Hey, quick question for y’all. When you’re doing button artwork, how do you go about centering it? Do you just eyeball it, or is there a method to finding the actual center of a circle that I’m missing here?
easy way,isolate one button hole,free transform it (ctrl + T),it will show you the center,drag rulers to locate its positions precisely,then equip a brush tool or a pen and make a tiny dot where the rulers cross.
All these years of using photoshop and I didn’t think of that. I feel like a doofus. Thank you!

Thanks it’s a wip. Getting myself a Hori RAP as a personal christmas gift, so I gotta swag it out.
EDIT: Artwork completed! The poker chip under the stick… I intend on using a clear dust-washer, if anyone has used a clear dust washer, will the poker chip be visible enough?
Took me an extremely long time to come up with a design I liked but I’ve finally got one! It’s Marduk from TTT2 and I think I may end up adding text to say the buttons but 100% on that yet. The stick is going to be made out of wood from scratch since I’m going the poor (and more fun?) route so this is basically just a test to see how it looks with joystick/button placement.
edit: the template is actually for Q4 because that’s closer to the size that I’m planning to make

its sweet, and yeah, i hate figuring out designs as my favourite designs often are very different from mainstream ones

@Shintank nice design! Based on what you are describing I think the design will come out nice. And I would prefer it the way it is without the button text.
I made a cheap Mets one for a MadCatz SE, took me half an hour with my meager GIMP skills. I’d do a Yakuza (Like a Dragon) one, but finding a background for the dragon is a pain.

remember half the mets guy will be gone because of the black outline is where it will be cut

It’s an old picture from a Topps trading card. I always preferred Shea Stadium to CitiField. I’ll work on it a little more. Thanks. Now fixed.
After getting some inspiration from looking at the last 20 pages or so of this thread, I went to work on designing the artwork for my new, and first, stick - seeing as I’m not a fan of the graphics it comes with as i don’t play SCV.

What do you guys think? I might have to spray the case itself as well to match, as it might not fit as is, seeing as the SCV Mad Catz stick comes with one blue and one red side =/
Next will be to figure out where is best to get it printed and cut in the UK…

tek-innovations.com ship plexi+art for $10 to Sweden, you could try get a shipping quote through his site. he also got the templates so it’s easy to do.
the art looks nice, but 6 button is doge and 8 is dick, so keep that in mind. i dont like the button texts, but im not the one thats going to play by that stick. fonts are just so ridiculously hard to get right. the japanese signs looks good there, but will they interfer with the dushwasher?
I’ll have to check that site out in the new year then, hopefully getting the art and plexi (assuming I need that as well?) plus postage won’t cost too much…
6 vs 8, Its my first stick, So I’m just going to leave it as it is apart from remapping the buttons, if I feel the extra 2 buttons are wasted I’ll order some plugs and adjust accordingly when I order the plexi!
I’m still not 100% sold on the button texts, its partly there because I’m not used to the old school names, so figured it would help me pick it up a bit quicker - plus on the artwork itself the holes aren’t shown (I just took them out as the template was barely visible on screen) and it looked a bit plain on that side of the stick.
I’ll print off a rough paper one and see if the washer gets in the way or not, no idea how big it was or how much room it takes up, its all easily moved if needs be =)
