No way man. I’d still say 6-4 Gat.
I know it’s late but Boxer’s overhead is a free c.LP xx Hands or ochio on block, in case you didn’t know.
Also Mr. SNK your new avatar is 10x better than the one you had like 5 hours ago lol.
Thank you! I have the best AV on SRK now… (Again!)
First of all, online rank means nothing to me.
J.mk should be used for cross ups only. Use j.mp, j.hp, or j.hk as your jump in move. You need to learn jab xx hands as your BnB because that is what makes Honda. That will make your mix ups better when you add oicho.
6-4 at best imo. but still feels like 7-3 if you play vs a good sagat who actually knows the match up.
if the sagat player lets you down back at full screen then he has no idea what he’s doing.
you still have to mario like a bitch at full screen if you don’t wanna get fire ball chipped.
LI Joe makes the match up look like its still 7-3 Sagat. I need to see a better Honda play him instead of me to make any new judgments.
Just out of curiosity how does a sagat win against honda go now?
I only get to play online, go UK gaming community, and i’ve not lost to a sagat yet.
They all play cody now.
I figure if i’m camping it up at full screen,
Low-tiger - fierce headbutt
High-tiger - no harm, move forward.
Jumps in - lp headbutt
walks in - jab hands
TK in - well thats the close range game we were trying to get into for the last year.
i agree tick tock i only wish i would have gone to MWC because umeshoryu and wolfkrone get wrecked by my honda
I’m 99% sure that my view is massively oversimplified and a bone fide sagat will still tear me a new one but i’d just honestly like to know what sagat can do anymore now that against Honda his zoning game has a huge gaping fat torpedo shaped hole in it.
Having had a little bit of time away after my spats with Jewelman, I have still been keeping an eye on these forums and frankly I like playing Honda too much to let the opinions of 1 or 2 people stop me from posting on here - I’ll just choose to ignore certain advice/opinion that’s all!
Anyway on to your point TickTock123 - ask yourself this question…are you playing Sagats that can setup kara fireball traps (lp high tiger, kara hk low tiger, which unless you predict it tends to stuff headbutts on start up), Kara Tiger Uppercut reversal your HP and MP headbutts on block everytime and bait your headbutts, use Tiger Cannon in the match, use option select traps in their fireball game, c.lp xx ex low tiger your buttslams on block and generally dont throw low Tigers unless you have lost your charge? If the answer to that is yes and you win like you do then your strategy is sound and get out to some tournaments because you have the answer to beating the best Sagats in Europe. If the answer is no or what the fuck is he talking about, then the Sagats I mention will make you feel like you have to work very hard for the win and it is still 6-4 and maybe 7-3 to Sagat. The “bag of tricks” Sagat (bar one or two I know and even then they are playing new characters to learn them) you won’t find in ranked and you will get Mr Mediocre Sagat, who mained him and did well in SF4, but now finds life harder becasue he never bothered to learn how to play him truely at high level.
I agree with tamanapants, playing Sagats online who know the basics is something completely different than playing a high level Sagat. The level of technique and tricks between the two changes the match up completely. The baits, kara tiger shots and uppercuts, waiting for you to lose your charge, those top players already know that low tiger shot is hopeless against Honda and they force you to drop your charge. By sitting in the corning holding down back, you are allowing them to build meter and gain the advantage. I personally think the match is still 7-3 even though we got that buff.
So… The new guile…
ugh.
I agree, the low tiger shot change isn’t that huge of a deal to good sagats. The change only really affected the matchup to lower level sagats(which is still better than nothing).
you beat on a good sagat early and then the buff counts for something…if you have ex and can then run full screen an basically say come get me. Hp headbutt through a lk low tiger still needs to be reacted too quickly and if you mess it up you are getting kara’d or cannoned. Good sagats will close in before they throw low shots so that they can get you moving - anyone worth their salt will work out safe spacing to beat the headbutt on start up.
Good well i’m glad that the fight has more depth than that which i’ve encountered so far.
I’ll look forward to seeing some videos of truly top flight competition for this match up because the dynamic has imo shifted more so than any of our other match ups.
Glad to see you back T.pants.
Any chance you could learn the cr.lp into paragraph link though please
Internet forums are happy places where everyone gets on and has a gay old time.
Sure no probs.
I looked at the European Honda rankings earlier - you have been putting some serious time in by the look of things. Hex is top of the pops - you ever played him? If you ever want some mirrors drop me an invite.
Yeah been of work since April 30th with agonising root canal pain so got plenty of game time in.
LoL only just saw those rankings 33rd in the world. flex
Shows it’s more about time played than ability though.
Can’t remember playing Hex, only come across a handful of Honda’s and they’ve mostly been full screen headbutt spammers who don’t catch on when i continuous keep booting them in the shins in their recovery.
Hey, im am Hex at the top of the Europe honda charts, although i believe i have been taken over by Dragonzpryde after a 14 hour session on Alan Wake on Friday haha
TBH, i don’t even feel like i should be there. I’m sure there are many better hondas than me. My stick is broke and can’t afford a new one for another week so ive been doing no HHS combos on my standard xbox pad outside of j.hp over a fireball into st.mp > mp hhs XX super. So lame. You have to cancel those mp hands freaking quick too compared to fp.
Curse the monstrosity that is an original xbox pad! Just for fighting games though.
I’m not bad though, got a 92% win rate but that doesn’t mean shit online. I honestly sit and play ranked yawning, just because the competition in UK is so poor online.
I will be at Battle Of Destiny this year though to show some fat guy love! And to finally get to meet lots of players who will know doubt rape me and make my honda that little bit stronger.
EDIT: I have noticed online getting a lot better recently. The game has been out 3 weeks now and the scrubs have started to clear off and have probably traded in their copy. Ive noticed a big increase in decent players. Same thing happened in Vanilla though thank god.
Any good advice for avoiding El Fuerte wake up game? I usually block the opposite way because most elfs try to cross up mix up the second attack.
By the way, Im the other Top European Honda (psn) and another proof that points only means amount of free time.
Hey CaoSlayer, lol we shouldnt be too hard on ourselves. Yeah the points dont mean anything and its all about free time but we can rest in the knowledge we are not scrubs! Some tournament play will determine how good we are…
As for the el fuerte match up, check the matchup thread for more detailed info, but the main points are to not try and block, you will rarely get it right. Jump away hp and rh work well if he times his splashes late (mixing up your tech get ups should help with this) and if you get hit you just fly away and tech and your at a distance and out of the loop. A RH buttslam can get you out sometimes as can an auto correct ex buttslam
I know it sounds so simple but try not to get in that position in the first place. I fight elf kinda like gief, stay the fuck away and counter hit. You do a lot more damage than he does. He’s a lot easier to pressure though.
