The NEW King of Fighters XI Compendium Thread

Most KOF teleports (except Athena’s) don’t have full-body invincibility. There is usually one version that is lower body invulnerable only and another that is high-body invulnerable only.

So thus, you remain vulnerable to mid-level moves and projectiles.

I’ve escape fhrough a few whiffed C’s and sweeps, but only when timed well. I was thinking since there are actually some inv frames I could go through projectiles, guess not.

The properties of projectiles probably don’t allow to use Eiji, Vanessa, and DL’s teleport to get through. I’ve been trying for 10 minutes.

lol, I remember the 2nd thread which was all about who can come up with a 100% combo, until DG later pointed out that DL has the most efficient ones.

Im glad people are still playing this game. Its easily the game i still play the most these days and luckily theres some pretty decent comp around my area for it, anyone in here from around the bay area?

I used to be and Ill be visiting frequently during the summer.

Hey judge, how far are you from Long Beach area. If it’s no longer than an hour drive I’m willing do drive for some XI casuals fri around 3pm and sat around 6pm. Anyone else up for some casuals in So.Cal just pm me.

-RJ

DG, when are you comin to So.Cal man?

I wanted it to be during the National for KOFXII but I got so much going on I dunno if thats gonna be the case…so I gotta plan for sometime after this mega hectic schedule of MWC, DEVASTATION, EVO, SER.

:looney:

Also they are asking me when I’m going back to Mexico as it’s gonna be the unveiling of KOFXII in CD. Juarez lol.

Actually it’s about 90 miles apart and it’s about an hour and 45min drive. I live in the shitty half of the high desert.

DG, do you have anything archived for Vanessa leader? I wanna learn how to use her effectively.

the_judge: Yeah that’s quite a drive.

DG: When’s raging storm happening? Before evo?

Revised Tier Discussion, anyone?

Open to suggestions:

S+ ~ Kula, EX Kyo,
S-tier ~ Gato(L+1), Oswald

A+ ~ Eiji, Geese
A-tier ~Clark, Duck, Jyazu, K’, Kim, Kyo, Maxima, Ryo

B+ ~ Gai, Jenet, Kensou, Ralf, Shen
B-tier ~ Adelheid(L+1), Ash, Benimaru, Big, Duo Lon(L+2), Iori, Mai, Silber, Terry, Yuri

C+ ~ Hayate, Hotaru, Malin(L+1), Vanessa, Whip
C-tier ~ King, Mary, Ramon, Robert, Tizoc

D+ ~ Elizabeth, Tung
D-tier ~ Athena (L+1), Kasumi, Momoko, Shingo

This includes the console characters since they are legal now. (L+#) means the character rises # level(s) in the tierlist when they are made Leader.

I would like to know why you believe Geese and Clark are so good. I have a few thoughts on Geese myself but it’s interesting to get another opinion.

And what is so good about Gai?

Switch Elizabeth and Whip. Gato is definitely not below Kula.

Gai is pretty damn good in my opinion. Probably because i play him a lot but still…

He serves as a really good battery, and playing him isn’t very hard. His damage out put isn’t too shabby especially on his bnb’s and not to mention Gai spider does silly damage when it connects (which happens a lot). Bridge sway can dodge fireballs and attacks and can also be used to cancel some of his normals on hit or on block giving him block string options and adding to his mix up game. Also i think his standing E goes over some low attacks and ground fire balls. He does decent stun damage, he’s very quick shift friendly, and he can do a really good job of keeping pressure on someone

His priority is pretty decent as well. Standing A, B, Crouching A B and far C serve as decent pokes. His sweep has good range and can be canceled into bridge sway if blocked or if it connects to cut the lag. Crouching C and standing D serve as pretty good anti-airs. Bridge sway upper is pretty good as well but it trades with a lot of weird things and loses to a lot of weird things as well. He has that off the floor uppercut too, but that’s a bitch to use as a consistent AA…Bridge sway to Gai spider is a good way to punish jump ins as well

His supers I don’t find useful that much.

His power up super too me doesn’t really make a big difference in his damage out put as far as i can tell…but a lot of other Gai players say its makes a difference in his combo out put damage. I rarely use it though.

His other super (RANBU i think its called) is good but unreliable since the stick inputs required to finish it dont always read correctly

His leader…ehh the concept of it, is cool…If it connects successfully you or the other player cant switch out and it turns his bride sway attacks into stand alone specials… but i guess it depends on how you feel about it. The fact that his bridge sway moves become stand alone specials is nice and opens up some different combo options…my favorite is having the off the ground uppercut as a DP

My experience with him has shown that he kinda has a hard time with getting out of the corner when being pressured by certain characters and although his priority is good its not as good as most of the characters in the tiers above him.

I think he fits fine where he’s at on that tier list. He’s very well rounded and not to mention easy to play.

Geese is like Gato, except instead of his ridiculously good air dash specials, he’s more well rounded with a command throw, short-range projectiles, and counters (that, unlike Kasumi’s, are actually USEFUL).

Like Gato, he can link :d::snkb: into close standing :snkc: into whatever for easy damage. He has all the tools to stop mindless hyperhops (which is what you need if you’re going to be near the top in KOF XI), but also has all the useful air normals he needs and Shippuken to punish baited Anti-Airs.

He has highly useful Super Cancels from Jaei Ken or his Atemi Nage Counters. Probably the only thing he lacks is a good QS combo starter, but he does so much damage that he doesn’t need to stun.

Clark, well I thought it was obvious. I sincerely believe that XI Clark is overall the best Clark ever.

Gai—

PROS:
+Best Stun Resistance
+2nd best defense
+BnB does pretty good damage and stun
+Ranbu super is an exemplary QS starter
+Dodge Sway is an excellent defensive and confusion tool, also gives you safe cancel options from blocked normals
+Command Throw has great range and SCARY damage
+Normals have good priority and can be annoying…mostly safe too (far B is an excellent annoyance tool)

CONS:
–Does no chip damage
–No long range attacks
–Dodge Sway specials require start-up
–Other than QSing Ranbu, supers are worthless
–Probably the most useless LDM in the game
–Dodge Sway is completely vulnerable to command throws…Clark eats Gai’s lunch for free…seriously, it has to be close to the worst matchup in the game.
–Has a problem dealing with projectiles and rolls

Can someone give me some good Gato combos? I don’t have much going on there.

I’ve decided on a new team(Gato, Kula, Kim(L)). Is there any reason in your opinions that picking Kim as a leader in that team is a mistake?

Geese is hella broke in 11(and in everygame)He has Gato/Kula like bs priority on normals and the console characters seem to have small hitboxes so things miss when they shouldn’t. And then he has half life 50/50 guessing game when he’s leader?!

wtf
