Just decided to play this yesterday after having the game sit on the shelf since i bought it.
Does anyone know if the Japanese version suffers the same slowdown on some stages as the PAL one?
(At the moment i only have noticed it being pretty bad on one of the concert stages, and a very slight slowdown occasionally versus Magaki)
^^^
There is no slowdown in the Japanese version, and it does not suffer from the Tizoc-Mai name switch at the character select screen, nor the occasionally poorly translated win quotes…
i don’t know… the slowdowns r random… happens rarely… only during practice mode… i just change stage and it’s all good…
Cheers, i’ll have to get ahold a copy of the Japanese version then.
Slowdown on the concert stage is pretty horrific, doesn’t seem like they really even tested it before release…The Mai Tizoc name swap is still pretty hilarious though.
yesterday i played some XI after a long time… i m sticking with my team: ralf, clark, adelheid (L).
i was messing around with the training with some chars (kyo, eli, momoko for ex), but i cant use them properly so , well grapplers are my field.
btw, what u guys think of momoko?
i watched some korean matches (which are uploaded on my youtube) where a guy uses her… she doesnt seem really bad… any really good momoko’s vids?
To this day, I have only seen a single Momoko video that made her appear intimidating (the player’s playstyle was very aggressive); sadly, I can’t seem to find it.
IMO she is very entertaining to play, but equally frustrating, due to her pathetic range (exceptions: jumping E and qcfx2+P DM), sub-par hit-to-damage ratio and obscenely low stamina. Also, a couple of her moves (qcf+P x3 and to a certain extent qcf+K, though the B version knocks down) seem almost useless. On the plus side, she has speed and a good number of mix-ups and gimmicks (jumping d+B, repeat/jumping d+D is a riot, particularly in the corner!), her Phoenix Arrow (qcb+K) is useful for inflicting block damage and her DMs and Quick Shift options are above average.
I view her as a high risk/moderate reward character, hence her low position on the tier list.
i like her style but it doesnt fit me.
i can understand why she’s a low tier… i love her dms though ahah they are so funny xD
if u want check my yoututbe channel and tell me ur opinion on the korean guys i uploaded (the one who is momoko)
y r u wasting time with momoko? ur current team Adel/Ralf/Clark is pretty solid…
Clark is awesome… doesn’t need any meter to be scary… but with meter he gets more damage… dp+k can be used as good AA if timed perfectly but DEATH if u whiff… also since alt. guard doesn’t exist in XI it’s AWESOME for string traps… and he has really good priority on his normals and easy ass combos that r fairly easy to hit confirm… and also free damage on incoming characters…
Ralf is also pretty scary… a cool AA with him is cr+A xx dp+A… whiff the first part… also retardedly strong normals… and cr.C can be hit confirmed into dp+A… also his stand E and hcb+D have random hilarious invincibility… but since he has no good defense tool he will need some guard cancel attacks to get people off of him… oh and whenever u hit dp.A try playing cross-up setups…
Ralf/Clark can do about 50% damage easily without meter from a random hit > 1 QS to the other person… like random far s.C with Ralf > Clark comes in > combo… OR blocked hits > QS > dp+K traps…
and IMO ur Adel shouldn’t be on screen without METER… preferably AT LEAST 2… cause as soon as u got 2 meters or more… EVERY characters including KGO will be scared of u…
Assuming you mean , the Momoko player missed/chose to forego a few Momokonba Loop finishers (the opponent did not seem to know how to punish the Loops), failed the Momoko no DoReMi Canto (“Deadly Rave”) at 1:56 and used the MnDRMC Shiki 1 (A, C, E, B, A, C, E, backflip kick finish) instead of the more damaging Shiki 3 (A, C, E, B, D, C, E, handstand kick finish, assuming it combos in Arcade Mode) at 2:03. Otherwise, a solid performance.
yes that match.
when i watched that match i said to myself: “let’s try momoko” xD
then, i gave up afte 1 hour training ahah
i must admit she’s sooooo cute xD
fiol… did u completely miss my post?
actually i did pal… sorry ^^… i ll read it later ^^
yeah i just wanted to feel her gameplay thats all xP thx anyway for ur advices , adel never comes in unless needed ^^
Been playing this game a lot as of late. My main team has been Vanessa as the leader, B.Janet and Ryo. I’ve just been screwing around but so far I’ve used those three as my mains. Although, who is the better puncher/brawler between Shen Woo and Vanessa?
Something I will say from what I noticed is that there really is no point in switching out low health characters unless you can land a multi tag combo. Anyone else feel the same way? Cause when tagged out the character don’t gain health back.
BTW, besides the extra DM, what else do leader characters gain? Or is it just the DM? And are those the definitive tier lists? Reason I ask is because the OP said it’s been a good while since anything has been updated regarding info for this game.
Not necessarily. Keeping lower damage characters alive helps you keep your momentum and positioning. Let’s also not forget Saving Shift.
Generally I like to match up at least my first two characters against what I believe my opponents first two characters will be. Therefore I want to keep my 2nd character in against my opponent’s 2nd character most of the time, and if I’m able to take down their 1st with my 1st, all the better, because I get a free tag-in.
Also keeping your almost dead 1st character in means you are automatically forced to play more defensively, and thus it’s very possible that you’ll be forced back in the corner and then get KOed, leaving your 2nd character to come in at a bad position.
As I far as I know, I think Leader characters get a SLIGHT boost to defense and maybe stun resistance. I haven’t really tested it personally, so it’s possible it may be a myth.
I do know for sure that Leader character affect the Judgement Counter more than regular characters when they are KOed, and when they connect with their LDMs.
If anyone watched that KOFXI stream we did from Monster’s arcade, I was the one with NGBC Kyo on almost all of his teams.
How long ago was that streamed? Are you guys planning on doing anymore KOF XI streams from there in the near future?
Every Monday is SNK night. Anything we can get displayed on the TV’s will be streamed.
That last stream was on Thursday. Search thru the previous vids and you’ll find them.
I’m pretty sure I can get XI in for the long haul because it’s becoming one of our main games.
hmm at the arcade u guys don’t have team mode right? cause lately i’ve been playing the game in team mode to make it feel more like xiii… honestly it’s pretty fun… u just treat ur skill meter as super cancel meter…
for that team i would say Ryo is the best leader… and IF u can actually Control Venessa and do her combos, then she’s better then Shen…
also keeping an almost dead character alive like maxima can mean that… IF u have lets say K’ …and u just landed a jump-in… and u got 2 skill stocks but no super meter… u can turn this into a double switch tag combo… + build meter at the same time… and will most likely kill any character from 100% health…
