lol I had just changed that before reading your post. It was irking me as well, even thought of removing Lambda entirely since she stands out so much from Mu and Nu.
Thanks for the advice nevertheless.
Thanks That means a lot to me coming from someone who makes amazing stuff like you (loving dat Strider template btw).
Especially since I’m still a total newb at PS. A simple swap like this would probably have taken you five minutes haha
I spent a lot of time searching for the tools I needed, since I used to do image editing in paint.net
I even had to look up on the internet where the hell the hue/saturation option was lol
Your welcome one piece of advice i can give since your just starting learn how to use the pen tool look up some tutorials it’s one of the best tools to learn it’ll come along way when ever you need to draw some odd shapes and to render stocks of wallpapers and stuff. Also look up some signature tutorials alot of the basic stuff they show u in those tuts will help you out alot imo. Ghost rider
I am more than satisfied with the end result. KaboXx I can’t thank you enough for recreating the BB template and giving me helpfull pointers.
Ordered the print and a plexi just now, can’t wait for them to arrive!
Looks good man, im not a fan of full panel templates for some odd reason and there’s only a few that ever caught my eye. Though this one works pretty well.
Here’s a simple CvS2 theme I put together for my T5 HORI stick. It’s only the second time I’ve done custom art for one of my arcade sticks and the first time I’ve done it in GIMP so I’m still learning. Comments appreciated!
I played around with that at first but I didn’t quite like it enough in the end. I don’t personally like the scan-line look, and if I was going to use the CvS logo I think I would try to put it foreground like the Capcom and SNK logos, rather than having 90% of it covered by the art. But that’s just my personal preference. Thanks for the feedback though!
You don’t have to use the old background. You can simply swap it for something else and, using the template I made, it’ll still feel more CvS than the first example you posted.
Other bits of advice to maintain that CvS feel. Don’t let yellow dominate the design. Outside of the boxes, CvS had alot of orange and red in it’s menus.
I went with the yellow mainly because I wanted the stick to be yellow, haha. But you do make a good point, and I may add some more color to a future version. I toyed around with using your red-orange-yellow gradient background idea for a while too. As for your use of the boxes behind the buttons, it looks great on an 8-button stick but I couldn’t really get it to look the way I wanted it to with my 6-button layout. I did use your boxes to build the ones on my stick though, so thanks for that! And as I said in my initial post, this is the first time I’ve used GIMP so I’m starting our simple, I’m a programmer not a graphic artist. Again, big thanks for the feedback, you guys have been doing this way longer than me and I appreciate the help!
I quite like it, but certain things I don’t like so much, and I’ve had it quite a while now. I’ve done a new template which is essentially the same design, but (in my opinion) improved. I really liked the 3SO artwork so wanted to get that on my stick.
I’ve only done these last 2 today, and I’m lacking in Photoshop knowledge and experience, so I don’t consider these finished yet. Just looking for ideas/advice/criticism if anybody cares to share it :).
