The New TN Thread: Jaggas and Bingos all day

I do have to say I was loving Vega in SFxT. Shit is just silly though.

WNF is about to stream SFxT I think. Kinda curious to see what shit they’ve got going on in the game now… Maybe it will spark an interest in it from me. Doubt it, but maybe.

@The Desk Video: Glitches were pretty crazy. Combos seem pretty par for the course, though. Wtf is Sagat Spins. IF YOU AIN’T SPINNIN’ YOU AIN’T WINNIN’.

We did tournaments every two weeks…I’m not against doing that again but we need to make a schedule with Memphis…

Booked for Major League Gaming Winter Championship. Got to bring this one back.

Right now looking at Vega/Paul. Anyone tried Paul out some, I wanna do some Phonics smashers

Paul Deathfist Grunt

I have. He plays sorta like a shoto.

Edit: playing with 360 pad… this is not fun, and I can play pad. It really does lag :\ sucks for regular pad warriors

When is that my nigga?

Marvel players, i’m thinking of doing that best three out of five stuff for regular matches from now on for MTNG Tournaments. What was the general response when this was originally brought up? I forget.

I was just supporting your point that the damage IS to high. And because its high in most 3D fighters (I cant really vouch for VF) The communities feel the need to use the 3/5 rounds to cut down on the random factor you talked about. Even though personally I dont think it helps.

I’m still making a few changes here and there to formats, rulesets, and such, but could you throw up the link in the OP?

Edit: SRK Calendar post is up, too [Mar 31, 2012] Middle Tennessee Needs Gaming! KOF/UMVC3/SC5/BBCSEX/SFXT (Antioch, Tennessee)

It is the weekend of the 24th of this month. I’m dying to go to this as well, so if anyone from midTN or Kentucky wants to go I’d toss plenty of money your way to help us get there.
I gotta bust into top 8 myself and support that TN KOF. Marcus going hard for that 6,000 first place in KOF, I’m sure.

You absolutely can send messages to any component including scripts. Scripts can also fire off events. On top of that you can write your own actions for the state machines with c#. So, yea. Incredibly powerful.

Lately, I’ve been creating c# scripts designed to be directly interacted with FSMs. I’m reducing my FSM usage and specifically targeting what needs visual logic now that I have more experience with the tools.

I’m currently designing the networking for the game which I think will be pretty good for a first commercial attempt. I’m focusing on a lot of usability issues that I have with other games, etc.

March 24th Bama won’t be making it up. If people want to play KOF, Marvel, SCV, etc., consider coming down to monthlies in Birmingham on the 24th. Venue and game entry $10 each.

Grimstar: Not sure if I’ve met you, but would your girlfriend be interested in getting some basics down from another woman? I’ll be up there more often.

Jason: It looks like I can come up this Sunday and Tuesday for ST training. Let me know if this is still good.

pretty sweet. one of my friends works on android game dev up north and he enlightened me that Unity3D (not Pro) is free for now so I’m going to be jumping on that bandwagon myself I think.

Hmmmm. Ok now I need to know where. If there’s interest an it’s not dumb far, i’d be willing to roll with Young Blade and anyone else interested.

Good shit Sara. If I don’t go to MLG I’ll hit this up most likely.

It’s the same day as the GG tourney tho…hmmm…I see KoF, so that’s good. Any AE popping?

Hey man, Sev’s out of town I believe, and as FlyMike said, Lil Majin isn’t gonna be posting for a bit, so as the least competent King player in Memphis, allow me to contribute what little knowledge I have.

IMO, the way King is implemented in SFxT is vastly different from his incarnation in T6. He’s missing quite a few pokes and combo starters, which is no suprise. He is also missing his low sidesteps, which in T6 could be used to start chain grabs or other WR attacks.

He still retains his counter, though it appears to counter both punches and kicks, so long as you use the right counter height vs ground/jumping attacks.

The biggest change for me is the fact that he can no longer combo into his ground bounce/bind, like he could in T6. The only bind move he now has comes off the jaguar step. He can’t launch anymore, then combo into bind, then iSW. However, as we all know, he can combo the knee into itself into this game’s version of iSW.

Also, his command throws feel way more punishable in SFxT, both GS and Tomahawk have extended recovery periods, whereas in T6 you had the usual short whiff animation that was standard to most throws. Of course you could punish throws if whiffed easily in T6, but the recovery is really exaggerated in SFxT.

Playing him in this game feels very jarring to me, as a lot of what I used to rely on for pokes or punishes is pretty much gone. I have yet to really break him down in training, but those are my thoughts on King is SFxT vs T6, as the worst King player in Memphis.

Edit: Oh, and GG’s to everyone at fight night last night, we were missing a couple regulars, but a lot of folks showed up who hadn’t been in a while. Great to see that many ppl playing together again at fight night.

@GeekTwist and T&G: New layout looks great! I really like the new more open feeling, doesn’t feel cramped anymore and the place just flows much better. Good stuff. I’m gonna be keeping in touch.

I’m waiting on Orel to let us know if he has enough extra tickets. If not, I’ll be purchasing a three day pass. I definitely want to be see shows on Friday and Saturday. I usually sell my Sunday ticket. A word of warning about the Beale Street Music Fest: Its usually hella rainy so be ready for mud. Bring some clothes you dont really care about and BOOTS! (…oooor just a pair of shoes you dont care about anymore.)

Yes, GGs to all two of you that I played on ssfiv last night. After having played for the past 9 months online, I will have to get acclimated to playing against people in real life. I can understand how some moves might not chain together the way they do online, but completely dropped and/or missed attacks seem very strange to me considering that this is real life and not online… Things that work for me in even training mode didn’t seem to work yesterday [i.e. chun’s focus attack > back dash > headstomp > target combo > ex bird]. Anyway, I had fun, and it’s definitely worth five bucks.

You guys still play on the weekends anywhere? [not that I could ever make it because of my workaholic lifestyle, but still good to know just in case]

Sev hosted last weekend. There’s no real set schedule, usually if someone is hosting they post up here, so it pays to keep track of the thread.
