i dunno why you are explaining things to me that i obviously understand.

Because…

moves can be evaded in any direction and in any situation in vf. if you are backed into a corner, you can still evade an attack and punish, because it handles evading with invincibility.

in tekken you need to not only time your sidesteps and sidewalks,** you need to know which direction to sidestep**, which range you should sidestep, and you are limited by character size (no taka dodging moves like an elegant beast), stage placement (you can’t sidestep into a wall and still “evade”), and **timing to evade ****(you can use frame traps that make moves that normally you could evade at 0 frames that you can’t at + frames).

…made it sound like you didn’t know these were in VF on top of being able to evade attacks in “…any direction and in any situation…” Not everyone has the same SW speed either. Evades are different, as you noted.

in the end, you probably can’t explain where tekkens shortcoming are except that evading isn’t “zippy”. it really just sounds like you don’t understand tekken well enough to defend your quip. **if i’m gonna pop off at something, i’ll make sure i understand it. **you cannot compare tekken’s oki to vf oki. its not remotely comparable. tekken tracking and vf half circulars aren’t anything alike.

Based it off of Aries’s tutorial about Side Stepping/Walking. It doesn’t have the zip VF does, and it’s not just Tekken. I was going back at the quip about nobody playing KI when TR drops for Xbone. Bolded was ironic since you guys are popping off on a game you haven’t played.

Both games are different but the one thing they have in common? The Oki is brutal.

in tekken, you can be preventative with your movement. you can sidewalk without timing to avoid key attacks to limit peoples options. you can move in and out of ranges where a move will track. you can use the stage and cut off movement using moves you know track towards the direction they need to escape the walls. and on top of that, you can use your movement to make moves track that normally would not track by using counter movement to offset their evasion attempts. its almost like… you know… logical. and strategic. and nuanced.

You can do this in VF and it’s pretty important. You get the added OM for more zip as well instead of constant evade cancelling or Side Walking.

vf’s evasion = time sidestep, unless it tracks, or evade one way for half circulars. vf’s evade system advantage depends on front foot, while tekken’s evade advantage is move dependent and will vary per character. and reiterating: dependent on character size, movement speed sidestepping each direction, movement speed sidewalking each direction (yes, they are all different), and situation (Stage and frame advantage). and tekken has tracking (circular) moves as well.

Advantage is determined by the total frames of the move. Foot/body positioning is character dependent. Again Group A and Group B.

i like vf. i’m not even half bad at the game. it has its pros over tekken for sure. but if you are saying tekken’s movement/evade is bad compared to vf, you’re wrong. that’s not even “opinion”. **it values knowledge over timing/guessing and strategy over reaction. **sideturn is a good system and a good reward for successfully evading, but it doesn’t take anything away from tekken’s movement being deep as fuck.

I’m still right, but again taps that give that zip are just better.

Bolded isn’t exclusive from each other, but I get what you are saying.

The side game really adds to the 3D games, and I’ll bet money you’ll start seeing it in the next iteration of Namco and Team Ninja fighters.

BACK TO KILLER INSTINCT

No one can know how KI will fare. I prefer Team Ninja’s way of handling the F2P model, but DH’s model is interesting. The seasonal thing thing I look at as better wording, than being mum on updates that most people know are coming. Everything is laid out on the table. The animations looke fine and the attention to detail is solid, and not just in the sound department. Will it over take people’s fighter of choice? It’s possible, but the high price tag is a deterrent right now, unless you are really down for it. I’m happy with the fighters out right now, most people are, as everyone is covered depending on their game of choice and will just settle for that in the meantime until the Xbone price drop. I think KI will be a nice addition to the list of fighters out right now and the future releases.

I still think both systems are for suckers, atm. But no matter, I don’t see why you would go Xbox over PS4 if you are a sucker. They both do the same shit but one is cheaper. Games you say? Meh, launch games blow. Ive watched videos of shit and nothing impresses, on either side. If it is impressive its because its also gonna be on PC and being shown being played on PC. But KI, you say - fuck KI, not worth the cost of entry. The most impressive things about either console are things that will come in the future.

Considering Titanfall is hyped to be the best console FPS in a while, I’ll take it. KI would have almost been good enough for me to purchase even if it was coming out on the WiiU (though I don’t like Nintendo IPs so that wouldn’t work in the end). KI on PS4 or XB1 would have had me insta buying a system and it worked out.

Yeah I played with the pad at the Xbox One tour. Was doing special moves with Glacius on the dpad no problems. Huge step up from 360 pad and about as responsive as I remember the old Sega Saturn pads being. You can really feel the diagonals now. Didn’t play Forza, but heard hype about the rumble triggers from those that played it.

I’m still not completely sold on DR3 yet, but I do like the slightly more serious tone while retaining the comedy. Be interesting to see if they make any real breakthrough uses with the Kinect.

Obviously DR3 would look dumb to you if you’ve never played the series before. The games are actually really good, you should buy them. Ask your Asian wife for a copy of DR2: OTR instead of McDonalds or something, they cost the same as a combo meal.
