If you ask me. Sammo goes hard as a villian.

I still need to see SPL. Can’t find it anywhere though…
Police Story is a classic. Never seen SPL, Sammo Hung as a villain sounds intriguing.
Flashpoint has some really sick fights in it (especially the last one…so brutal) but I thought the story was pretty dumb. I still need to see SPL. IP Man was pretty sick to.
LOCH>ROCH>HSDG
That how the trilogy plays out.
Note that in the 2008 version of LOCH they totally changed up Yang Kang’s death which made no sense when you interpret the story for ROCH. Besides that I think they did a good job. I guess you can Wikipedia when his real death was to make it make sense for ROCH.
LOL you funny. now go fuck yourself.
and watch this amazing series. normally I don’t like shows with romance because that makes it a chick flick, but this is romance done right, among other things. if you are serious in your quest to become a chinese, then watch these shows. i dont think there’s a person in china who hasn’t read or watched this a billion times. hell my dad used to read the books to me as a kid.
the latest remakes contained too much anime style fight scenes, plus super cheesy CGI. i’d like it if there were less wires and MUCH LESS fireballs. i mean, in the 2008 LOCH, guo jing yells out “xiang long shi ba zhang” every single fucking time he attacks. this is not a fighting game, wtf son. also, wtf was up with the director drastically altering the storyline so much. the guy had a HUGE hard on for yang kang. i remember thinking, “is he seriously still alive? we’re already at the final episode!”
BUT, Hu Ge and Ariel Lin had great chemistry, captured the characters brilliantly, and so saved the remake for me. I just fast forward any scene with yang kang, guy was turned into a pathetic emo loser in this remake, not the noble machiavelli prince in the original.
didn’t end up watching the ROCH remake, the clips i saw made it look like there waaaaaay too much heavy jap anime influence. in fact its a disturbing trend i’m noticing in chinese movies and tv shows, that i hope will be reversed. we need more shows about chinese beating up japs, not chinese copying jap anime.
People looking for SPL, just search for Kill Zone, it’s the same movie.
That reminds me, anyone seen Legendary Assassin. It was Wu Jings(that assassin from SPL) directorial debut.
ok cool, i finally found a youtube clip that describes what i’m talking about. way too much anime:

i’m trying to find the 1983 version of the epic final competition which stuck to the basics and made it all about good old fashioned kung fu. much more effective.
You damn well know you guys have a lot of that shit.
I think I have seen more Chinese beating up Japs in movies than Nazis I have killed in games.
ROCH is emoish because the story is semi-emoish. I mean seriously look at Yang Guo’s life.
ROCH Storyline
[details=Spoiler] - Grew up no dad.
Yea I be pretty damn emo myself.
The only thing that turned out well for him was Xiao Long Nu didn’t die, he ended up with Dugu Qiubai’s sword, and he has an awesome niece in Guo Xiang.
[/details]
Yang Guo is the complete opposite of Guo Jing. Guo Jing can afford to the biggest idiot in the world, but that’s okay because Huang Rong will just bail him out of everything known to man kind. Her prep time > Batman’s prep time.
I mean Yang Guo’s signature move is called “Melancholy palm strike.” Of course the nigga had to be pretty emo to even come up with some shit called Melancholy palm strike.
Fuck Jaa. He gave us Ong Bak and the Protector and then turned around and gave us two shitbag movies in Ong Bak 2 and 3. Then he decided he wants to be a monk now.
I remember back in the day when i had to shell out $75 for VHS tape from Tai Seng, they divide the movie into two tapes Part A & B, yet the movie is less then an hour half long…I hated that shit when i had to rent a damn film where they charge twice the price to see a full movie…Haha those were the days!
I used to have a pretty huge collection on DVD, i think i have about 250+ MA films from Japana/HK/Korea
Man, that looks so corny. There was another older show staring that same dude that was just as over the top in it’s cheesiness. The name escapes me. But I remember there being a movie based off of it with one of the dudes using his awesome sword skills to magically write paragraphs in cliffs.
Someones gotta help me out with the name of it, I know it’s late 90’s-early 00’s
I don’t know you mean by movie off of it, but most famous for it would be Zhang Sanfeng who’s a character in Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre (Father of Tai-Chi).
The thing about Kim Yong’s novel that makes it great, (even with the corny wire martial arts) is that he ties in non fictional characters with fictional characters and makes the story work. Not only is he telling a fictional story, but he uses real historical mix it with his fictional events, and it still checks out with both logical, and the real time line of history.
There are college courses in Beijing that is about his novels.

That movie based off a novel written by Gu Long.
Basically Jin Yong made the JiangHu world famous (think Marvel Universe), and ever since that many authors have been writing about it.
The 2nd most famous being Gu Long.
So most of the stories you see that are Wuxia is either base off of Jin Yong or Gu Long.
Undisputed III was fun. And awesome.
Let me know what ya’ll think. I had a bit of fun with this flick, the gambler being my favorite character by far.
Even with that boycut, she could still get it.
It was ok. I was mad that the brotha in the movie was a…you guessed it…a boxer. I did like the fight scene at the end. Another good martial arts movie is Blood and Bone. This flea market that I go to up in Baltimore has two martial arts movie stores and that’s where I get most of my movies from.
Blood and Bone was pretty corny, but atleast that nigga Michael Jai White did have his own theme song.
If you liked that you should try Silver Hawk. Him, Michelle Yeoh, and Luke Goss.
Anyways here it is finally.
Gonna up Magic Blade next, and don’t forget you can download direct from that site.
That Gu Long had a tv series based on those characters from that movie cause I sure remember watching it. That dude Dragon 9 is on some other shit.
