The NEW King of Fighters XI Compendium Thread

KOFXI is one of the most fun games ever, here’s hoping people will eventually stop sleeping on it :frowning:

gotta stop choking during tournaments though x(

I called myself done with the game, but it keeps calling me back (same with Marvel)

But, no XI at AI makes me a dull boy:sad:

AI doesnt have XI? thats weird.

I believe it left a long time for 02UM (where the XI double cab was, 02UM is there instead)

So the only arcade comp I have is a crap end arcade in San Bernardino, and everyone there isn’t good enough competition.

I can ask the person who runs AI if he can put up kof xi again. I’m sure he still has the game. Just need ppl to be there playing the game at least once a week.

Didn’t it get way more Circuit than any other KOF?
The only complaint was the Modified Neogeo layout, otherwise, I still believe they just had to make room for 02UM.

yo judge, saw something you mentioned on youtube

false. I had actually mentioned something about this to RJ the other day during casuals, lol.

as you know, Adel has two commands to combo into his LDM: HCF+HCB E, which calls out rose, and HCB+HCF E, which doesn’t.

However, if Rose is called out, that only stops him from doing the HCF+HCB command, so you can still do the other. The only real difference is the lack of invincibility frames on the 2nd command… but you still get the LDM hit if they decide to hop or backdash upon wakeup.

That wasn’t an easy tournament.* Like I said it was like EVO x10 in terms of difficulty. You’ll get another chance in February for Raging Storm El Paso so tell all NorCal to practice up…Feb 26-28th, same place…

Just know next time It’s gonna be even harder since Rodo will have his visa…

You just can’t quit on KOFXI…the more you know the more you learn you dont know…esp if you play different vs. styles.

That’s what I heard too.

Well what r u gonna do to solve that problem???

I’m sure after NDP that won’t be a problem no?

I’m glad you pointed that out because I was gonna say you both talked about that during casuals during the tournament I remember.

Check the KOFXII SRK Clan for the link to NDP 2009 for constant updates to KOFXI vids…

wtf, really? lol, I play Adelheid for fun and I never noticed that, whenever Rose was out I just assumed you couldn’t do another altogether. I also find it much easier for me to use qcb, hcf version in clutch situations anyways.

I actually quit 2k2 completely for XI, lately I’ve tried to get back into 2k2, and I’m years behind where I was, plus I could use GGPO for trying to bring me back. And I change my team too much, I’ll just tell you this, I don’t use Duolon leader anymore.

At the crappy arcade I tried to get a small scene started at least, but everyone is so impatient and doesn’t wanna take a loss. They expect me to tell them 2 or 3 things and they’ll be pro. Since I don’t go to AI much (maybe once a month) I don’t know if it’ll be easy for me to convince AI to put XI back up (plus I and several others will have to make the rapid adjustment back to modified NG layout)

Still working on trying to make it to the February tournament. Unless I room with someone, it looks straight up impossible.

Okay, I unlocked everyone of the Edit characters last night (Silber, Gai, etc.). I was fooling around with Silber, Jazu, Adel team last night; I like it a lot more than my Blue Mary, Iori, Vannessa, Ramon combinations.

For one, I can fucking ZONE now. Save for Iori, none of the Agents team members had fucking fireballs or distance attacks. I’m sure masters of those characters can make their way past zone traps consistently…but I can’t. In anycase, ground fireballs stop Vannessa qcf/qcb+k clean. I’ll still work on them, but I’m definetly feeling my edit character team; I made Silber Team Leader since I can reabilably pull of his Dreamcancel from his autocombo DM…but Jazu might be a good choice as well as I can do his practically most of the time.

I looked through the thread and I saw what Jazu’s weaknesses are; anyone give me some knowledge gameplay on Silber and Adel? From what I’ve seen so far, Silber has problems against people with a distance game, is slow as fuck, cannot not combo off of low/crouching normals. Adel takes a lot of damage, don’t really see a good AA, Super and Dreamcancels kinda suck.

Hyperhop.

silver punches people really really hard and does a lot of damage, that’s about all I can say to that one.

Some quick Adel stuff:

  • Make sure you’re playing Adel as leader in 2nd or 3rd position. Adel with no LDM isn’t worth playing imo and there’s a lot of better options. On the other hand, Adel with LDM and 2-4 stocks basically threatens the opponent to the point where if they jump, whiff a normal, backdash, or do something generally unsafe, they take 50% damage minimum. This is why I usually say that Adel teaches you to super on reaction, lol.

  • Adel AA is kinda spotty without meter. Your only really good option is st.E, though reflector, slow is it may be can stop empty jumps and some normals. It’s not very reliable though. With meter though, B genocide cutter or LDM are sufficient enough anti-air. I’ve hard of df+A being good, but I honestly don’t use it a lot.

  • Much like Akuma, due to the low defense, and high offense potential, you’re pretty much required to be in the other guy’s face a lot. cr.B and close st.C are really fun, recently I’ve been using cr.Bx2, cr.D on block to gauge what the opponent is going to do next. If they roll towards, mash out cr.B into combos to punish that, if they jump, genocide cutter, if they backdash, you can LDM if you’re fast. st.C up close is reaaaally meaty and can stuff a lot of things as they’re getting up. From there you do st.C, back+B, qcf+D/hcb+C, or any super after back+B. LDM isn’t advised unless you want them in the corner really badly, because the damage scaling hurts your damage a lot. A trick that gets a lot of people, is that if st.C, back+B is blocked, you can do a hcb+A to catch them if they so much as twitch forward right after the blockstring. Doesn’t always work, but it catches a lot of people off guard if they’re not specifically used to fighting it.

  • forward+B is an overhead. Not a whole lot to it, but its nice and worth noting.

  • Use but don’t abuse (cause you can still get hit in the face) god presses. Both versions are useful due to the differences in speed, and they mess a lot of people up. C version whiffs if they’re in blockstun though, so be careful.

  • Another LDM note, the active hit frame for it reaches to a little past his outstretched hand, and it stays active for a very, VERY long time. You can opponents incoming from a partner’s KO with it, but it’s not always going to work, because it’s a crossup rather than unblockable.

  • Don’t dreamcancel. Ever.

…That actually went on for longer than I thought, but hopefully that gives you a general idea of what to do. There’s more stuff, but I can’t think of everything off the top of my head.

Some advice- Get a passport, cross and play in Tijuana, go to MexiCali and play with Vegar (Who won the KOFXI National in 2006) AND play at AI. You never ever ever ever wanna limit yourself.

Remember you are only as good as your competition!!

How is that performed differently from normal hop?

Thanks a lot. That gave me a great starter. Sadly its looking like I may bave to change my team if I want to keep jayzu and Silber together since it appears Adel is only worth it in leader posistion (I didn’t want him in leader posistion). Maybe I’ll switch him out for another combination.

I guess the best thing to do with Silber is just to use him and figure out works.

I really wish they had given him a low reversal and the ability to combo off of crouching normals though.

Hyper Hops work the same way as regular hops except you gotta tap down then do the up motion (7,8,9)

Hyperhop normals also have more priority/speed than regular hop specials.

Should watch Dandy J’s tutorial.

Here’s the XI videos right here in this thread:

I don’t think the point is emphasized enough:
Getting your Hyperhops down is CRITICAL to being able to play high-level XI.

There’s no way around it: you need ‘em down-pat, and you need to know what your characters’ best Hyperhop normals are.
Otherwise, your opponent is going to out-mobilize and out-prioritize you for FREE.

Silber’s hyperhop is a very interesting case in regards to his C. His C is the only case of a normal in the game that I know of where its properties completely change during HH.
In a normal/super jump, Silber’s air C is a no-recovery knockdown on hit. In a HH, the same C doesn’t knockdown, but it gives him good enough frame advantage to follow up with a combo when he lands.

Is there a way to pick the stages in the console version of KOF XI? I keep going to the same few stages.
