What’s funny is that you first say that I’m not giving people an opportunity for an opinion. Which, slight offense, is stupid because if you didn’t notice my points are reactionary responses to phenoma that are obviously occurring here as were as other places. But, then you go on to expound the exact kind of ignorant speculative nonsense that I was talking about. So, congrats. You’ve responded to my post but not to anything that I’ve said. I’ve been out of the loop on the thread. Glad I didn’t miss much.
I’m playing SFxT and am enjoying it way more than I thought I would. The online has been extremely hit and miss for me in ranked matches, but for the most part its playable. Tournaments are going to be awesome. 2v2’s should be super hype.
School and work have kept me from attending events lately. Really wish I could have been at final round with you guys. I’m going to PowerUP, and hopefully Season’s Beatings. SB is on the weekend before finals. I’ve been working my ass off to keep my grades up this semester, but if I’m not confident for a final, I probably won’t go. I’ll be at MWC of course, and still have some hope for going to EVO this year. I hope some of you guys end up going to powerup in cincy.
I’ll be at fight night this coming tuesday, and possibly the next. I’ll be there for the tourney on the 24th too. SFxT has sparked my fighting game interest again. That and watching final round. I’m enjoying learning the new match-ups and a new system, even enough so to do it on Xbox LIVE. I still plan on playing AE and marvel in tournaments. I know most of TN hated vanilla marvel, but you all know that I loved playing it. I never said it was a great, or even good game, but I always had fun when I was playing. I enjoyed it enough to suffer through the terrible online play just to learn matchups and player tendencies. I didn’t care enough after UMVC3 came out to play online. SFxT is the first game that has made me want to start my xbox, play ranked, or actually train and practice setups/combos. Just glad to have another game to try to improve in. Hope I can stay competent in 3 games now.

For the same reason Grimstar said, I just didn’t feel like giving a complete total detailed rundown list on all of the things that I don’t like about SFxT, the marketing decisions, or the shit that YOU and others would not tolerate if this came from any other game from another company. Real fucking talk. Plus, THAT would’ve been annoying to read right? So instead we bash the game in a comical and “sorta” exaggerated way. But even that gets people riled up. We’re trolling but…not Capcom for pretty much the entirety of this product? There’s even videos with compiled evidence and confirmation of shady shit if you wanted the intellectual concrete. The biggest thing that’s an opinion or subjective is the fun factor. I cannot call anyone a liar if they say they had fun with the game. I probably did call some people I joke with regularly fucking liars, but I know that’s not the argument. Gameplay things, we’ve all been playing fgs together for too long to not be able to peep when shit is spotty. Like…no denying it, I don’t give a fuck if you don’t play fgs regularly, even some of those people sensed some things were off. But the issue here is, whether this stuff is acceptable to whoever. That’s personal opinion. My whole rage with that was when certain people try to tell me that it’s NOT there. It is, but if people want to deal with that, it’s their choice. That shouldn’t be argued seriously(though I do jokingly). Other thing is this “whipped-up, media frenzy Fox News style” as if people are spouting some inaccurate shit. What? Again I ask, WHUT? Everyone knows about the lies pertaining to modes or has some notion of common sense to tell if certain business decisions aren’t quite kosher. Hell, Capcom themselves could validate and probably agree with everything I’m saying, then tell me, “Play it or don’t.” I’d have to accept that, just as I’d have to with any of you. But again, don’t pretend shit isn’t there or people are making shit up just because you’re having so much fun with the game that you don’t want any negative feedback on it.
And for as thorough as I tried to make the above statements, it’ll still get skewed just because it’s not cool to not like this game. I just had a similar discussion on SFxT - why I won’t buy the game for at least six months (price goes down and if I want DLC, it’s like I bought it at release with more content) and why I dislike the game mechanics. Somehow, I became a Capcom hater and my money was no good and I was being called lame.
I have no clue why difference of opinion, no matter what the issue, gets into angry banter that’s not an exchange of opinions, but a pissing contest about who is the most correct. It’s really confusing and really makes a lot of people not want to bother voicing any pleasure or displeasure about anything.

One last thing though Shawn, if you don’t mind explaining what you mean by “ignorant speculative nonsense,” I don’t think I understood what you were arguing there. I’m not opening another debate, just want to clarify that you’re saying what I interpreted you were saying.
And if you want, you can PM me the answer, I’m not intending on debating anymore, but it could spare the thread more potential SFxT talk.
If I may, the ignorance, at least in my opinion, is to that of the reason why it’s there. It seems that people believe they know the exact reason why the DLC is there when really none of us know the reason. Don’t take this as me being in favor of Capcom’s transparency, it is infuriating how the company has this terrible habit of not letting the fans know what’s happening. Also the ignorance, again in my opinion, is that the detractors seem to not have given any time to the game but calling the game itself “not competitive” or just bad in general comes from no real experience with it, and experience with a fighting game is not a few matches, it’s the amount of time it takes to familiarize yourself with an engine.
Also I do believe that capcom is learning. They showed that the European PSN store had the costumes on it and instead of the super high priced SF4 model they had they just had each character for a dollar, that’s really good and shows that they are learning.
Yeah, that I completely agree with. I don’t think the game itself should be hated on due to the DLC thing. I also don’t agree that it can not be a competitive game. Anything can be competitive, you just need someone to compete against.
I haven’t played the game enough to say that I hate the gameplay, but the DLC thing (including the DLC gems, and recently discovered DLC combos) has definitely rubbed me the wrong way, and is a direct cause as to why I haven’t purchased the game. It’s just a culmination of these things that make me not want it, I know for a fact I could play the game and at least enjoy it for what it is and play it with people, possibly competitively. I just don’t want to until I see how they handle this DLC. It’s good to know about that European model though, hopefully it will work out and they’ll try to do stuff like that more often.
I also fully realize it’s not always directly Capcom’s fault at all. Xbox has never (as far as I know) allowed a discount for the costumes, while PSN has them on sale all the time. So I’m not trying to irrationally bash Capcom all the time, it’s just they ultimately decide what to do with the DLC and how to work it into the game. And I dislike how this one is going so far. I’m still holding off for hope that the DLC characters on SFxT are free, in which case I’ll buy the game. But if they aren’t… eh… Capcom will have some explaining to do before I buy it. I will just want to know what’s going on at that point, then make a more educated decision.
Basically I just haven’t bought the game because as a customer, I don’t want to buy into this DLC trap Capcom always lays out. And yes, I am assuming they’re I’m aware I’m one man and not buying it to “make a point” won’t make a difference, but that’s not really what I’m doing. I just simply don’t want to buy the game unless they surprise me.

And really, let’s think about DLC for a minute. Count up how much money you’ve spent on the most expensive Capcom fighter. How much was the game + the stick + the DLC combined? I want to know.
