The New E.Honda Match-up Thread!

It works on M.Bison. The idea is:

bison goes for headstomp, you walk backwards, stomp whiffs, you hit w/ s.HK, then c.lp, then either HB or HHS.

Very nice. Any idea who else? I’m pretty sure it works on boxer too.

on certain match-ups, i dont see much japs wasting the clock.
at certain distances, some ryus and sagats i fight just throw out FBs even i have the life-lead. i could just then literally jump my way to victory. i know kara TU’s and dash DPs can tag honda from 3/4 screen, but at full distance they cant punish honda…i think:lovin:

had problems with a good akuma today. Lost quite miserably and i beat most the akumas i face normally. Is there a reliable counter to command dive dick? lp hb, ex hb and splash all lost to it. Do i just have to block and deal with the mix up?

Any more tips for a good akuma? this was no scrub doing jump back fireballs and no red hados whatsoever. He had awesome spacing and didnt abuse st.hk too much for me to focus through.

honestly, you need to block more. it seems like you are always either hitting a button or trying to jump in every situation whether you have advantage or not.
i’m not sure if you tried to block his cross up j.mk at all?
you should stay more patient and not be so afraid of the command grab. (i’m guessing this is why you keep trying to jump?)
just pay more attention to the spots when abel can go for it (his grab has limited range) and remember that every time he goes for it should be a risk for him as well. if you jump away from his command grab, it gets you nothing if he whiffs it.
but if you back dash it, you can punish it. that grab takes forever to recover.
so it should be a risky guess for him as well.
block and back dash are keys to this match up as well as throwing him out of his rolls.

the other thing is, you keep letting him in for free. just stand your ground and anti air him. doing nj.rh really just lets him walk up to you. it has very little horizontal hit box. if you are trying to prevent them from jumping in, why not just use a normal anti air on reaction? if you are trying to prevent the terry kick, just use lk butt stomp on reaction. (or ex if you have meter)

finally, when abel tries to do a block string into forward mk - dash forward, this is a great place to ex headbutt him.

abel is kind of hard to play against because he makes you guess when he gets close to you. but the only guessing game he has is his grab. you are making it way too easy for him to get in on you and to damage you with all of his moves that aren’t his grab. ask yourself why you are getting hit so much with these moves.

basically just play more with reactions and remember the only thing he has that is tricky is a command grab.

depends on where it hits you. if it’s in front of you then yes, you can beat it with head butt. but if they do it over the middle of your body or as cross up you have to block it. this is ofcourse if it’s meaty (like when you are waking up)

other wise, your options for beating it are jump back jab, strong, fierce, or round house. or you can nj.fp it as well if you do it early enough.

you can also chop it out of the air with st.fp if timed correctly.

finally, you can also forward dash under it if they are directly over you.

usually if i see them go in the air with demon flip i just do jump back fierce or round house (or strong if i’m reacting late). but i’m usually spamming nj.fp in this match anyway so they tend not to do that.

there are a few akimo vs momochi and tokido vids around. just watch those and figure it out.

having real trouble vs good abels recently. The tips all given on the first page are great for scrubs but nothing else.

I lost twice to an abel tonight who would constantly just crouch block at a certain range, just outside my st.rh and just wait and punish. I would be wasting ex on trying to do any damage!

If i walk up its pokes all day, buttslam gets blocked and then i eat a combo. Any headbutt but lp or ex and i eat rekka. How the hell do you initiate attack on a good abel?

p.s fuck online play. Im getting so tired of it now, i just wish there was a bigger scene outside of london in the uk. I would stab a baby to have an arcade near me.

Abel has just as many problems with Jump ins as honda does if not more so, i’d say give that a go. His falling sky is very eratic and for every time you eat one you’ll land a combo twice.
Especially if you mix up your jump ins with funky hit box moves like MP HP MK.
I’m not saying this is a fool proff strategy versus him but i’ll jump in on abel alot more than most of the cast. At least until they prove to me they can deal with it.

And Is there even a scene in london?
I’m in leeds and i’ve just got to accept that it’s online or nothing. Whenever i get pissed at it i either walk away or refuse any 3bar and below matches.

ochio/headbutt those rolls its humorous watching an able try to get in on honda i have a terrible life lead turtle game but if you sit there and jump back and make him come to you he has a rough time :tup:

things to know as fei is probrablly still my main, but slowly fading for the fat man

if he does 2 rekkas, you can block and punnish with cr.lp hhs, and if he lands them deep, you can reversal ochio. 2nd rekka is -6 on block at best

standing far fierce stuffs CW(fei’s flying kick). if you havent played fei much before, you wont know what the start up looks like, but both versions he will want to use have 15+ startup frames, but are safe on block. but if he eats 140 for being random, he will stop. if you are sitting on charge, just jab headbutt

fei can rekka punnish all headbutts except jab. yes, including EX. however for fei to be really effective he needs to be within jab headbutt range. and jab HB stops all feis attacks when done at the same time except flame kick, so if he gets close, dont be shy about throwing it out.

neutral jump fierce is really good in this fight too. stuffs rekkas, CW, all air to air options.

fei honda is 7-3 honda. you may lose if you havent fought good ones before, but fei is like a mini rog, with less damage, a crap ultra, and the inability to turtle.

thanks alot. I have played only 2 fei longs before so have nearly zero matchup experience. This was the first one that made me think “damn”

now that i read your write up, i realize all my mistakes that could have easily turned the tides into my favor. I rarely punished CW and 2 hit rekkas :xeye:

here are a few bits about gouken. First thing is getting in close, it can be tough really tough. I suggest almost no jumping.
Remember, Goukens usually have a bit of a pattern going…straight fireball, straight fireball…straight fireballl…is he jumping now? upward fireball. Anticipationg your moves
throw them off my slowly inching closer within danger zones of fireballs. This comes in handy later, once they know you are not committed to a jump then jumps become safer later in the battle. Its all about conditioning the opponent
Once you get them to stop do your thing. I think standing Hk can go under goukens rush punch. Check out the frame data on them, you might be able to ochio them on block.
Knockdown is your best friend…get them guessing with ochios to beat parry, C.mk xx HHS or HB (to throw them in a corner) and Splashes. You can easily rape Gouken for half health or even for a perfect once you corner him.

I’m also inexperienced, but these are basics i come to learn from fighting a few blah goukens. I want to face ones who do resets and other nasty shenanegans

just started to use honda for a day and i must say he is 2/10 in difficulty.
his HHs is pretty easy and he does too much damage.

vsing a friend who mains fuerte, i discovered that when fuerte engages ultra while honda is jumping forward you can hit LP hhs and it kinda moves hondas hitbox back and fuerte falls straight into the hands.

you just gotta make sure your jump is empty and buffer for the LP hands during fuerte’s ultra start up

just found this out, when boxer has bar, after you use HHS… do not do s.hk to finish off the combo, boxer can easily punish by doing a ex headbutt > ultra.
