Hey everyone, just wanted to say what’s up.
First off, CONGRATS to all the TN players who went and repped at Final Round! You make us all proud.
Second, I wanted to apologize to everyone for me not being at the T&G tournament. I had some major stuff come up unexpectedly right before the tourney date, and there was no way I could resolve it in time and make the tourney. Major props to GeekTwist and T&G for picking up the baton and running the event at such short notice.I hope everyone had a good time, and I’m very sorry that this had occurred.
Third, thanks also to everyone who checked in on me and asked if I was ok. You guys know who you are. I really appreciated the gesture. Everything has been handled, and I’m in the process of just trying to catch up on everything.
Fourth: DLC. I think the issue that a lot of people are upset about isn’t even the DLC, nor the delivery method, but rather the FALSE STATEMENTS that Capcom made about the DLC characters. “Oh Blanka’s is not done yet, Ono is having trouble integrating him into the system”. Then you see Blanka complete in the game, moves, animations, everything. So yeah, I can see folks getting really mad about that.Capcom should have been transparent about it from the beginning. If everyone knew what the “deal” was with the DLC characters from the beginning, the existence of them complete on the disc wouldn’t be so scandalous. This is a PR debacle. Capcom was not operating in good faith with its customers.
In addition, this begs the question of ownership? if you PAY for the disc, what part of it do you own? There are 38 “default characters” at release, not including Toro/Kuro/Pacman etc. Then you have another 12 that are ON the disc, but you don’t have access until you PAY. In essence, you have to pay extra for 24% of the game! So your initial purchase only bought you a game that is 74% complete! I mean, for TO’s this is going to be insane. Any tourney run with SFxT is going to require all the DLC characters, once they have been released. (and that doesn’t even touch the subject of WHEN they will be released).
I mean it seems simple to me, if I purchase a disc, everything on the disc should be included in the price. Here’s a lame analogy. You buy a car. There is a metal cap bolted over the drink holder. You ask and the dealership says they are still working on the drink holder, but that it will be ready for use in three months, for an additional $40. You wait three months (yeah right), return to the dealership, and say is it ready now? They say yes, take your $40, go to your car, pull out a key, and unlock the cap and remove it from the drink holder. It appears that the drink holder has been ready for use this whole time! Car dealership says thanks, and walks away with your money.
Yeah…
