The New E.Honda Match-up Thread!

Damn I’m going to need to revamp some more, each post can only hold up to 25000 worth of characters.

I’m thinking Frame Rates are going to get the boot.

this is the best thread in the SRK forums, none can beat it!!!

now for some questions, how to deal with cross-ups?

my first option really is to block…but i would want to avoid the situation of blocking if i can.

EX HB beats some cross-ups and sometimes it gets beat (im looking at you dictator).

Ultra is only reliable from someone who attempts to cross up from a “techable” knockdown

Sumo slam just gets sweeped, (although i have’nt tried sumo slamming them in the right direction after a cross-up)

can i do forward dash normally without having to focus absorb first?

The point of the FA is that you absorb a hit. Dashing without it just gets your sorry ass into a combo usually.

im asking about forward normal dashing normal to avoid cross-ups…its viable, but i havent tried it from wake-up after a throw or sweep

Played some matches against Rufus tonight, and I figured out that you can get out of the dive-kick shenanigans by focus absorbing the kick and dashing away from the subsequent combo. It definitely won’t work all the time, but for the times that it will, it will at least save some meter!

GG’s man sorry for bouncing but I had to deal with this bs.

The guy loses with Akuma sends me some cock n bull message and comes back with Sagat.

And like I said, you’re most likely going to eat a combo for it, especially given how bad Honda’s dash is.

Honda isn’t really like Chun, Dictator or Viper who have fantastic backdashes. You might try FA backdashing to avoid divekick mix-up and might end up getting swept or target combo’d if you’re not careful. Honda has one of the shortest backdashes in the game.

If a cross-up is deep, I usually just block it and deal with the mix-up after it. If the cross-up is not deep, you can flip a headbutt usually but the problem with this is it sometimes won’t auto correct so you get kicked in the ass. Blocking is your best bet and so is learning to tech.

I would also like to see a Seth matchup. I hardly ever meet anyone playing Seth but they totally own me when I do run into one. :xeye:

It’s all good. I appreciate you sticking around as long as you did. I know it must get boring winning 90% of the matches, haha. But I learned a few things! So yeah thanks.

Looking for advice against Abel. My fights against Abel all follow the same pattern:

I go get the life lead
I back away
Abel rushes me down with chain normals, air to air supremacy, mix ups and cross ups
Abel lands c.hp > Ultra
Abel wins

I suck at zoning out Abel. I think that part of my problem is trying to hard to get meter with whiff oichio that I am not able to respond when he closes the distance. So he gets in to easy. Plus in general I’m free vs cross ups. Any advice appreciated.

Unless Abels knocked you down, he shouldn’t be allowed to cross you up. Jump back roundhouse and keep him at the tip of your sweep distance. Most people give opponents way too much freedom to jump in on them. You should always be walking back and forth, reacting to Abel’s attempt to get in, usually through roll or jump-ins.

Jump around more in general and do not throw laggy normals like s.rh unless you’re sure they won’t whiff.

Where’s the E. Honda - Ryu matchup? That’s something I need some serious help with.

After playing a billion rounds with Strider, I think you need to save your super meters to gtfo of his chains, and stop jumping when he has ultra. I would also turtle more.

@semitry Thanks for the vid’s. I see you use alot of ex/lp.HB’s to disrupt Abels rushdown/mixups. Were those n.j.mk AA’s accident or do you use them alot? Does it have a better hitbox than n.j.hk which beat’s wheel kick and Abel’s air normals it timed right(my timing sucked)?

Great shit with the Auto correct Ultra’s. Respect.

Awesome job, Semitry! Just watching those continuous block string attempts was getting me frustrated! LOL Way to keep your cool under pressure and nice use of the ex headbutt.

They were accidents however I’ve accidently done them a lot and have came out ahead pretty much everytime.

Updates~!!!

Gen: Use your fast aerial chops. In addition to the normal WALL (aka Jumping Fierce) also utilize…

neutral jumping: Jab (fast chop)

forward/backward jumping: Strong (fast chop), and jab (downward angle palm).

those chops really kill Gens cross up game if he’s trying to get in. After you hit with those you’ll land right next to him (in fp. oicho range). don’t butt slam cause if he does his upward kick it’ll beat it. you can wait out the first aerial punish to see what he does. a cr. jab usually works well and sets up for oicho.

One BnB combo gen players use is their s.mk xx hands. some can even link another set afterwards. It isnt a bad idea after the first set to try and ex-headbutt. if they’re too slow on the link the ex-headbutt will punish.

EX-Heabutt does NOT beat out his diagonal wall dive if you do it too late. VERY STRICT timing to punish that dive with ex, you have to make use of those invinceability frames.

Random butt slams are NOT good as he can get in fast and use your recovery time to start his cross-up game.

chingchong that chingchong to death~!

Anyone have a list of characters the s.hk(2hits) -> c.lp -> hhs combo works on?
I kow it works on Sagat 80% of the time if you hit the s.hk real close, but it seems like some characters the s.hk doesn’t push them very far away, which leads into the c.lp hhs
