about how complete the content is on the disc, and how it all works in general. But it’s almost irrelevant, Capcom has a shady business strat, and as a consumer, I’m not happy with it.
I just went and bought SFXT for Josh on the condition he would give up WoW for awhile. That game and shitty internet has already been the demise of his SF career. Nope I am not above bribery in my house at all.
Got my SFxT copy. I have to use a completely different xbox controller for cross SFxT since if you use the joystick the game has delay inputs or dosent respond to a forward jump and makes ur fighter jump straight up (just ask woot). Thankfully i have my Arkham city controller which has a great D-pad. Well time to stay up all night figuring things out. Im so hype
You too? Glad im not the only one having sound problems. And online’s not really that fun right now. People are just getting used to this game and they have no clue how to handle a poison/Juri team so i end up destroying them. And of course the first match i play was against Ken and Ryu. But Im having fun with this game. Just need to start learning a tekken character
Ugh. Guys I don’t know how to get better at SF4. I suck total ass at the game and I just can’t get myself to get better at it. I know several things I’m doing wrong, I just can’t get in the mindset to fix them. I keep getting frustrated during matches and falling back on shit that just flat out doesn’t work. Feels scrubby as hell. Just went 2 - 25 against a friend in his favor. It’s like everything I try in this game just bites me in the ass and I feel like I’m at a plateau on skill level that I can’t figure out how to fix. -_-
I basically stopped playing fighting games (almost all games, actually) because I work days on my web dev company and work nights busting my ass into the game dev industry. I have a video blog on my game dev progress if you are interested at all http://battlestream.net . The blog doesn’t exactly communicate the decades of experience with game development fundamentals that I have. But, I’m using professional tools (expensive) and am studying best-practices using those tools and when implementing networking so that my systems don’t suck and piss people the fuck off. So, I’m a bit slowed down. Come my second game I’ll be significantly faster.
Anyway, after hearing the news about Boom Cube beating Valle I basically have become motivated to start playing again. I’m going to a get together on the 25th for KoF and I’ll probably be picking up SFxT to check it out.
That FSM program is pretty cool! Can you create your own scripts in raw C# save them off/use them as events or are you stuck with comforming to the interface they have if you want to do stuff like switch statements? Seems like you could do some cool stuff by writing your own lambda expressions and using some more of C#'s depth.
I got trolled at the gamestop I went to with like 15 other people (Marcus and Johnny included) … Have us sign up / pre-order … midnight rolls around - ‘nah we aren’t doing it’ … wow thanks jackasses …
