No your not wrong in that either. It becomes a self fulfilling prophecy. I guess my stance is I dropped moeny on several new games for them to be useless in a week. I just dont want to have to do it again. Selfish…yes but with so many games coming out I have to be careful with the money. I will watch and mess with it tomorrow if someone brings it though. I hope it succeeds but this town is known for not accepting new games.
And you have to remember that AE 2012 comes out in like 2 weeks for console. Goodbye to KOF then.
Question about the new venue. Are we still gonna be eating out afterwards since it closes at 12? Are there any good places to eat after 12 around the area that is not that shitty mexicano restaurant? Woot and Sev, since y’all live near there, any places to recommend to go eat afterwards…hopefully with good quality chicken.
Perfect wording
I hope this is not the truth even though i see that this will definitely do some damage to the KOF crowd. I will probably not be touching SF4 for a while till i get comfortable with KOF XIII and may just move on to playing ST and KOF XIII exclusively and AE casually.
The real problem is that there is always a new damn game coming out every other month so regardless if its good or not we never have enough time with the game to really appreciate it because ppl start to hop on the next games dick as soon as a new trailer is out for it and ppl start claiming characters, colors, names, etc then drop the game after a week or 2 because they start getting raped and the hype died so its back to SSFZzzzzzzz 4 until the next game is announced. I’m sure kof 13 is probably pretty good and yes that’s a mans game right there just like the rest of them but I know i’m not gonna waste my money on it nor will I invest time playing it because I never was a fan of the kof or fatal fury series in general. Outside of ssv special, world heroes perfect, fighters history dynamite, matrimelee and breakers revenge I never liked snk fighters much.
It’s sad but true
It’s happened before and it will continue to happen as long as peeps keep that same mentality. I’ve tried playing every fighter here but nothing catches on for long. It’s always back to sf4 and mvc3 for ppl here. The same is gonna happen for ttt2 when it hits consoles just watch. I already know skullgirls is not gonna do shit here but i’m still gonna play it cause i’ m really looking forward to it. Marvel is marvel so I don’t need to sit in training mode all day everyday practicing combos and stuff. I get better playing ppl. I’ve already hit training mode enough with the teams I use,all 3 of them lol cause I don’t like the majority of the cast so i’ve already put it up on the shelf to collect dust while I focus on more awesome games like metal gear solid 4. Of course i’ll always be playing marvel but my training session with that game ended after the first week I got it,now I just beat dat ass lol
Yes because a patch is going to make everybody drop a game…
It will. People have been waiting because the patch is changing aspects of the game making it slightly different
It is just the way of the fighting game community. I want to be optimistic, but the reason i can not be optimistic is that it will happen because SF4 is such a driving force in the fighting game community.
Whatever I’m playing it.
Also I keep confusing/forgetting about the different ways to use meter since there’s so many. AFAIK there’s:
HD mode (full blue bar, neomax is 2 meters)
dream cancel (one special into another, half blue bar)
super (1 bar)
ex move (1 bar)
extra powerful super (2 bars)
neomax (3 bars)
and then you can cancel anything here into anything else right? and is a max cancel an HD mode into your neomax? Or is there more to it?
This is the most confusing part of the game imo. Seems like a lotta stuff to remember.
Max cancel is canceling a super into a NeoMax.
Does it have to be the 1 bar super or the 2 bar one? since it’s called “max” cancel I would think it might have to use all of your bar (5) instead of 4.
Oh yeah I meant drive cancel not dream cancel, I don’t think they’re in this by that name at least
what you have labelled as “dream cancel” is actually “drive cancel”
Jas- I’ve heard Majin turned down the MM… You know we cool with each other but I’ll GLADLY take that spot and put some money your and SRK pockets…
Can this happen on tmrw?
Also accepting all challenges in kof
Patrice O’neil died and that sucks…
Good God, someone give this man a medal. THIS. RIGHT. HERE.
If Tennessee wasn’t so ADD on fighting games, we might actually show competition at other tournaments. Everyone dicks around on a game for a week or two until a new game comes out, ad infinitum. That shit gets old. I’ve had several locals ask me in the past, “How do you consistently place high in [insert game title],” and my answer is always, “I just stick with it.” People expect to barely put time into a game and get great results, but that’s just not how it works. It’s also dumb to drop a game because you lose. You don’t learn by winning. In fact, you teach the other player more than yourself when you win. On the other hand, being a training mode monster doesn’t help much either since it doesn’t help building defense. But I digress.
You know how Mike said “just put the ball in the hole.” Well, just stick with the fucking sport too. You can’t be a pro basketball player by playing it for a week and then picking up golf.
well,
situations can be viewed differently. MK was a disaster on it’s own. Lots of people did pick it up and hype was drived behind it. It miserably failed because of the patches and all that crap. Richard, I know you said it was successful and it was as far as sales go, but where is the game now?
Marvel is Marvel and SF is SF… those 2 are in a league of their own so to speak. KoF can be that game that everyone is waiting for to break the cycle of the other 2 but is it really possible? Is it going to be hyped in tournaments? Are key people going to actually play it seriously? Because lets be honest… I am not talking about the casual gamer. Casual gamers don’t spen thousands of dollars traveling to tournaments, buying new equipment, spend hours on end practicing etc…etc…
In my honest opinion, the very little time I have spent on KoF, it does have the potential to be in the upper echelon tier of FG’s for the serious FG player. The thing I have yet to try, is online play. Unfortunately, that makes a huge difference these days. But even still, Once games hit that upper tier, what Serious FG player, takes online seriously??? It’s a great “tool” per say, (and I use that term very loosely), but not an actual true means to the validity of the game! I dunno, I just recommend to everyone to try it out. If you dont like it, then you dont like it.
I just watched this dude on the Charlie Sheen roast a few days ago. WHY DOES EVERYONE DIE WHEN THEY APPEAR ON THESE ROASTS!!!
Its cool marcus, majin stil my boy. As for u stepping up thats fine by me. I dont have fiddy bones to put up tomorrow since I spent over a huned on black friday lol but we can just run it back from our last set. Ft10 fo dem 10 dog biscuits?
Dax bring that equipment homie cause this needs to get recorded. I think its gon get pretty loud everytime marcus hits me with charging star and I blow his face with a magnum lol!!
If Japan knew anything about America they should have named it KoF: Swag and it would have sold a hundred thousand trillion.
KOF just never caught on here in the US…again, same thing with Virtua Fighter 5 and look how long it took Guilty Gear to gain any respect? These are all very good games but they never gain tons of respect. KOF XIII has to piggyback off SF4. If people like it or not, SF4 is the game that is the central hub…remember for years there were NO SF games and Tennessee was Tekken/Soul Calibur/Guilty Gear central…I don’t think there are any issues with it; this cycle has went on before…
Now to have SOME type of KOF hype, we are having two tournaments for it:
Dec 17-AE2012, the last 3s tourney, UMVC3, KOF
January 7 -AE 2012, UMVC3, KOFXIII ($100 extra added to the pot regardless of entrants, $75 extra for 1st, $25 extra for 2nd) and possibly Tekken Tag Tournament HD (Tekken Hybrid) since that’s something sort of old and sort of new…
At least with this there is one training KOFXIII tourney and another one coming up where you have to hope Majin and ShinBlade don’t take everyone’s KOF fight moneys =)
So at the very least we WILL support the game for a bit but these are our next two sets of tournaments…the final details will be coming up soon but the January 7 one will be a much bigger tournament than the Dec 17 one…
Damn I’ll be in Jersey for break…three tournaments missed.
