Alright, for the most part itās quite simple for those who havenāt gotten on those Handheld games.
Instead of an MP system, the Command Deck puts all your commands in one rotation. Each move, whether magic or other commands other than basic attacks, take up a slot in the Command Deck (up to 8 usually by Endgame, some of the bigger attacks take up multiple slots). No limit to how many commands you can put in one deck other than the amount of slots. You could put 8 Curagas in there if you wish (if you happen to have 8 Curagas to begin with). When you use a command, it needs to charge up afterwards before use again (almost like the KH2 MP system). Different attacks have different reload times.
The upside to the Command Deck system is a cleaner system for things like Limits. KH1 had a terrible system for them, and KH2 barely had any at all (Limit Form in FM+ not withstanding). It allows a better place for things like Strike Raids or Ars Arcanum.
Downside is by its very nature, itās more limiting. Those commands you put in the deck is all you get in battle. If you only have Fire magic and Cure Magic and run into a boss that gives 0 fucks about Fire but is weak to Iceā¦youāre SOL. Also, can encourage a bit too much Cure spam instead of encouraging nimble defense and evasion.
My personal take is to combine the two systems. Allow Magic to run on the Command Menu, but use the Command Decks for those special attacks like Strike Raid or Sonic Blade.
As i read through that i came to the same conclusion you did. Sounds like they should stick special attacks like the Limits in the Command Deck, and then keep magic type abilities tied to an MP meter. Iād pretty annoyed to be limited to what my deck has for each battle when in the previous numbered titles I could do everything when i needed it.
Would also help balance out the limits by giving them individual recharge times instead of tieing them to the MP bar.
I have a question. KH1 MP bar or KHII MP bar? Or new system all together for MP?
KH2 MP bar no question. Itās even easier to Cure Spam in KH1 since itās only a 1 MP use.
KH2ās system was perfectā¦itās just the magic itself was incredibly busted lol.
Anyway, Iāll show a video for the Command Deck by showing off a Bonus Boss in DDD (only way I can show anything worthwhile without a complete spoiler).
Well they could fix that by uppping the cost on Cure. Thats a balance issue, not an issue of the system being any good on not. With that said I really like the II system soā¦
Edit: After watching that video I gotta say I donāt like the look of that Deck system. It looks hectic and somewhat annoying. Maybe itās better when you play, bu just watching Iām not feeling it at all.
Indeed but it also doesnāt lend itself well to offensive magic usage.
There was never a reason to use Offensive Magic in KH1, ever. And even if you changed magic to be as powerful as in KH2, your MP would drain way too quickly with no recharge in sight.
A balance has to be reached.
How many Cures are too many? How much Offensive Magic is too much? How many Limits are too many?
Very hyped for this game, got a 3DS just for DDD when it came out, one thing Iāam especially excited for is the epic new music they always bring with each game, or they just add another another remix of Ansem theme, either one will be great anyway, I hope we hear LāImpeto Oscuro again.
The fact that even if you look past the subject matter you have a kick ass RPG. if you havent yet go back and play KH 1and 2 or even the psp version. It is one of the BEST rpgs from the PS2 era and just think how many games that system had? Plus KH 2 you get to team up and wreck shit with Auron AKA the dude who should have been the main character for 10 and you get to team up with other iconic disney characters. Hell Beast is well beast as hell. And Cmon Utada Hikaru. Even if that wasnāt enough you get to team up with and also beat the snot out of iconic FF characters like Cloud, Squall and Tifa. You owe it to yourself to play it man.
I didnāt like summoning iN KH2 tbh. Genie was the only one Iād even consider. Tinkerbell was OP. I wonder how many people realized you can summon her while fighting Chernabog.
KH2 magic was broken but was never needed seeing as how Sora caught enough wreck with his bare hands. Only things I used consistently was reflect, cure, and magnet. Thundaga went so ham.
Sephiroth isnāt even a secret anymore. Him and Cloud will be there to slap fight once again. And it will solve nothing. Again. Off topic Why hasnāt Cloud settled down and started boning the crap out of Tifa yet? Instead of worrying about a dude who just comes back once you kill him.
Sephiroth should be nearly impossible in KH3. He was too baby in 1 and 2, so now they need to make him some ultra mega rape boss that only the best of the best can even think of beating him.
Who the fuck knows. Thatās just the story of post FFVII Cloud. Heās forced to obsess over Sephiroth forever.
I would assume weāll get Sephiroth again. Hopefully heāll be tougher. The first one is easy once you get the pattern down and the second can be beaten quickly.
Though at least KH1 Sephi is tough to beat if underleveled. Which again makes me wonder how the fuck weāll touch him on a Level 1 run. Battle of Endurance for the first few bars but thenā¦Octoslash to death.
