I love MVC1, but I would never play it past a casual level.
I think a game truly bad if people revert to playing it’s predecessor instead. SSBB (people played SSBM instead). SSF2 (people played the new characters, but were turned off by the slow speed and reverted to SF2Turbo). MK4 (just plain sucked. Went back to UMK3).
MvC1 was a helluva lot better then MvsSF. It was probably on the same level as XvsSF, but still fresh enough that people didn’t stop playing it for it’s predecessors.
can someone give the match up chart the top tiers, like their bad match ups, and what they use to beat other characters
Strider vs gold war machine, war machine, wolverine, Red venom. And Strider vs Strider match up
gold war machine vs war machine, wolverine, strider, red venom should be easy.

The more ive been playing gold war machine, and if someone picks war machine, they just run away the whole match, since I cant fly.
Ok ill try to answer these in my exp as an average level mvc1 player and from what ive watched on ggpo
Pretty much the rules of basic GWM seems to be
A. Enemy can hurt GWM from full screen (strider, WM): rush them, call assists at the right times
B. Enemy has to touch GWM (RV, Wolv): zone out and build meter for duos. St. Mk is godlike against wolverine.
GWM vs WM is a losing battle for GWM imo. Maybe someone else could be more in depth but WM can just beam him out.
GWM vs wolv is almost like sent vs magneto in mvc2…except imagine that sent can launch mags out of rom lol. Wolverine has insane throw priority and range in marvel 1 so jumping at him is a bad idea. Just watch out for BBX and that should be an easy fight or GWM.
fighting strider is annoying as gwm. Just try to get as close as possible and keep him from activating orbs as much as possible.
I dont play strider so i cant help you there.
Wolverine and War Machine are like yin and yang. Wolv controls the ground and WM controls the air. One hit by either leads to death. And WM has the easiest guardbreak of all time (fierce dash fierce dash repeat)
Red Venom has no bad matchups. Even against GWM. He can just tick grab him over and over. And against anyone else, well…youve seen the infinite im sure haha.
Wolverines bad matchups…hmm. RV GWM and Hulk maybe? But theres not really anyone owning Wolv w Hulk besides DC.

couldnt you just down jab out of a tick throw with gold war? Im also really not sure whos bad match ups are for War Machine. I dont think Strider has bad match ups, since you can just ouroboros over and over again, and just keep building meter
Sure you could i suppose but RV is fast so usually people jump in on GWM from what ive seen
WM loses to RV and against wolv its pretty close. He also loses to strider unless you have the execution to get the one hit kill.
Strider gets beat by wolverine and RV. Watch jwong vs Arturo set on origins, justin was killing arturos strider with wolv pretty easily.
RV/Wolv owns everything IMO. Ofc on ggpo things are different cause alot of people use macros and have perfect war machines lol. Cow used to use RV wolv til he switched to GWM, either out of boredom or to prove he had a better DWM than tkimura
I dont think arturo is good as some of the higher ranked guys on ggpo. Im not sure if arturo’s strider is one of the best
Regardless you can learn alot about the matchup in that set 
I dont think Strider has a really bad match up vs Wolv, I mean you can just use ouroboros loops over and over. Think Wolv and WM just run from strider when he has ouroboros on, but he’ll just keep building meter to do other ouroboros.
This is pretty much how I feel about Marvel in general. :lol:
He doesnt build meter fast enough to do it endlessly. Its too hard of a fight for strider. Its not free for wolv but its in wolvs favor.
vs top tier Strider only loses to Red Venom IMO and goes about even vs Wolverine. Only has problems when he doesn’t have meter going in. If he’s at 1 bar or more, you should be winning vs everyone. This is why Strider should be played second in most cases.
RV has no bad matchups. If GWM players try to get cute to escape repeated tick attempts, you can always bait and mix up with other stuff since he’s slow enough for you to hit and evade.
Hulk only does ok vs Wolverine due to armor, higher life (allows for more mistakes), problems with getting uncombo to work against him, and damage trade if he lands a hit/throw. There is no counter to Wolverine - only Red Venom can somewhat effectively keep him away.
Best team IMO is Red Venom/Strider - as long as you don’t allow Red Venom to die vs War Machine and have you second character die before they touch the ground. If Strider even has to play, you should be stocked with all sorts of meter since this team doesn’t need to duo in order to win.
Strider vs Wolv, if I run out of meter, I just run and spam to build meter, and call assist. One combo should be enough to get to level 1. Id RV worst match up is gold war. What if gold war player just keeps super jumping and building meter with spam missiles and smart bombs to get to level 2 just to keep chipping you? You could super jump also to chase him, though he could keep super jumping and spamming HP to keep you away.
I think you overrate strider a bit but then again theres not too many strider players nowadays
