Oh dang, you’re right. I was thinking Clarksville was closer to Lebanon than what it really is. I might try to make it up to at least one this summer though.
Numbers don’t mean it’s a great game. Marvel 2 for years was the most popular game at EVO just because it’s an easier game to get into. Easier games = more numbers to a point. Tekken 6 can’t get numbers to save its life and Tekken was more popular than SF at one point as well. Not saying MVC3 is bad, it’s fun for sure, but it’s very very deadly for small mistakes.
It’s about what games came out when, Street Fighter 4 revitalized a lot of interest in fighting games in general, and Marvel will eventually overtake it in popularity regardless of what type of game it is.
Most of the “balance” issues are lately with the last few games released. People were spoiled by Super Street fighter IV (Not AE) and don’t realize for as long as SF has been around the games have been top heavy with only a few characters being usable. MVC2, Alpha 3, Alpha 2, CVS2, etc
I’d just argue that far too many people out there are self-entitled brats who will bitch about anything they have to work for.
for Abe for your getting hit issues Marvel is so fast I really suggest recording some of your matches and watching them to see exactly how you got opened up during a match something can happen so fast so its hard to know sometimes what exactly happened I do wish you could save replays like in Super
In SF there is an answer to everything.
In Marvel you just have to get hit and lose a character, sometimes there’s absolutely nothing you can do.
Why do you think SF players complain again?
Prime example, you’re Hagger and the other person is Wesker/Magneto/Deadpool/Dormammu and they don’t f*** up, what do you do? You lose, there is absolutely nothing you could have done to win. Period.
Another prime example, you’re phoenix, you get snapped in and Dormammu releases a run run and xfactors into another one, you die, there’s absolutely nothing you could have done to save her, period.
Not to mention the DHC glitch is really messing with the balance right now, some characters (Magneto) are WAYYYY better than they should be.
Anthony, what’s good homie! I somehow completely skipped your post. Welcome back to Lameville. People play on both, but only thing being dedicated to PS3 is Tekken. So if you’re a devout pad player then…oh well.
Indeed. Didn’t use Sonya in tourney. :shake:
I appreciate your earnest honesty Cale. I really do.
YOU ARE AN OLD MAN AND A FOOL! At least Kong Law needs meter to go super saiyan. He’s going to get it anyway regardless. But on paper, and in real life Raiden is the biggest fool.
I don’t hafta do shit but eat Fat Boys and chop and screw your asses next time I come down there. Teleports, golden armor, and all.
LMAO! Hush.
Your soul food is mine.
Like Jason said, no one right now is using Tsung(and alot of charas) to potential. Bishop always liked him for him, but others just want that damage boost and forget he’s an actual character. Kinda like how 95% of Phoenix users don’t know that she has moves and they can try to live with her.
Fuck the text file. I want it in a character guide. That’s the exclusive lowdown.
Cale’s jean jacket has creases in the sleeves so sharp that if you hugged him he’d accidentally perform a fatality on you. Then say he only reason he has that jacket in the first place is because he had it from back when FUBU was in style and just now getting around to wearing it. And he’d still wear it if Fat Albert wasn’t on the back of it.
Yea because he’s not broken. He’s wrecked. When are you leaving officially? I want to get back out there before then.
I added more stuffs. I made sure I completed the vent. My ears are still red though.
I’m making Marcus use Kabal. “Kuhbowl” is the Steve Fox of MK. Good in every game and full of shit.
I haven’t seen Kano yet. Back in the day niggas loved Kano. I forgot he was even on the game until I fought a Blanka in AE saturday.
Go out there and clean house with the teachings of DreamTR. Or play Baraka.
Me: “So what makes Baraka so bad?”
Trung: “Well see it’s…”
Cody: “NOTHING GOOD.”
use haggar assist. blocking is for noobs.
First example: Haggar is a terrible character by himself, but he’s decent with assists. As an assist character, he’s pretty godlike if you use it properly (not spamming it mindlessly). You’re just comparing really bad matchups though. Couldn’t I say the same for T. Hawk vs. Dhalsim (I’m assuming this matchup is horrid from the last time I played)? Some matchups are just really extreme in Marvel, which is why assists are there.
Second example: That’s the risk of running Phoenix. The player must’ve gotten hit beforehand to get her snapped in, so there was the first mistake.
^^ I only made the first example since he is usually an anchor and Haggar WILL be by himself eventually. It happens alot.
Asking someone to never be hit in this is asking for alot, I’m convinced that on paper yeah the game is balanced to an extent. In reality there’s not one person that doesn’t get opened up every match with some sort of crazy mixup. If there was actually a human that could block in this game like everyone tells you to, maybe this game would be balanced.
EDIT: I’m just stating that the game is cheap and unbalanced, I have alot of fun playing it, but covering up glaring flaws by saying, “Just block” is stupid. I’ll continue to play it in tournaments as long as Street Fighter keeps funding me to play it.
All this talk about blocking in MvC3 kinda makes me wonder who here actually played MvC2. If you got hit once in that game you could lose your entire TEAM.
Once again, if you don’t like the game then don’t play it. Plain and simple.
record skips

Can I not criticize a game I like? lol
And fix’d
Nope, you just gotta drink the kool-aid, bend over, and take it up the ass like everyone else.
Stalin is my hero!
Exactly…
Everyone is getting mad for nothing. I made a joke with bishop that I would make in person millions of times. Can I criticize or talk about Marvel? You bet your fucking ass I can! As far as understanding mechanics, Scrooge (Cylus), i kinda do understand them, hence me not loving the game.
Yeah, no one’s arguing, Duckie. In fact, these have been pretty civilized, intelligent conversations from what I’ve seen.
@ Woot: The guy that won Saturday’s tournament and I discussed Haggar that night while matches were going on. We were both saying how bad teams usually are with Haggar as the last character. It’s basically like using 2 characters instead of 3, because once your front 2 die, what can Haggar do? This is why we’ve seen so much Tron usage. She can actually get in and mix up as an anchor.
I don’t remember trying to cover flaws by saying “just block everything.” I think people expect to be all offense/no defense and still be able perform well in Marvel. Even the best players in Marvel have to play some defense. Although, I will agree that Marvel is very offensive-based, and trying to block too many mixups will get you killed. But, again, assists come into play, and a few can autopilot defense for you.
I’m not sure if you’ve learned how to tell whether or not I’m joking, so I’ll share something with you: I’m almost always joking.
^^I’m almost always trolling.
I have electricity coming out of my fingers today.
Which is really why we get along so well – we’re both just assholes at heart.
Real muthafucken talk. I got hit in marvel in the tourney and near immediately found myself trying to do breakers like it was MK. It gets to the point where I don’t even care about the fact that I’m taking damage, I’m just tired of looking at the fucking combo.
Also, I completely acknowledge the fact that I am terrible at blocking in Marvel. I cannot wrap my head around blocking in that game. Combine that with un-interruptible touch of death combos and it becomes very difficult to have fun with the game.
I’ll try to postpone the patented J-Willy I-told-you-so post and stick with it for a while though…
Also, guys, it’s totally cool to discuss fighting games on a fighting game forum. Just wanted to make sure you were aware.
lololol. Legendary post was legendary. Mike let me know ASAP if you come back out to the (Mar)Ville before Shawn dips. We must kick it like shaolin. He leaves the 28th iirc. Shit what you doin this weekend?
