Just fight him in arcade or story mode if you defeat him you unlock him.
is the default on very easy or something, going through arcade mode second time and haven’t seen him or saiki yet. Lol just moves it to very easy and got him lol.
I’ll admit Bison is just about the only exception to this b/c of 3-frame moves but even so I feel like most of the time I’m much better off just waiting and then doing cr.mk or something…or if the knockdown is techable not even trying to mix up and waiting for an untechable one to set up a safejump/crossup. Like I said it’s hard to describe but if you play ST or 3s you’ll see exactly what I mean.
In 3s weren’t meaties not that useful because of parry? Thats how it always felt to me.
Meaties in SF4 still feel really good. I mean yes some of the cast has super safe wake up options but several members of the cast have silly good options themselves off meaty pokes (Mak, Cody, Bison ect).
If a player wants to parry a meaty in 3s he must guess high or low, and even so some characters could just complete a target combo (ken for instance) or spam a light attack to discourage parrying meaty’s. You also can’t meaty throws like you can in SFIV so its really just a different guessing game with more at stake depending on the character, for instance if a good Urien parries your meaty, that could be 80% of your life.
I would say 3s rewards you more for guessing right or “reading” your opponent if you want to call it that, but it’s still just a guess. SFIV rewards more you for not being absolutely stupid, not that you can be stupid and win in 3s but you probably have a better chance doing things noone does and winning as compared to SFIV. There’s a nature about being random in 3s that SFIV doesn’t have with it’s cookie cutter matchups. For instance, there is no reason for me not to safe jump Abel and press Throw as my Jumping move either meaties or whiffs and my throw comes out catching his EX roll, this will always happen no matter what, and I should always do it. Ryu can safe jump Viper and shut down everyone of her reversal options including backdash, so there is no reason for you not to perform safe jump xx SRK barring execution failure.

This could not be more true IMO. I like SF4 a lot no doubt but there is a lot of situations like what you describe in many match ups. Though there is a counter to the Bison safe jump OS as Able its just really hard.

This game is brutal on pad I gotta say. Hell, brutal in general. Everyone on ranked seems to be really really good.

Yeah GGs dude. As you could tell, I knew no combos whatsoever. Lol. I like Elizabeth but she seems out of place in this game. I know this is the first KOF game I’ve attempted to play and I don’t know shit, but I felt real powerless in some of those matches using her. I gravitate towards characters like that though apparently. I’ll keep at it. But I gotta say man, SFIV has spoiled me regarding inputs. Like you said, KOF is pretty damn strict on what inputs are accepted and it’s just seems impossible for me to get anything out especially under pressure.
I like Elizabeth too because her launcher looks like Lili’s from Tek. I thought for sure Justin would main Mai and Ash then later drop Ash when he found out he was a dude. He’d then quit KOF forever because he couldnt look at the disc anymore without feeling weird.
Of course KoF comes out within the last few weeks of classes. Bout to be finals week soon…
I love that Ralph’s HD combo just has him slugging you in the gut for half an hour all the way across the screen.
I also love that if you try to reversal my ass and I block it, you’re gonna die regardless of how much meter you have.
