While I saw that you guys covered Venom quite well there are some minor tidbits that are very useful to know about this extremely underated character:
-His LP Venom Fang has zero lagtime if blocked, even if Guard Cancelled. (like anyone would waste their time)
-He can combo into Venom Web from a LK Venom Rush. (1 hit)
-His S.MK and C.MK can’t be cancelled unless he hits his opponents.
-He can OTG after a Venom Web in the corner with a very quick dash afterwards. (This catches so many people by surprise it’s funny.)
-His S.FP is actually quite good at stopping dash-ins.
-His Snapback is arguably the best in the game, 1/2 screen reach in 1 frame!
-His standing and jumping Roundhouse have incredible priority and I’ve beaten Sent’s Frying Pan (J.FP) and stomps cleanly with both Roundhouses on many occasions.
-Venom/Sent >>>>>>>>>>>>> Venom/Doom
Oh and even though this doesn’t really matter Captain America’s Final Justice doesn’t scale no matter how long the combo was before you cancelled into it. Unfortunately Cpt.Amrica sucks at comboing so there isn’t really much you can do with this glitch.:shake:
Higher-Jin: Did you draw that Jin pic in your AV? Because I’ve never seen a Jin pic like that anywhere.
Anakaris is definitely top tier. This guy here destroys top teams w/ anakaris storm sonson. No its not the guy from phillipines either. Hes got wierd trijumps, lots of priority, and 75% life gone for 1 launch if he gets. 95-100 if storms behind him to go into hail. What do you guys think of Anakaris??
Anak is decent at runaway and has the 100% combo with a couple of different assists, and can guard break if he’s using Cyke-AAA, I hear.
He has issues with the fact that he has a slow normal jump, so he’s easy to guard break. Also, he takes high damage, and he has issues fighting at a long range. If people get reckless and try to rush you you can hit the infinite. However, you run into problems when people get patient, especially because Anak can’t cover his assists as well some characters.
It’s sorta like Iron Man’s infinite- hypothetically, it’s really overpowered, but in practice, it’s harder than it sounds.
Viscant told me that great anak trick, let me see if I can dig thru some logs.
[12:39] <Viscant> anak/cyclops is total gimmick
[12:40] <Viscant> if i hit you, launch (call cyclops), short, fwd, doll
[12:40] <Viscant> then do it again
[12:40] <Viscant> and again
[12:40] <Viscant> until you die
[12:40] <Viscant> then make sure you die in the air and do doll right where you come in
[12:40] <Viscant> so you either get hit (and die)
[12:41] <Viscant> or block it, then anak hits the ground, calls cyclops, then dolls
[12:41] <Viscant> then you die
[12:41] <Viscant> repeat as necessary
[12:41] <Viscant> which is why anak perfects don’t count
[12:41] <Viscant> if you have dc, it doesn’t work all the time. sometimes they get hit by doll and don’t doll up
[12:41] <Viscant> which is why i don’t play anak in tournaments
[12:41] <Viscant> on arcade it works 100%
heh, Doom rocks makes ANYTHING more fun to play. Seeing as how low tier has to depend on at least some chipping to get an advantage, adding Doom AAA is a good thing sometimes, as it chips and pins.
someone put up good info on iceman and bison… iceman is to nasty in the air zoning with d+HP. avalanche, icebeam. i use storm/AAA with him any character that can do chip damage worth some chain combos of low tiers has gotta be good for something… and bison up front with storm/sentinel g. bison ive only started to hear hes got some nice trapping and a lil rushdown to him
to the comment above SS take up too much meter and i jus leave him in normal mode and only use his lightning super i dont see n e benefits from changing… if you want to though i suggest storm/SS/AAA to build meter for him if you want to change him up to ice mode
juggernaut on point. do the cytorak power-up [dp+2 punches] then tag him out before the duration ends. so that puts juggernaut out with the cytorak mode. the glitch there is that everytime you call him as your assist, he is always in power up mode, which means = big damage. and oh. if he comes in again as point character, the power-up is gone. do it again and tag him out… pretty stupid if he’s the only one left btw. LOL
i dont think its limited to only the assist you can power up tag out and tag back in and then you unleash all sorts of hell on n e 1… some combos of his powered up are n e where from 120 damage to instant death… the only thing is once u glitch you cant power up again otherwise you go bak to normal mode
for starters idk about the rules on the tournament scene cuz ive never been in tournaments and plus for the most part every video ive ever seen from tournament is all scrub vs scrub, MSP vs MSP … lalala same thing ive only ever seen one juggernaut played and that was it… ask some of the pros here if its banned or not
The power up glitch isnt banned. The only glitches banned from competitive play are those that stall the match in some way (eg. gambit glitch).
As for the glitch in actual play, it is extremely annoying to pull off. Best bet is to power up then alpha counter to get juggs out and glitched. Tagging is way too risky, especially when your opponent knows you want to tag out juggs.
I’ve been doing searches on both SRK and elsewhere, but didn’t find what I’m looking for…
What MvC2 team(s) does “low-tier warrior” Chikyuu use in tournaments? I read somewhere that he was among the first to use Blackheart in high level play, but that’s all I know. I assume that he picks low-tier characters in MvC2 as in other games, so that’s the main reason why I’m posting this here.
Edit: Well… I did more searches today, and finally found some info re: Chikyuu’s teams. 1) Taking a closer look at psychochronic’s guide to the tournament scene, I noticed that Chikyuu used Doom/Blackheart/Anakaris during the 2000 USA vs Japan event; 2) circa 2004, his team was Blackheart/Cable/Sonson. So these are not 100% low-tier teams, but they’re still quite offbeat…
