The NEW Official Arcade Stick Art Thread NO IMAGE QUOTING!

I used it for a while before I got Photoshop… It’s similar to PS(not as good, of course) and it’s free. It’s also a good learning tool for people just getting into Photo Editing/Design.

Here’s a quick SNES Controller (US, hence the purple) design. I cut the button art out to make the pic look better, but the actual template has a bit more leeway for the button art:

whoa, whoa, whoa. why are you touching a femme fatale stick? those are rare and worth alot.
buy another stick and mod that. and sell the femme fatale stick to me

That’s very cool. I’m feeling pangs of regret for ever selling my SNES at that garage sale back in 1999.

What do you guys usually use for scaling non-vector images?

The lighting on the top buttons is wrong, it makes that row look concave.

It is concave… So… thanks!

… see?

Here’s the finished product!

Sorry for the poor lighting… it’s late.

I usually use the highest quality raster I can find before even attempting to scale it in either direction. There’s no substitute for more pixels I’m afraid. When I pull source art, I try not to go below 2MP (1600x1200). If you ABSOLUTELY have to scale, CS5 has a good filter called “Surface Blur” That will take some of the detail out of a scaled raster image but will keep the overall image looking non-pixelated.

Before (scaled from 200px to 500px)

Foehammer… and thanks!

seems like everyone has a damn foehammer case but me :frowning: ive still basically just got the TE and thats about it. (also a SF:AC stick that doesn’t work with converters) im currently in the process of doing a design for butteroj on his foehammer case. no idea what i want to do yet, but im pretty much free to do anything i want on it.

Yeah, I try not to touch anything below 2MP, too. But I didn’t know about surface blur – the difference it makes is really noticeable. Thanks for the tip!

NOOOO!! Are you kidding? Don’t touch that thing, you can flip it right this very moment for $300-400. If you strip that art you will LITERALLY be throwing away money. If you don’t like the art on it, sell it and buy yourself two replacement sticks that you can do whatever with.

You can get it to look even better if you play around with the settings a bit and combine it with “smart blur”… but again, you will lose a bit of detail and it should really only be used with the knowledge that it’s going to look “stylized” and not very detailed. It works well for faded background images that aren’t in focus.

Joysticks and Sriracha, FTW.

How do you do those cool looking circles around the buttons?~

I had no idea it was worth that much. I’ve probably already sank that much $$$ into it anyway with internal mods and button replacement so I really wouldn’t wanna sell it anyway. I would gladly sell the stock art though.

…or do you think that having it modded with the MC Cthulu and neutrik USB AND RJ45 would raise the value/make it easier to sell?

as soon as you “void the warranty”, you’ve fucked it up.

those are good modifications, i’m sure you’d get a good price for it with those mods.

I used the ellipse shape tool. Then I contracted the circle so I could make the inner circle hollow. Then I created my design using the line tool, merging layers, and duplicating layers. Then I added the drop shadow, inner shadow, 90% opacity and outer glow effect.

Would I be able to get the psd to that so I can merely grab those circles off of ya for future use?~
